Assign gift drops to characters instead of making it a nasty free-for-all?

I was there and people we're arguing over the presents. I even remember a guy saying "I got 20 presents n00bs!" and then everyone flamed him. Insults we're flying all over... we'll it was quite entertaining for a while...

If you don't move and stay in one spot, a gift will appear sooner or later near you.

If you run around triying to get them all, people that are already near them will pick them.

Everyone can get sugar items, everyone can run around, everyone can pik them.
All valid points,

The majority of people who were complaining werent people who didnt get any but were people who simply wanted more.

I went into the international districts and from there i go no lag at all, but even so i never bothered with any sugar rush/Jolt etc. i just picked a spot either near a NPC (if no one else was nearby) near a afker or somewhere on my own (if all the other 2 types of spot were taken). I just picked up any pressies thay spawned nearby and got a nice amount.

One time i had serious lag and then my network disconnected, so i fixed the problem came back online and contined where i left off and still got a decent amount of pressies.

This is the only event that has unassigned pressies and as such its more unique future Dragon events should be just the same.

I dont deny there was alot of Bad blood but the majority of it was 6 of one and 1/2 a dozen of the other with people being jealous, greedy and offensive. Thats just the way some people are unfortually. I saw enough people suggesting that others spread out to stop there pressies being stolen to realise that people just werent listening to good suggestions because they wanted more than their share and virtually lost out to any nearby spawns by others with less lag or with Sugar Rush/Jolt.

Just because someone has a better (uber-gaming) computer with the highest tier of broadband internet does NOT automatically mean they should be allotted (rewarded) more gifts than the "average" player (which I consider myself).

While I disagree that the unassigned drops are okay the way they are, I just wanna thank you and everyone else who argued nicely in here for giving good rebuffs and not just saying "lol i disagree bcuz i got a ton of presentz hurrhurr"

Most people aren't going to district hop since there's no way to tell if the demons or players won, but I'm glad it worked for you. I find Int'l too laggy at the best of times and stick to my home turf. Also, you're right that some of the whiners were probably people who got their share of gifts and were just mad they missed out on someone else's; it's a good point and I didn't think of it that way.

Still, the events should be for everyone. There's plenty of competition everywhere else in the game, and the dragon festival itself had special PvP/Rollerbeetle/mission events for people who wanted extra challenges, so why can't we just relax and have fun after beating the demons to the charges?

That's really all I'm asking for. And as someone pointed out early in the thread, random drops like that really only work if the gifts are useless novelties like sparklers and poppers. Giving away coveted stuff like game cash or wine/cakes that can be sold for a decent amount of g or used for title tracks are nice, but dropping them around randomly and expecting people to be decent about it? Not going to happen.
