I know, that the most famous artists/designers/photographers in the world, but I was astonished that "normal" guys playing Guild Wars can take such aesthetically pleasing pictures.

The past week was a lot of tinkering over the same basic shot. Here were a couple that were a bit different and had consideration for submission:
 This shot, I thought was quite dynamic, but I couldn't get over how wasted the staff was. I asked Lokii if we were considered to be "modelling our weapons" and when she said yes, this shot went out the window.  I really liked this shot because it was all about the staff. It shows the details of the weapon really well. At the same time, I couldn't get over that Amergin wasn't engaging the viewer and had no reason not to. I ultimately decided that the shot I sent in was a better compromise between the pose and the staff.

o m g. wow, just wow, theres something about your shots.. they dont seem forced and they're so elegant. ALl of them. I guess that could be a problem later, but honestly, theyre beautiful.

Here's some of my favoyurite places/scenery I tried out for this assignment but didn't choose. I really liked the crazy nightmareish feeling in these, with the croocked branches and tower tops. This was my first idea but I ended up using something else which I think fit the assignment better. Hopefully I've made the right choice. ><   Had a little accident too. Iah you lazy bum git up. Pink dreams. Sleeping spell?

Well, I sent in my assignment - so just like Iah, now I get to wait. I like it alot though, so I'm not toooo nervous *-*
Here are my outtakes from the first location/idea I had. I ended up going with something else, so these shots are just for fun now  Horses and Violet symbolize pride - or so I read on google. Notice the horselike outcropping behind me and my 'horselike' pose Yeah, I know, I'm amazing.I'm so sexy This shot was full of win, but got relegated to the trash heap cause my other shot wins more LOL I had so much fun with this assignment, I wanna do more of it! I'm in a slump x_X the new target system has made taking screenshots a thousand times harder, because if I try to pose with any NPCs their hgafdgafagdfgadsafgdgfadfa names and health bars will light up! Same with items dropped on the ground, their names are visible a mile off. Thanks a bunch Anet, you've just made Gluttony a pain in the ass because I can't A) pile every single food and drink tray in Tihark into one hugeass heap and knock myself out on top of it, and B) I can't flirt with the tray-bearing NPCs.
Plus, I'm unofficially one-handed now xD.

Ohhh and Billy really loving your last shot allot ! It's really beautiful! Love the angle too... but here to leave you some critizism too ;p it doesn't remind me of pride though. Very beautiful nonethless.. and can't wait how your other one looks like since you said it's even more awesome ( good call on the horse idea too )

 didnt submit this, because it seems more action-y then advertising. I dunno, im still pondering over it. I love that stretching arm cloth though. AND AYE! Julius's shot were SO hot, definetely a standout. And even though Djarom is gone... GO Szei GO!!! >.>

So Julius is friends with Tidus and Billy is friends with Julius and I am friend with Billy and we were all on at the same time so naturally we thought it would be a good idea to stomp some luxons!
 Ranking a poor dervish who doesn't know that models have attitude!  More Ranking!  ... More ranking? We are going to lose a lot of fame for this... Anyhow, after many victories and voguing, we decided to have a cheesy group shot. Go Team!

Love the homely look of those shots Szei/Iah it brings a really nice sensibility to your work... maybe not hot and steamer, but definitely more than just friendship. Tbh I don't think anyone hit hot and steamy on the head this week other than Lucy.
Anyway here are some of my out-takes for this week assignment: This would have been probably my 2nd favourite shot, very similar to the one I submitted but from a different angle. I was pretty keen to include the Great Northern Wall in the shot this week as a historical landmark but the shot I submitted had much nicer lighting. Ah, um... Rurik... we're kind of having a private moment here... I don't suppose you could go find a Charr or something to bore with your repetitive stories..?

Well, today, I was reading the assignment for the contestants after seeing the judges say some were off, seeing where they were off, and I got the idea that you could have used a fire elementalist skill to make it look like a flare you were sending in desperation, like in Jaden's picture with the flag, but it didn't quite work, not enough facial expression, the poses didn't work, and it looked more like I burned the ship as it left me stranded... Oh and I'm in the Frozen Isles because I thought it would bring out the flames...
Attempt 1:  Attempt 2:  In all, I think it would have been a good idea for a shot if someone could have pulled it off better than I did, which isn't saying much considering the competitors would be able to think of some way to do it...

Some great ideas there Calypso, I was actually going to suggest to Lucy that she try to use some fire skills to create that kind of effect, but she was going for a different kind of look. The first one in a different location with different armour would have made a very effective shot.
This week was really hard, largely because the brief was a bit ambiguous... it wanted us to look desperate and ask to pity, but at the same time it demanded that we posed our asses off. I wasn't sure whether we were trying to look good or trying to look bad and invoke pity. Here are some of my out-takes, basically I didn't use them because while I found them more aesthetic than the shot I submitted, they were a bit generic. This was my No. 2 shot... very pretty, but didn't look desperate enough. Damn I hate being stuck in this tropical paradise... Save me before I die, plz thanx. Ten pin bowling anyone? |
