Double (Un)Lucky Points from Lockpicks

Even though it isn't up on this homepage or GW.com home page the sign in screen says that this weekend will be double lucky and unlucky points from lock picks. To me, this weekend event won't mean much, but to the hardcore title farmers maybe we will find out more about the lucky and unlucky titles.

A good event would be for a lso-called lucky week-end:
"points from retaining/breaking a lockpick AND lockpick retain rate are doubled this week-end".
There it would become interesting.

I have a 10% chance to retain the lockpick. I go chest running for an hour. I successfully retain one lockpick, and destroy 9 plus the one I retained. That nets me 500 lucky points and 500 unlucky points. Unlucky title, first tier, is at 5000, and it's useles... Lucky title, first tier, is at 50 000 points. I would therefore have to retain 500 lockpicks to get the first tier, and 2% bonus for my lockpick retain chance. 500 lockpicks retained equals 500 sets of ten farm runs.
Which equals about 26 days and one hour.
Not to mention the time it takes to find and open lots of chests.
What purpose does this weekend serve again?
And why don't the lockpicks work more like lockpicks should work? Like have 50 uses and 10% chance of opening the chest instead of losing one use???

i recon this is quite cool. tickets cost a fortune in the end but then again say 10 sucesfull picks would get you 50,000 points this weekend. looking at this i recon spending 1.5k on lock picks wouldnt be that bad

10 successful picks would be 5000, not 50 000. ANd it would costs 100 picks without counting the retained ones, which costs 150 000 gp.

Blimey A-net you are seriously out of ideas at this point. Would it be so hard to have a weekend event that people actually cared about? I think a weekend event that involves unique drops is the way to go (i'm thinking weapons). Not more double this that or the other tosh!

Eh I will do this weekend like i do the others and just play it casually, since I don't have the funds for enough lockpicks for it to matter at all. For the rest of your rich folks though GL and happy chest hunting ^_^!

I don't really mind the fact that the weekend event is what it is...I'd just like to see another double Luxon/Kurzick faction week I think many more people could make use of it.

Well, if you are getting close to the next tier, it might be worth it if you want the next level of your title real bad. Unlucky- 30,000 gold per 1,000 points for finding and losing your lockpick on twenty chests.
