lol Your memory is dead!

And for all the people complaining about the Dragon arena, STFU.

Its perfect balanced PvP. The only advantage you get is personal skill. If you suck... Guess what? You suck.
Its dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge!

Personally I kick ass at it, love the speed boost, just side 'click' (the real secret) away from there shot, blast back!

[i]But I'm sure everyone else would want some kind of spike skill *roll eyes*

The other game I was hoping to enjoy was rollerbeetle races... sadly its exactly like I remember, Like having a fit, the rubber banning and lagg ;'( I'm cursed by poor connection.

Yeah I put this hat in my storage with the antlers of Grenith. Dragon arena's pretty much luck, strafe and hitting someone when they're hitting someone else. It's supposed to be dodge ball. Isn't there some lag issue with the server in Europe?

I actually had fun. I ran 11 chars through all of the easy token quests and got lots of sugar and alcohol as I didn't care about the hat. And getting to run around in a sugar rush chasing down presents with everyone is probably my favorite part of any event that Anet has given us.

People want perfect balance that solely relies on skill, but then complain about it.

I've made 50k in two event, present dropping things. I love this weekend. Wish they would do this every weekend.

I am glad ANet did this. From the news I had a "dragon"like feast was organized. It was like last year, but it was kinda fun. Got me some cash on the process too.

I didn't really expect for something different and exciting, so I was really disappointed. I was hoping for some cooler masks, though. Who'da thought I'd choose Rice Wine over a hat?

1) The hat was an anti-climax.
It's not something I'll ever put on my character's heads!

2) The missons were too hard, and obviously aimed at more hardcore players.
I thought they were "stupid hard." 1. The rewards weren't enough to justify going through them. 2. If it were meant to be a re-enactment of last year's events, then I would think that the "actors" wouldn't be quite as good at being a grasp as an actual grasp would be. 3. They clearly were not designed for the 70 - 80% of GW players that fall into the "casual player" catergory, which seems to me would be the target audience for these kinds of events. 4. The OP said it best "...but isnt a festival event meant to be fun and exciting. I found the missions to simply be frustrating and agonising." (even without the bug)

4) The other items you could exchange for tokens, werent all that exciting.
10 tokens for 1 rice wine, or 1 firewater? Which to choose, which to choose??? (if you went with the firewater, you got a MUCH better bargain) Everything else - meh.

5) It didnt seem very "Dragon" related.
I saw lots of dragon tails sticking up out of the ground.....

7) Something wasn't designed very well, because that event caused A LOT of lag.
That was the final straw - I left during one of emperor's appearances because I couldn't help with capturing the orbs and couldn't pick up any gifts They should have been assigned like Wintersday, I thought They had learned their lesson about that!

Oh wow cause its all about making 50k from two events
And just think every weekend if it was a festival ZOMG!

I feel let down about the helm/hat/mask too, from what I read it sounded like a mask, I think it was actually called a mask. So I expected something like the nani(sp?) thingie. When really its a 'hat'. It just sits on your head, they could have just said hat. It still kinda cool to run around with it on.

Actually it is, the 50k from events can buy me 50 skills.

50 skills are much more useful than a hat.

The Dragon Festival was awsome, but the lag completely ruined it for me.

I've played GW ever since about 3 months before factions came out and I've attended every event since. That whole time, I've never, ever had a problem with lag, unless it was due to my own internet. Now this whole event, I've been having trouble just moving around, much less actually seeing what is going on in fights and such. My fps is fine (30+ at all times), but about 80% of the time, my average ms is at 11,000+. Its hard to really do anything with ping like that... PS, my internet is fine right now and I've played several other online games this weekend and experienced no lag at all, so it's definitly GW that's causing the lag.

I was luckily able to play the dragon arena during one of the times when I wasn't lagging too much, and it was still the same as last year, AKA really fun.

The quests seemed basically the same as last years, except with some interesting dialog. They were a little too easy, but I guess they allow everyone to get the tokens for the masks, even new players...

I didn't even try to do the missions because of the lag, but if they are similar to last year's missions, then I have no problem with those (I loved last year's missions ).

The finale was nice, but was also by far the laggiest part of the whole weekend for me. That and it seemed more...how do I put this...demonish, than dragonish, I guess, even though its called the dragon festival... At least I have a new mask!

Overall, I'd say that the festival would probably get a 8/10 or 9/10, but because of the extreme lag, I give it a 4/10.

Missions:
Seemed a bit overwhelming, but if i had more time, I would have figured out how to do it with 4 people or me and three heros. The 30 minute window kinda killed it for me.

The tokens:
I got 250 rather easily. I did the 4 quests that were available (rather easy at lvl 20) and got 240 tokens. Logged in with another character, and started the same quests and got the last ten need for the mask plus more to spend on Creme Brule for sweettooth title (finally over 300 points now). Plus, if you have a free slot open, roll a disposable ele or mesmer, and do the first two quest with lvl 6 henchies from Tsumei village, deposit tokens and anything else in storage. Repeat. I got over three stacks of tokens that way.

Gifts:
I would agree that assigned gifts would have been better. However, this is much a maturity and community issue as it is a idea that many feel that should have been added.

Rollerbeetle:
Tired it once this festival--I too had lag. Decided to spend my time elsewhere.

AFK Rings:
I didnt not afk, but I did spend time answering festival questions while on the rings. Didn't get far with titles since I did not want to spend alot of money on tickets.

Dragon Nest:
In small groups, FUN! In large groups with people using speed boosts: looses some fun but still an enjoyable game.

Dragon Arena:
Tried a couple rounds, just didn't catch on to it or enjoy it that much.

Over all:

I thought the festival was decent, although I didn't care for the hat. I only got it to add to my hat trader's collection. I also feel bad for those who missed the festival last year and waited a year to get a dragon mask but did not get it this year. As for lag, I seem to be the only one without any lag whatsoever. In fact, this is the first time in ages where I haven't had a lag issue. *knocks wood*

Also, when collecting presents, don't click on them, but rather use the hotkeys to pick them up after giving yourself a sugar rush AND sugar jolt. Stand by a group of people since that's where they spawn, and you'll get loads of presents. Camping the afk 9-ringers for presents = ftw.

The games were fine although I was dissapointed that they took away XP from the dragon arena and I could no longer level my newbie characters. Oh well, it was an exploit anyway.

Overall, the main thing I wish was different were the missions. They should have either lowered the monsters' levels, or made the missions available in Kaineng so you could form an 8-person party. They were just too hard and not worth the 50 token reward (that's the reward I heard anyway).

Best thing about this event was the easy quests for 240 tokens. I think that really helped out casual players since it took little time to get the 250 tokens for 1 mask. Completing them again with your other characters lead to 'free' alcohol or sweets or money for selling the items.

I was greatly disappointed with the missions because of the schedules. 30 minutes window? That barely covers time to make a team and risk a failure or two for these missions. The only good thing I saw coming out of this was the use of the party search window. 100 districts and probably half of them are filled with afkers in the rings forces people to look for groups in other districts.

Boardwalk games are unchanged so it's same old same old. I like rollerbeetle although I didn't play as much this weekend.

I didn't have much lag issue so I was able to avoid grasps well and run the charges. It would be nice if the dropping of the boardwalk prizes were assigned as others said or popped in inventory. I averaged around 20 something prizes just staying in one spot and grabbing what was near me. It's easier when people are evenly spaced out. I saw people complaining of snatching when they're standing with two others pretty much right next to them.

To start this off...
1. The demon masks to be were either a hit or a miss. Really depends on the individual and can look good on certain professions. My assassin looks good with it

2. The missions are easier this year than last year. Heroes ftw. The rewards for these missions should be better than the quests tho.

3. Victory tokens are cheaper and easier thanks to the festival quests. I've buying them for 6.5 to 9k (7.5-8k mostly)each to just to buy Crème Brûlée. I find it a waste of time to keep making characters to do the quests.

4. The festival isn't exactly "Dragonish" IMHO and the fact that it is shorter than last year was blah to me but still fun.

5. The dragon arena was entertaining maybe except when your teammates seem to not load or lag like crazy.

6. The rollerbeetle races were fun except when people were camping boxes to block others from winning the races.

7. The free for all presents was fairly fun except for when people got too greedy etc...and didn't bother to let others to grab or give a few because they had lag. Anet should to reserve couple presents to people that needs to be picked up so that people with lag or unlucky may get a few and while not rewarding AFKers with presents. Also it would still have the fun of the grab as many you can

8. The lucky and unlucky titles FTW? got prosperous.

Overall, I enjoyed the festival and the lovely re-enactments despite the lag some or most(hope the Germans resolve lag issues) people suffered and a few with immature usage of party search.

The highlight of my weekend was going outside instead of playing GW..wooo.

What annoyed me alot about the festival was that doing the four quest netted in 240 Victory tokens. The last 10 tokens took me more time then getting the 240 tokens as Dragon Arena only gave 3 tokens per victory.

Present Camping certainly was a competition of it's own, the rest of the festival was just, meh.

But I said this multiple times today: Dragon Festival brings out the WORST in people.

I wouldn't have minded present assigning, but I can get more without it. Dragon festival brings out my candy greed.

Got 207 presents!!! Gotta love free stuff. Courtesy of ;+Space bar.
-66 bean cakes
-54 Wine
-102 Creme Brulees
-13 Platinum from presents =)
-Demon Mask
-Little amounts of sparklers, champagne, and fireworks for a bit o' fun!

A great year, had lots of fun with my cousin and guildies, hope to have more memories like that.

Now for the bad part:

-The mask wasnt too good on my character.
-I took advantage of a level 2 assasin, buying 250 tokens for 2k. I admit to greed and profiting.
-I saw a lot of racist jokes and profanity in all chat during present spawning.
-Was not dragon themed enough.
-Had plot spoilers for people who didn't beat the nightfall campaign.
-The "15 Minutes!" bug messed up a lot of unaware players.

Two major complaints I have:

1) Lag - agreed with everyone else, but this is nothing new for any special weekend event. Blah. Starting to get used to it anyway.

2) 2 days long!? So far every special event with quests, prizes, and masks during the finale have been at least a week long. What's up with this crap? The development was not only rushed (most of it was a copy of last years, except for a handful of scenery, NPCs and dialog), but I feel rushed to try and get everything done in two days, on top of work and school. Ridiculous. I've been able to play a whole 2-3 hours tops.

On the positive ends, the dialog changes that make it feel like a big play are pretty amusing. I'm making lots of money, and I made it to first tier of Sweet Tooth on my warrior, finally, thanks to the prize drops and tokens. I'm also just thankful we're getting what we got, considering I was beginning to question if we were even going to see any kind of Dragon Festival again. So I guess since I had no expectations, anything is better than nothing.

Oh yeah, the spawned Boardwalk Prizes during each finale really should've been assigned ala the Wintersday gift spawns. Would stop a lot of the bickering that occurs during the victory ceremony. It's disheartening to see everyone having so much fun, then suddenly turning into greedy bastards and cursing at each other over whose spot is whose.

I don't understand everybody that complains about lag. The only time I have problems is when multiple users are logged onto my PC, with all kinds crap running in the background.

Before you play, log off the other users, and "End Process" for iTunes, anything HP related, and anything else hogging up your memory. You'll be much happier.

TERRIBLE lag (I got up to a 77000 ms ping during the dragon fest, the WORST lag I've ever had playing GW (I've played on the same computer and set up for 2 years, surely there was more people playing during Halloween 2006, why was lag so much worse this time around?). It caused my computer to crash.

The quests were just reskins of the previously made ones. New textures and models for the monsters and a few new lines looped into the quest dialogues... kinda happhazardly thrown together.

And my BIG complaint. MANY districts during the finale were completely bugged (demons winning 900 points to 3) making it impossible to win. For crying out load, the code existed already from last year. Granted you fixed the dozens of Emperor Kizu bug, but don't they test their stuff at all?

If you figure the entire weekend as merely a reskinned copy of last year alot of the problems make sense. The things that hadn't changed (Arenas, boardwalk stuff, missions, unassigned gifts [I mean they learnt from the Dragon festival about the loot stealing; and fixed it for wintersday], bugs/glitches) I don't know if we should feel jipped or excited.

I mean all there efforts has to be going elsewhere, normally there all out for there weekends, progressive improving on the formats. So maybe there focused on GWEN and couldn't do much more then a resikn festival?!

I'd really like the next celebration to have all of the edible and other types of gifts available. If I had known how useful the clovers were going to be when partying with hench, I would have gone mental trying to get as many as I could.

Please please anet let us have an event with all edible and other gifts!!!!

I forgot about that - OMFG the bugs were numerous and annoying. Some districts had the insane score for the enemy like you say, others had the timer and grasps, but no orbs and no score. I think those districts still have grasps running around right now, and a LOT of them, too. They don't appear to be getting stuck on anything like last year, but they are seriously bugged and pretty much make those districts useless for finales. It's not just high districts, either, just random ones.

I don't think any other holiday is ever this bugged. I mean I know there are bugs, but not this bad. Dragon Festival is just poorly slapped together.

The only reason it was "pot luck" was due to the amount of lag this weekend. It's a vastly more interesting game when you can actually time the dodging of orbs.

when i ended up with this:

i gave up on the rest of the event. pathetic presentation on anets part. no debugging software or what???

Dragon Festival without dragons: 2.5 out of 10
- Same 9 ring games etc
- Same dragon arena
- More rollerbeetle racing (.5 comes from this simple addition to event)
- For failure to add anything truly new.
- Added replacement npcs for the same demons, some textured towers and a windmill portal (i did seriously laugh when i saw that one)
- A lame mask out of better demon choices (which can be found on the npc replacement demons). could have gave us a choice, and maybe dying it(dying isnt that important though)
- And the neglecting to test the changes before sending it live is just unacceptable.

When you say we get an event, I don't see notes about "sorry if you encounter major flaws or glitches during the event, we might fix it next time when we recycle the content next year. no, we don't *cough* hate Cantha."
I mean its ridiculous now, next time just don't bother, stay with the simple weekend events, at least those generally don't have problems when it comes to a short spanning event.

Had Fun on this one!! Sure it was pretty much the same thing as last year but It was a great way to earn some extra gold and have some fun. The Missions were pretty much insane but I like the challenge. Our PUG finished the first mission but i could not get into a pug that could finish the other missions. But had fun none the less. I can't get enough of events so anything that comes our way is much appreciated. I was able to get my hands on 241 Boardwalk Prizes. It was not the best looking mask ANET has come up with but it will add to my collection none the less. Thanks for the fest ANET! Look forward to the next one you guys come up with.

It would be Really cool to have a Festival that sort of takes us into the GW:EN story line!

quests where ok, guild farmed them, need more experience tho!

missiony things where annoying, 30min window, spawns, monster skills etc, pants reward too.

liked alot of the stuff tho, like the actors, the jokes in the quests, the spinny wheels, made some friends too

hats off to all those who where kind, and helped others, thats what made the festival really special, and maybe the best yet for me :O

I had fun as I did last year. Was the same thing as last years event with minor modifications. I managed to finish the Haijun Lagoon mission; however, the reward as last years was not enough for a though mission. The mask, blah, is ok I guess. No lag for me what so ever and I have enough sweets and booze til haloween. Overall for me was a 7/10.

I liked the event. Why? Because unlike most people, I made money off of it. I gained something like 150k by the end.

Thing is, I never sold anything to others, I simply used the Merchants. I had 250 Bottles of Rice Wine and 250 red Bean Cakes, each stack was worth 50k. It's nice having ten level 20 PvE characters to do quests with.

Missed it. Doesn't bother me that much aside from getting a few rounds in the dragon arena. Don't mind not getting a butt-ugly mask either.

These events are often at the wrong time for me because for some reason I'm usually less able to play on a weekend than during the week. When I saw there was a time schedule for the events I pretty much wrote the whole thing off.
