My question: Has anyone seen Max Damage Tribal Axes dropping in Hard Mode? If so, could you tell me where?
Suspected areas: all areas with < lvl 18 foes in Normal Mode.

The note at the bottom does not seem to be valid, since I am having a hard time finding these axes. Also, Guru Auctions does not seem to sell any Tribal Axes, or rarely only non-max ones. Search on Guru does not show any threads, but that might be due to a broken search engine.

Yes, they drop in HM, whites and blues quite frequently in those areas. I've gotten only one gold so far though and it's req 13...

They do drop with max damage. I have seen maxed ones all over Maguuma and had one drop in Fahranur in Elona.

Hmm I suppose im just being unlucky. I guess any solofarm for those areas would work. The ones in Elona are inscribable I guess?

Somehow ppl claim to find them everywhere, but none finds its ways to the selling sections. Do they all merchant these?? A req 10-11 would still make 10k I think. Especially because of the fact, nobody is actually selling them.

For me (and probably many others as well), 10k is very often not worth the effort to sell, if I'm not going to use something whether it gets merched or not depends solely on how little storage space I have. The one gold axe I got was merched, it was 14%while hexed (from minos outside of ice tooth cave) and had no redeeming characteristics. I realize collector types want these, but it's just not worth keeping the chaff. I'd MUCH rather keep/sell/GIVE FREE a blue max tribal axe from NF which would in fact be utilizable... I'll start keeping the ones I get if as it seems folks actually want them.
If you all choose to not believe me, its no skin off my back I'll still start keeping them, perhaps throw what I'd normally merch into the givaways. Enjoy.

Hey, no hard feelings. Anyway, probably all rare items are worthless, the market has been decreasing rapidly in the past months, starting with introduction of Treasure Chests.
I agree, 14% while hexed is worth salvage/merch. On the other hand, if there are no sellers at all, you could make a fast sell on auctions, even if it is blue.
10k for something hard to sell is not worth it, but 10k fast and easy aint that bad.
If you find anymore max blue or better Tribals, Ill be happy to take the load off your back ^^. And so are some other posters above I reckon.

Nope, I got no hard feelings about anything. Roger that, in fact I'll even try to pick up a few tonight and put em up here for whoever to claim. It's just always been my opinion that *any* req 13 that I can't immediately use is merch food, and any non perfect req 11 or 12 similarly. It's not really a question of money, it's a question of time. I wanna play for fun but if I have to spend more than an absolute bare minumim of time buying and selling, then it's not fun it's work ;P

Ok, the thing with tribal axes is that blue one with NOT MAX dmg (sth like 6-26 or alike) is being sold for 50k++ (saw on forum go for 95k)

I've gotten many blues almost max damage (6-22 and so) from Minister Cho's Estate (Explorable). I'd like to see (have) a max gold one too 
And other axe that I'd like to have is Serpent Axe. Tribal Axe look is nothing compared to what Serpent axe looks like.

It would be interesting how the axes would sell on auctions. I cant believe nobody tried to sell them there. Only see a 6-15 dmg one... :S

For selling, I almost exclusively use Auctions, since its set-up-and-go in 5-10 mins. If it doesnt sell itself in the time for the auction, I merch it. But if I had a max Tribal, I would definately try it on auctions first.

Well I am going to give this a try tonight, I guess a 55-build doing Fahranur should work.
I already Vanquished that area before with henchies, got a rare Dead Sword, perfect. But no Tribal dropped... Funny that a Dead Sword dropped faster then a Tribal.

I found one spot in Tyria, which should drop gold Tribal Axes, with enough grind atleast. I've had about 20 runs, so far lots of golds, but only a few white/blue non-max Tribal Axes. (btw, these snow ettins also drop tyrian skin sickles).
Set to Hardmode. Start from Beacon's Perch and run towards Kryta. Destination is "Griffon's Mouth", which is basically inhabited by only Snow Ettins, except for a Dragon Boss and a few Ice Golems in the southern end.
Just bring a 55-monk with Fleeting stability and Mystic Regen instead of breeze. Use Shield of Judgment as your damage dealer. Since the ettins don't get knocked down, they'll die fairly quickly. Just keep to mobs of three or four. You can take more, but they just run away if there are more and regen, making this take forever.
There are two ettins bosses in the caves also. A monk boss, without skills it seems, which will fall after two/three SoJ's. The Warrior boss has heal sig, making him nearly impossible to kill, so just ignore him.
Clear the caves to the other side, re-zone and keep going.
I'm sharing this, in hopes that someone will farm a gold tribal axe there, proving it can be done. (screenies ppl) ^_^

i tried this location too...no tribal axes dropped from the undead but i got 2 crappy white ones dropped from the skales...
you should give a try to farm the spiders, got white ones from the monks and the warriors there, maybe they drop better ones than the crap i got^^

Hmm I guess undead dont drop them, on wiki at least Insects and Skales are mentioned. So it is likely undead dont drop them.
Snow ettins drop them in normal mode, so I guess they also do in HM.
Anyway, doing 55mode Issnur Isles now, since they have loads of Insects and Skales.

Non-Max blue inscribable ones exist (from Istan) so one would hope a gold version would drop in HM...
But I have to agree I don't think Tribal Axes or Tyrian Sickles are going to drop max damage gold versions.

While I still think thats what dropped for me, without a screenshot even I don't remember for sure. It doesn't matter to me, this holy grail is just a wooden cup to me. I also have been searching for a max gold Tribal axe...and so far I have seen no proof of one existing. But I may provide you all with some hope, the other day I was doing Aurora Glade HM and got an Ascalon skin Warhammer, max damage and gold (although the damage mod is awful) from a locked chest and prior to HM the only max gold ascalon warhammers I ever saw came from halls...so here is to hoping that we can find the same thing in Tribal axes and Tyrian skin sickles

I've bin farming Nolani Academy for some days now in an attempt to get a tribal/sickle but to no avail

So far 4 lockpicks, 6 rares and 4 tomes from farming the same area, Issnur Isles. But no Tribal Axe seen so far. Guess they are still quite rare.
Though I did find an inscribable req 9 Hand Axe. Seeing ppl sell them for at least 20k, and some idiots charging even 600k for them.
The farm itself has some decent drops, you can start on either side of the map, it doesnt matter. Rares drop frequently, so do they in general in HM I guess.
Groups are usually 3 skales, though with this build I have killed 2 groups, or 6 Skales at the same time. Keep away from more then 2 Ridgeback Skales though. Try to cast the Spiteful Spirit after they unleashed 2 Agonizing Strikes. Group of 4-5 Insects without a Grub Lance is easy and fast. Dont bother going for groups with Grub Lances. In general: go for groups of 3 Skales or 4 insects without healer. And theres a lot of them.

I did go pretty much all over shing jae island last night, plains of jarin, and one minotaur run. I specifically watched for tribal axes. The only ones I saw last night were drops from sickened guards in Minister Cho's Estate (mission). They were all white and non max (best I got was a 6-25 last night). In the Estate I got some good drops including a max purple serpents axe, but it was clean sadly. I did 5 or 6 runs from the start up untill the menagerie, there is a sickened scribe just past it that somehow always kills me with starburst... it seems to be ignoring prot. as a result I just quit hen I get to the pets.

I think the person that added the comment to wiki was an idiot. It is not unlikely they drop in HM, or at least close to max. But it is BS they drop in surplus, even Dead Swords drop more often.
The reason for this might be because of the loot-scaling. Things that are affected by this are white and blue items, not purple and gold. Since Tribals so far have almost exclusively dropped (apart from some unconfirmed reportings) being white or blue, I must conclude they are affected by loot-scaling.
So Tribals are still on of the most rare skinned axes, if you ask me.

The Sickened Guards in Minister Cho's Estate(mission) tend to drop alot of tyrian sickles and tribals,well for me anyways.No golds yet though.

Finally the search button is working again. Apparently people have recently been selling non-rare Tribals for 60k-100ectos. Maxed and near-max (6-26). So far no screen of a rare seen.

got it about a week ago, i was messing around in the Isles and popped one out after about 3 or 4 days. forgot what type of scale dropped it, im sure it was those ridgebacks though. didnt think to take a drop screen. just wanted something zealous
