I play on Euro servers (hard to say no to almost constant favor) and I'm pretty sure the drop rate differs depends on the time of the day. During the day for me (early evening in Euro) I get at most 1-2 gold drops per run not counting chests, but if I wait until night time to do this run the gold drop rate goes up significantly. Since Anet got rid of the anti-farming flag (or so they claim) I guess maybe there is another global "anti-farming" code in effect, something along the lines of "No more than xxx amount of gold/green items can drop in an explorable area within each hour/minute". That would definitely explain the higher gold drop rate when most of Euro are sleeping.

Forgot to mention that I live in the USA so when I farm these "well-known" spots I tend to avoid doing it during the time when lots of people are playing on the Euro servers, in hope that the item drop rate would go up for me.

I'm merely assuming such anti-farming code exists in the system, but if my assumption turns out to be correct then which server you play on isn't as important as what time of the day you farm, just pick a time when most of the people in the region are sleeping or at work and see if your drop rate increases.

this question was asked b4 but was never given a direct answer... is it possible to do this farm without the quest? i take it no but my monk, necro, and warr have all done this quest... my ele isnt far enought in nightfall to get stone striker... and it takes me to long to get out there... any solutions?

Without the quest, monk,nerco,memser,ele will spawn there.

Bots were always in this area .. thats how i found it out, seen tonnes of monks and ele running out, so i did research.

Ok what you can do is if you have ANY character capable of travelling to Gate of Torment, have that character switch its second profession to Elementalist and buy (unlock) the skill, once that's done you can either purchase that skill with your Elementalist at Kamadan or use an normal Elementalist Tome to get it.

I use a different Elementalist solo build, skills 1-4 are Arcane Echo, Sliver Armor, Shockwave, Crystal Wave. 5-8 are still the same, with maxed out Earth and Energy Storage, using this build I can finish in 5 minutes average. The VWK Rt build is also fast here, average about 5 minutes per run also.

I've done multiple runs here killing the assassins one at a time and my drops have went up dramatically. On average I'd say I get 20/26 drops in HM when killing one at a time versus using SS and getting maybe ~10/26 drops.
I decided to try this after doing some testing with EoE (in a different spot) and noticing my drops decline to almost nothing. With EoE I was getting maybe 3/25 drops, and once I took EoE out I was getting 20/25 drops. So I took this theory to this farm spot and had the same results.
Oh and when I say "drops" I mean coins, white items, purples, blues, etc (basically anything not included in the "loot scaling"). Also I'm getting 1-3 gold drops per run now.

I wanted to try other builds besides the ones on here because i have no monk and just thought if they are sins then I should be able to use my physical resistance build on my warrior, mist form on elly, 55 ss build but I tried all and none worked...so my question is what skills are those sins using? I had like 30 min at lunch to get the quest and try this on 3 different characters so I have not really got into it but just curious what they are using that goes thru mist form for example..it says i cannot take damage from attacks so why do I die? (and no they were not removing it)
edit: they outdamaged my 55 with prot spirit, mending, and HB but i didn't notice if they removed anything because they killed me so fast I didn't have time to see if they had
Edit #2 : just got home and found out, it is touch skills (iron Palm) so my question remains..how can you 55 them when they do 5-41 damage each time and there are 4 of them? And for that matter how can you beat them with anything but a monk because HP at 500 on my elly for example it takes 4 of them about 3 times using the skill to kill me

Oh and to the people getting killed by Iron Palm while 55ing, it's cos you didn't get PS up... I know, you thinkin "but i clicked it?", but a few times I noticed that after hitting my "1" key that PS didn't actually activate (VERY WIERD HUH). I just hit it again when it recharged and I was fine...

VwK is easy here, I was not able to do this with elly or 55 nec..I suck at farming so anyone else could prolly do it easy with elly since I got close. I had about 15 bad runs with little to nothing dropping then in one run I got a sin tome, and 7 gold armors...too bad runes are worth 25 gold now because 2 were sup prot and one sup death

for everyone who is getting owned on drops and havent got many golds in a while or who are only getting 1 gold a run take a break from this farming spot for a day or do some missions

i took a break for a day and did some DoA then came back to this spot and i got 3 golds first run 1 which was a rune and the next run i got 5 which none of them were runes and one of them was a req9 15^50 chromium shards

It works ok if you reverse the ele build but use minor runes and survivor armour preferably as you take quite a bit more dmg from ...iron palm (is it?)

the only gold ive gotten on this run are luxon garbs and ive gotten a ton of them. Although the boss did drop 1 gold flamberge req 13 tho. Its a great spot for exp farming my monk is now at a nice 4 million experience points.

Yea the garbs are nice ( ive got a couple sup vigors ), had a platinum wand drop, req 11 spawning the other day.

I'm pretty sure he brings Watch Yourself to be used in combination with Soldier's Defense till Gladiator's Defense recharges. That's why I bring it at least

Just a note to quicken your run if you have more kurzick then luxon faction and die right outside of town you will spawn right at the assasins, saves about a minute of running, perfect if you 55 monk to turn into 13 monk

How are you getting through that quickly? I saw someone a few pages back mention that they were suiciding at the beginning and respawning at the rez point up by the sins, but every time I try I respawn back at the beginning.

Onis are easy to kill with a Mo/N ss/ip build (if there are 2 or 3 spawning, if they are 4, just run ^^)

Sorry for posting on a topic that died long ago, but I have just started to run this farm, and I am curious, is there any way to kill assassin boss with 55 monk SV build? I kill all assassin easy, but as soon as I aproach the boss, his mob apears from nowhere and necro hits me with Lingering Curse...
