In pvp it's probably alot better to use 15 though.

16 on a warrior, because you can spare the hp, 14 on sins and dervs.
LightningHell
On sins you typically want the 13 critical strikes, so you'd probably be either be running pure CS/Dagger Mastery, or you're going 12/13 Dagger/CS.
On topic, 16, since you don't split in PvE.

14 in PvE (in PvP anyway) because I don't have space in my inventory for superior helmets.

16 in PvE and PvP...

depends on my build. my current favorite PVE build is an earth shaker aftershock spiker with WM in the 13 to 15 range.

Hell no... I do farming with other professions and i play my warrior only in missions. And in such situations it is always better to be good tank and leave dmg dealing to others. So I usualy just put around 10 on sword, i prefer higher strength and/or tactics.

I'm no tank, I just want to deal damage.
16 always.
16 always.
Ishtar Serket
My axe, sword and hammer builds all run with 15-16 mastery. I only split att points between three attributes (the weapon mastery, Tactics and Strength) so I can hit hard but also offer some protection. I never run 16 mastery on any other profession (Marksmanship, Dagger Mastery, Spear Mastery, Scythe Mastery).
Dfx Gladiator
16 PvE and sometimes PvP also, depends if I'm doing HA, RA, GvG, etc...
XvArchonvX
Yup, 16 mastery in PvE.

/unsigned For one, tanking is basically dead. At least to the point where its not usefull enough to make a tanking war. unless for very few places (DoA, The Deep) Also Warriors have arguably the highest DPS in the game, so why waste all that potential carnage when youre just standing there trying to tank, when its not even needed. Personally i always run 16 in PvE, i dont PvP much but when i do i put it lower. Tingi
I used to use sup's but now I only use majors or minors - so 14/15
Avatara
for pve there is no real point in having 16... you don't spike. PvP is another thing since you want every bit of damage you can utilize.
kvndoom
Usually 15 in PVE, but I tend to spread my attributes a little farther, so those 20 points are needed elsewhere.
no damage tank
i always run 16 on my warrior, and ALWAYS run 16 when barraging, extra dmg owns!

You got your runes mixed up. You wan't more health in pvp because of spikes. Less health in pve doesn't matter cause you're fighting against lame ai that doesn't even have 8 skills. Might as well max out the damage.
iridescentfyre
Always 16 Swordsmanship, 13 or 14 Strength. I'd rather have extremely strong attributes than a few more HP. Armor is what matters for survivability anyway. Granted, more health might keep you alive a half-second longer in high degen situations, but personally I don't consider that worth it.
Seef II
16 PvE, casual PvP.
14 otherwise. RotteN
14, cause i rarely pve anyway

I was doing THK mission and guess what... when i tryied to atack Jade Armors, i was doing like 10 dmg with usual sword atacks... While Ele was nuking the shit outta them. But then when Perfect Armor (warr boss) arrieved, he killed half a team in 2 hits, and everyone started shouting: Awww hold it while i rez!!!11 So since you have high armor, why dont use it and bring some good protecting skills aswell. While you run into a group of mobs, gather adrenaline, and start pumping them mobs, Eles, Necros, Mesmers and Rangers will probably erase them anyway...
frojack
Occasionally with some builds I'll be at 15 (even 14 if I'm crazy enough). This however is usually only the case when I'm using a damage supplemental (W/Rt or if I want to gamble W/E).
Personally I don't see a huge amount of difference from 14+. If I used a hammer more often I would probably never dip below 16 for the crit damage. Saphatorael
I used to have superior runes for all weapons, but ever since I started doing GvG's with my warrior, I switched to minors, as health is mùy importante there.
Utaku
16 in pve and causual pvp.
14 in GvG. to 6am3 Fana71c > You did low damage because you had only 10 in sword mastery, and my didn't personalize your weapon for the +20% dmg... isamu kurosawa

Hmm lets see, you have high armour for a reason, that reason is you you don't need to load up on so man ydefensive skills, you dealt such crappy damage because of your earlier stated 10 in mastery, with 16 in mastery you could have out damaged and killed it yourself. A dead monster deals less damage than a monster being tanked.
I never run less than 16 mastery unless its a specific build, usualy 13-14 on sin for high crit strikes. To back up what i say, this build runs 16 mastery, charged adren on 60AL dummy, using the first 3 skills alone this is the result: Tanks are a waste of a party slot. Ulivious The Reaper
15 on my warrior in pve for sword, 16 for axe or hammer which i exclusively use in pvp

Look at that dmg guys, with crappy skills too, just imagine what we warriors can do with good skills, we can keep dps up and still spike the hell with the same skills... so 15-16 are the best attribute levels! clawofcrimson
@ 6am3 Fana71c
several things to increase damage: 1. switch to elemental weapon jade armours are warriors so they have at least 100 AL vs physical. (30 damage vs 100 AL=15 while 30 damage vs 80 =21) http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Jade_Armor here is a calculator: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/calculators/guru_armor.php 2. higher attributes in weapon mastery will always produce more damage. for instance: ~10 att in swords = 12.61-18.5 damage ~16 att in swords = 17.23-25.27 damage http://www.guildwarsguru.com/calcula...uru_weapon.php 3. the damage mods/customization are extremely important...(thats why 15^50 is the most sought after mod) 35% of extra damage. 4. IAS increased damage by a lot as well. 5. You should be targeting the squishies anyway. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~` ^now all of that is only needed when you want to dish out damage. If you want to 'tank' the most important thing for a pure 'no damage' tank to do is make sure the rest of the team knows how agro works.... which will take some time reading on guru or wiki... (which the average PUG will not do) ... so usually what happens is the group will get mowed over because of the one noob who messes up the agro. ^which is why I dont reccomend tanking... Why would that be crappy skills...It's a near-standard Crippling Slash warrior build. What's to complain?
Anyway...you don't really need to have a minor if you don't split. It's perfectly fine to run 16 mastery on a flagstand warrior. Vhamp
