Second Birthday miniatures are out!

i would really want to know where u get that GW was EVER a PvE game, as a matter of a fact, u are right gw is a collect-stuff-gotta-have-em all kind of deal, didnt notice the 20 lvls, skins are the only thing that actually make a weapon special, no uber stat armor etc. c? its not a pve game in my eyes lol

on-topic: ppl no matter what gayle said or did not say, it doesnt matter be greatful u got something... didnt like ur new pet? sell it, simple as that.

I think it's kind of funny that the majority of people said they didn't want another mini pet and anet still decided to give them instead of figuring something else out... Hell I would have been happy if they customized it so it stayed exclusive for the people who have played for 2years.

Mini pets are pointless like the search feature they added.

As for the connection between Gaile and Minipets: It's a touchy subject. While Gaile does try to convey what ANet is up to regularly to the community, it is a difficult thing. I believe, however, that Gaile has never intentionally misled the community.

Back to the subject of Minipets, I was expecting a title that would add a visual effect to your character. Either that or a series of Everlasting Tonics that gave you a disguise. Whatever the case, ANet has made their decision and we must be content with it.

It's strange, people are complaining about a gift. I have 5 chars that have 1 year already. The 5 of them got a miniature devourer. Now that's something to complain. Can't way to complete 2 years with another 2 next month.

Bashing guru, anet, gaile, free stuff... You guys could ruin Christmas. I think guru does just fine, anet has tons of creativity, I wouldn't want Gaile's job, and I'll take anything free.

This is something so trivial! How could people even get so worked up over this? There's freedom of speech, freedom of opinion, and the right to object... but there are ways to do them that are not tasteless and insulting.

Thank you ANET for the incredibly fantastic mini pets. Thank you Gaile for ... whatever it is that you do. Thank you mod, whoever you are, for deleting my posts.

Yea, they deleted mine too, where I asked about being allowed to make a thread about Gaile specifically, in response to their above post and them saying that this thread was not about Gaile... and they edited FelixCarter's post too, to remove her comments about them being against freedom of speech and wanting to control everything everyone says. Of course, in doing so, they only proved her/us right.

ArenaNet tells us to come to these forums to leave out opinions, ideas, and feedback on the game... but the mods censor anything other than praise to ArenaNet that is posted, so the whole system is completely broken if you are only allowed to see and hear one side of the story/opinions about the game and things related to it. Sad really.

Your first amendment rights state that you cannot be prosecuted for saying something that does not cause immediate harm to others. It has nothing to do with a private website's duty to post whatever you want. Last time I checked, guru is neither congress, nor are they passing laws. They are simply using their right to refuse service to anyone.

Gaile is a PR rep. She is the messenger, not the big cheese making all the decisions at Arenanet. If you shoot the messenger, you don't get to hear squat, so, on behalf of all players who enjoy frequent updates, shaddup.

On topic - While I'm not a huge minipet fan, the new skins really are some of the nicest yet. I haven't noticed as much of a market frenzy as there was when minis first came out. Perhaps they've lost their magic? (Except Gwen. Anyone who doesn't want a mini-Gwen is a filthy communist)

I said nothing degrading, invoking, viscious, or "stupid". All I commented on was Guru's actions when it came to free speech on the forum. Yes, it's not congress. Yes, it's not passing laws. But last time I checked, it was "polite" to allow people to converse about such things without being shot, so why delete our posts and kill our words? (note, I used the word "kill". Read the way I worded that sentence strongly, please.)

I also kept with the conversation, linking one sentence to the next and then finally to the discussion of the Minipets. Now, my post makes no sense at all. It's jumbled up and pertains nothing to what I was talking about. If you're going to silence your people, silence them completely.

I ask that you don't butcher my words to say what you want them to say.

As for the situation on Gaile, Guru, and everything else, this is merely the amalgamation of many different "trivial" disputes coming out all at once. The Minipets, in my opinion, are great. However, they acted as a "catalyst" to others who already had built-up frustration at ANet. Deleting keywords in my post to reflect nonsense was my catalyst.

I could go into further detail about my words being silenced: One (and the only example I'm going to give) is a PM to a certain Mod with a crude and absolutely appalling response. But I'm not going to talk about such things on the forum. I'm going to deal with them in PMs that will just be discarded, despite the fact that Inde demands such actions. Instead, I'm going to continue on with the discussion...

The Minipets are nothing new, but they are great, ANet! Gaile, you do a wonderful job at times, but you are only human. To expect you to please everyone would be utter nonsense. You try your best and promise as much as you can, but sometimes that's not enough for the community. I understand how hard this is.

In the end, this post will probably be butchered as well. But I hope some few forum-dwellers see it before the Mods aim their guns and know what my true words are. I am saddened by Guru's actions this day.

What's so BAD about mini pets? You can't give people things like aura's, cause then, after a while, EVERYONE has the aura, and it wouldn't be special anymore.

As for mini-pets: What's not to love? THey're SO cute, and if you do NOT want them, just sell them. Especially the year 2 pets, which sell for 100K atm.

Ooh, I hate the whole "it's only special if hardly anybody has it" argument. Frankly, I find it disturbing that anyone thinks that way. That said, I wasn't really interested in an aura - pets are fine, it's just how they're implemented that sucks. Give people a choice and there'd still be variety in the game, due to different tastes. I just received an Aataxe - which I'm sure would be outstanding for an underworld farmer, but isn't so thrilling to someone who'd rather be in pre.

Yeah, cos that 100K won't get me a Gwen.

The only miniature I wanted was miniature Gwen, I wanted the nostalgia of having Gwen follow behind me spinning and falling down, her cape flapping. But hey, I can cross my fingers and hope one of my other characters get her or trying farm the cash for one. I would have prefered her being white or customized and we all got her or something, but that's mean and that's pretty selfish.

I got a fire imp that I traded for a Thorn Wolf.

I hope "adult" Gwen is the Eye of the North CE mini if they decide to do one. For the record I wouldn't mind a Customized Gwen that is untradeable. Unlike everyone else I want it for the sake of personal nostalgia, I don't care for selling it.

that's the problem in general with the privatization of public space - all the places we go to communicate now, malls or restaurants or websites or whatever, are privately owned and the owners have absolute control over what goes on there. All of our laws about freedom of expression were made at a time when public spaces, squares and parks, were much more important.

in this case - gwguru obviously has a privileged relationship with ArenaNet or NCSoft...it's more important to them to preserve that relationship than it is to please any individual reader. Can't blame them for feeling that way, really. Most people would come to the same conclusion.

Some of these mini's are neat (Gwen was a great idea) and most are yucky. My idea was to be able to choose your next pet out of anything in the game; monsters, npc's, etc. I personally would love to have a mini Grasp! Another possibility is give the player the choice of getting the present, which makes the mini non-customized or, choosing the create-your-own mini which, in this case, would make it customized for your character.
But hey, maybe next year if people survive that long .

I got a Heket Warrior which by far is the coolest ( he is big , he weilds an axe and he leaps after u if u run ) very nice work

Elf I haven't seen, but I'm sure there's plenty of people that will want a mini elf following them around at Wintersday - it's just not much of a spring gift.

Koss is a bizarre choice - I tend to think that the pets should have some significance to the character they are given too. What the heck does Koss have to do with a 2yr old Prophecies character? Same is true of many other pets, but it seems even worse when its a character mini.

Oh and lay off Asura - it's hilarious! I just spent 20K on one and love it to bits.

I got an Aataxe, he wasn't my first choice but he's growing on me. Gotten lots of compliments on him, especially standing by the statue of Grenth in ToA.

But you can give people minipets, because after a while everyone has one? That doesn't make sense.

Do they all sell for 100k? I haven't paid much attention, but I doubt it. Also, those of us who have been around since the beginning but deleted/restarted characters before the whole idea of birthday gifts was even revealed/announced are screwed over in this regard because the value will depreciate by the time we get our "100k".

Don't get me wrong... I'm not overly upset about it... a gift is a gift and all, but the line of reasoning that we're gettting a huge amount of money doesn't add up -- you can't always sell it for 100k (whiptail devourer anyone?).

Lighten up, it's free. What more do you want? If it's cute/cool, keep it, else sell it, its still free money. Ditch it and move on.

Gotta say though, not sure why they put in the elf, and I would have preferred a ruby rather than sapphire djinn, but otherwise they're pretty nice overall. Ah, a ruby djinn side by side with my SF ele... But that's just me.

And I reckon the lottery idea's fine. Can you imagine if people could pick mini's? Nearly everyone would pick, say a bonedragon. Soon after you'd have people complaining how their pet is crap since everyone has one. This way, people can choose what they want (by buying the pet they want) and there's still some variation in the pets you see around.

And I wouldn't make it seem like everyone who answered a poll on GWGuru is the whole of the GW community. I'd say more people than not don't even know about guru. And that's just from the english speaking districts. I'd expect the non-english districts wouldn't know guru from squat. And even with those who know guru, I know plenty who don't do anything other than check the auctions and updates. So don't go making it like Anet went against the entire population of GW or something.

As others have said before, I find it a bit odd since it's a character from an event rather than a regular GuildWars character/monster
But I'm happy with it!

I often stand around people who have turned themselves into an elf and watch comments from other people passing by about how it's a mini them without realizing it's my mini.

Now if I could only make my mini dance with them...

Well from the new series of minis, the common white ones were going for 100k+25e if you sold it on the first day they were available. The price of course goes down a bit everyday as more of them come up on the market.

I sold my pixellated turd for 100k +9e on the Friday.
I intend to sell the insult that is the Elf as soon as I've got access to GW again. Some idiot who enjoys dressing up will probably buy it for a fortune.

Did anybody get Gwen? Honestly I haven't seen her or anyone trying to sell her. I think they just made her up, to pretend they listened to our suggestions and add another chapter to the Gwen myth.

So would this be the only series in mini pets where the white common pets are sold for more compared with purple and even some of the gold mini pets? From looking at the chart, there is more choices and better looking minis for white one compared with purple and gold combined.
