Ok stop freaking out. Think about it this way:
Arena.Net is a separate developer, and NCSoft develops all the other games by itself. So take GW out of this deal with Sony PLEASE. The games that might cross platform: Exteel, Smash Star, Soccer Fury, and perhaps even Aion ( which is quite unlikely ), along with Tabula Rasa ( which is quite LIKELY ). Don't forget about the possible Lineage3, CoH/CoV sequel, and even a Auto Assault sequel, which would actually play better on PS3 than on PC.

I'd be for an independant GW game on the PS3... ie one that isn't PC and is designed with the PS3 and its capibilities in mind. Whether it is an MMO or more like a GW version of Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance doesn't really matter much to me.

Ok, so NCSoft made a deal with the gaming hardware side of Sony (meaning games coould appaer on the PSP and PS3) and you guys scream about this?
Now if it had been with Sony Online Entertainment (who butchered and murdered Star Wars galaxies and Matrix Online) I'd be there screaming with you

Guild Wars on PSP, i've often contemplated that.
8 skills on a bar = 8 buttons on a PSP, dpad controller, wi-fi net connection...why not! I'd be all over it like a fat kid on a chocolate bar
Can't see it happening but it'd be damn cool.

What is the possibility of Guild Wars appearing on other platforms? <snip> we're looking at how broadly Internet will be adopted for the next round of consoles - how much people really get into that. Right now, for online games, it's all about PC. That's where the online gamers really are. If that changes, though, then we're ready. All of our technology is developed in an engine-agnostic format; we can very quickly plug in the client component for different platforms. Certainly, all the back-end technology, the server technology, doesn't care what the host platform is at all, so we could very easily do versions of our games that inter-operate across different platforms. we're keeping an eye on the technology - but we love console games, and I'd love to see Guild Wars on an Xbox or a PlayStation 3. |
