Where could they be! I read that they drop from boss in hard-mode and from chests in hard-mode, but not a single one... I've soloed a few bosses many times and still no Tome! I think they are rarer then greens. any additional info?

I got a dervish elite out of a chest in the desolation while farming sunspear points...so I know they are there.

i've had them drop from regular creatures, boss's, and chest in hard mode.... had 2 elite el's out of the same chest even.
edit - the regular creature drops were both in missions.

I got one from a creature out in Wastes. None from chests or bosses yet.

hmm but what about bosses in hard-mode? and were the chest in an "upper-class" area where keys are usually more then 600gd?

I got an Elite Rit Tome from a Rit boss, and an Elite Mesmer Tome from a Mesmer boss, both in hard mode. Damn useful things, too. Wish there was a Tome trader. Guess that will come with an update that gives us weapon upgrade traders, too. Yeah...

Yeah, they come from bosses and chests. They certainly don't flow like water like the purples and golds.

I got a ranger one out of a chest in the desolation. Which is great, since I wanted to add barrage for tombs to my rit anyhow. Saves me the time of actually capping it.

Got an elite assassin tome from a locked chest near the Hajkor djinn guy, got an elite ele tome from an ele boss in Marga Coast.

I've pulled 2 ranger, an ele and a paragon elite tombs and an assasin non-elite, all out of locked chests while clearing the starter island in nightfall for vanquisher title.

From what i'm reading it seems that these drop from bosses of the corresponding professions (ele boss dropping ele tomes). This is damn useful if you want to 'farm' them or something.

I solo-farmed a ritualist boss several times today, and got 2 elite ritualist tomes from him, and only one green drop. They do drop from bosses of the same profession, but I don't think they're quite as rare as the greens.

I farmed a Warrior boss upward of 50 times to try and get an Elite tome and all I got in return was 4 Greens (yes in hardmode). So the greens are still dropping but the tome's seems to have a really bad drop rate.
I also farmed my way from Lightbringer 3 upto Lightbringer 7 outside Dzagonur Bastion and only had 2 non elite Mesmer tome's from the Roaring Ethers, so these don't seem to have great drop rate either.

elite tomes seem to have about the same drop rate as max-damage low-req golds with one decent mod. I've gotten two decent golds, one elite tome, and two normal tomes.

Ive gotten an Elite Elementalist one, an Elite Ranger one I tihkn, and a non elite warrior one, as well as another non elite one that I have forgotten the class of. Elite ones drop from bosses in my experience, non elites from anyone.
