No, because a lot of the human players who would previously have farmed trolls, kappas, or things like that are now farming Ectos.

I'd say the price is in the toilet when it's less than 3k each.

Yep, get rid of the "advanced" solo farmers by removing the penalty for entering the underworld over and over, and add passage scrolls so they can enter at any time. "People who periodically enjoy farming solo (with no heroes or henchmen) but are casual about" get screwed over as trolls, kappas, minos, etc, will rarely drop anything if you're alone.

Here's to Anet and their creative math system where both of the following are true. 8/8 = 1. 8/1 = 1.

I think they should just increase the cap of how much gold you can carry.

Thats my 2 cents.

In all honesty. Items were and will always be way over priced. People charge a fortune for things that are essentially free. People inevitably inflate the economy. I like how they are crippling the economy in terms of sellable golds and the like do to the fact that the items should never have been so high priced to begin with.

Also another reason items may be dropping in price is more farming, the same thing happened before nightfall. Now that Eye of the North has been announced people are trying to farm gold so they can buy the new items and armors from the get go, it always happens with a new expansion in an mmo is announced.

Who in his right mind will buy a Colossal Scimitar for 1.000 p when he can just farm the area for 2 or 3 days and get it nonetheless.

So with the loot exception, every price is earthbound due to extense oversaturation of goods. Plus the farmers have been hit reaaaaally hard with the update while the newer players haven't been hit at all. It's basically a message shoved down the throats of the playerbase "if you f*cks don't lower your prices for the newbie, we make you do it". And this is what this is all about, why everything is losing value left and right. So the lazy newbie can get his stuff faster.
Basically, not much has changed for the older players instead that every price has lost 3 digits at the end same as the income has lost 3 digits at the end. Things will balance again but at a much lower level which is much more lazy guy friendly.
You know, I take exception to this. I am not 'lazy' but I cannot spend all day farming I have a job and little kids and things to do around the house. I am far from lazy. In fact, my lazy thing to do is play GW and enjoy it. But I do did not have the time to farm a specific green nor necessarily the money to buy it. I don't play warriors. And repeated farming is boring! Yet, I have played the game for nearly 1500 hours.....

I have a job and a family too. If someone wants something in a game which he can't achieve, he will have to wait a bit longer to get it. As simple as that, yet the way the lazy people wanted it (yes, lazy and maybe even moreso, impatient) is to lower the lower the barrier so even the most laziest player can get all the shinyest glittering loot.

The farm runs got less?

I dunno about you....but for me, Hardmode turned ALL 3 Games INTO FOW/UW and is open to farming. Theres now so much farming possibilities that didn't use to exist since everything has max level enemies.

Has anyone noticed a corralation between rune/rare material/sigil prices? When one goes down, all three go down.

This is one of the dumbest things I have ever read.

In other news, the demand for ecto is down. Fow has always been semi-ugly and as drops increase for "rare" skins, there is less need for mass ecto for high end trades for torments and the like. Combine that with less gold chasing the same number of goods, and you have lower prices.

Actually, this is so familer! We just went over this in my economics class! The law of Supply and Demand.

In this instance, the law states:

if price goes up, quantity demanded goes down. Although, if price drops, quantity demanded goes up. Inversely, if price goes up, quantity supplied goes up with it. If price goes down, quantity supplied goes with it.

Now, think about this, also, for a minute. If demand sinks, price at equalbium goes down, and quantity at equalbium goes down, too.

Although, if demand rises, the exact opposite happens. (Price at E goes up. and Q at E goes up.)

Now, this is the last law for this. If supply rises, Price at E sinks, & Q at E rises. (more goods. stauates the market. Price will go down.)

Although, if supply sinks, price at E rises, & Q at E sinks.

This can be attributed at any market good or service. (sorta like how there were so many forge runners at one point? And the price for a run went from 20k, to 2k?) The same thign is happened with the loot exceptions.

And there you have it. The law of supply and demand rules once again! (I should become an economics major. D: )

One of my guildies suggested that the event might have something to do with it.. people selling ecto to get money for the afk games.

With the game coming to an end after the next expansion, increase gold cap so everyone can stop whining about their loss of equity through rare items.

It feels so discouraging to farm ectos now (by looking at the merchant)...

But in my opinion, having the exemption of rare material is better than without it because there is less riot in the forum (First hard mode day was a crisis...) xD

Several reasons. First, hard mode made many rare skin weapons easier to get, causing prices on all of those to drop market wide. Second, ecto and shards are exempt from loot scaling and normal mode AI is dumbed down, so they are easier to farm. More importantly however, at the beginning, people had less money and so ecto dropped some, but then people had more money and things were worth less as more rare skins popped up so ecto fell.

The exemption didn't help the people that Anet actually relies on - the casual players who make up most of the game's population (and have probably never heard of an 'ecto' or of this forum). If you think that the first day of the drop screwup was a 'crisis' then wait until a quarter of Anet's customers don't bother coming back for GW2.

The funny thing is hard mode has made many farm run quicker and easyer. With the mobs attacking quicker means duel uw runs are quicker, as they will kill them selves quicker. Other things like 2 man foundry is also quicker, as the margos drop a better qza dn famine, and also die quicker too.

So in other words, quicker to get drops = more drops = lower prices.

I agree, and at the same time I know that if it truly gets that low, I will go by myself some FoW armor as well!

Exploiting the economy...one ecto at a time.

Here is another reason:
Since most farming has been nerfed, more people now turn to ecto farming, which leads to more ectos on the market, which leads to a lower price.

Is it a bad thing that ectos and for that matter most golds and other weapons and such are going down in price?
This is what Anet intended from the start thats why there is a 100k limit in trade, the messed up when they didn't do a roll back of the great rare material and rune price reset of '05 at which point a lot of people became very, very rich and prices went through the roof from there.

Besides which the people that have horded are stung but everything is cheaper so its a win win situation.
