New Class gogogo!
Elithion
I've beat Factions with a W/Mo, and I got to Mission 3 in Prophs with ANOTHER warrior when I realized that there's no reason for me to play a Warrior again. I'm looking for a new class to play through Prophs with.
My three main contenders are:
Necro
Elementalist
Mesmer
In that order. I want to get away from the warrior thing! I relly like the way Necros look, but I almost feel like they are gimped from what I've read, and that an Elementalist could do just as well as them at anything, or even better. Mesmer looks rather fun, though I dunno how good they'd be solo or in PvP. So, thats my question, what should I play? Thanks!

This should be in Q&A.
Besides that, I'd suggest Necromancer. They're versatile, powerful and easy to get used to. Also, they have the best Primary Attribute for energy management.

Swift Thief
Elementalist, it is fun to play as and can dish out a lot of damage. I also greatly recommend ritualist.

I would still recommend necro though, or mesmer. N/Me or Me/N. death magic, curses, and domination are fun to play with

Mesmer can a rough way to enter the "caster" mindset. I started as a blood necro and found it was a great way to support the party and dish out a good deal of armor ignoring and health gaining (for me) damage. Give it a serious look.

Mesmer are coming into their own with hard mode - every moster cast works faster - for a mesmer using hexes it can be sweet and great fun.
But for me I loved my mesmer ever since I solo'ed THK with henchies (way back in the day) but it is difficult for people to accept you in a PUG.

Mesmers rawk.

I would go as a Ritualist, and work on choosing one of those three as a secondary. Don't have to use spirits with a ritualist to be effective. You can even play an Rt/W later if you miss doing melee damage. They are pretty damn versatile.
Out of my characters the mesmer and ritualist are the two most versatile and challenging/fun to play.

mesmers are pretty much crap in PvE. id go with necro. just dont try to MM until you are level 20.

Why would you start another warrior just for a new campaign and not play the first one? >.>
Go with eles. They're awesome.

Anyway, I'd suggest being an Elementalist.

Yes throw everything at Q&A, that'll teach them for being be so good.
Anyway
seeing that you used to playing warrior, I would suggest a necro. Necromancers can counter and shut down warrior easily with their hexes. You knew the weaknesses on warrior already so it won't be to hard to play.

I suggest an elementalist, as you said, he can do whatever the Necro do, and even more and best !

Personally, I would recommend the Mesmer. Mesmers have a very slow start but by late game they can become real powerhouses in PvE if you take the time to study the monsters and work out what skill combos are going to be the most efficient in the areas you're travelling through. Not to mention that a lot of skills in the inspiration magic line can let you regenerate your energy pool almost at will. Mesmers are also extremely powerful in PvP due to their ability to deny energy, shutdown, harass and punish opponents. They're not the best at soloing though, as most of their skills are conditional and they're not designed to be primary damage dealers.
In summation, the Mesmer is an extremely versatile class to work with and well worth the investment of a character slot, in my opinion.

You have basicallly asked a "favorite prof" question, so check out that poll running in Riverside.
My opinion:
Mesmer - my favorite, very versatile, takes practice with timing and mob skills knowledge, but can hench almost all of Prophecies (and this was before heroes were available).
Neco - if you have never played one, you won't miss what you never had as far as the Soul Reaping changes. This is a great class that is very self-sufficient whether curses, blood or mm.
Ele - don't really have an opinion; only one I ever created is a level 3 mule in Kamadan.

Rangers CAN hench pretty much all of Proph. I did it myself. Not the elite missions (ToPK, Titan quests and such) but the missions are doable, as are the quests.
Of course, I'm a bit biased towards rangers... but they ARE a good class

Most Challenging To Play = Mesmer
Ease Of Getting Into Groups = Elementalist
A Better Healer Than A Monk In Quite A Few Situations = Necro

Go Ritualist – It is the Jack of all trades.
1. Necro secondary Minion Master possibilities
2. Ranger secondary Splinter Barrager Awesome AOE damage to grouped foes
3. Mesmer secondary ability to copy good damaging skills like Spirit Rift Etc…
4. Just its class alone can play like a Healer / Damage reducing builds like the Ritual Lord / Channeling builds kick out some good damage / Give that Warrior the extra push with Weapon Skills
My 1 cent

The best and most needed professions for PvE are, IMO...
1) Monk - as a Healer or Active Prot Monk
2) Necromancer - as a Minion Master or Spiteful Spirit AoE
3) Elementalist - as a Fire Nuker, AoE Damage
4) Ranger - as a Barrager or Burning Arrow Ranger
5) Warrior - as a Tank using stances to block attacks or gain armor.
With this said, it all depends on what you like to do. If you are making a character in Prophecies, I would suggest making a necromancer because Spiteful Spirit can only be capped in Prophecies. Necromancers are also very good at what they do, dealing massive AoE damage with SS and also making a lot of meat shields (minions).
