i have long been contemplating the idea that GW should be playable offline as well as online

understandably PvP would be out the window..

but if you want to PvE on your own then it would be a great solution to dealing with really annoying lag..

that way you would not be required to have a good internet connection to be able to run the game properly...etc.

I know this would probably be difficult to incorporate into the game but...meh

Just wanted your opinions on this idea?

this idea will never even be taken in consideration

Guild Wars = a MMORPG game style (not pure MMORPG but is a kinda)

if u want a offline RPG game, u can find betters for sure, since the old Dungeon Siege(s), Diablo(s), NeverWinter(s), etc... since they made for single player campaing and multiplayer support

but now GuildWars..., game itself was suposed be most used on pvp if i'm not wrong (Guild Wars ...) and game campaigns work properly because lots of people play it, now if u play game on OFFLINE, u will be ALONE just u and HENCMEN/heroes, to who u buy ur items? to who u sell ir items?, when u finish game what are you going to do? try Primeval Tombs, Domain Anguish or the Eltie missions on Hard Mode with HENCMEN??

I realy think would make no sence make this game even support offline, but stil is what i think

I have no idea how much they would have to rewrite the architecture of the engine to make this even possible.

Just play some more Oblivion.

I like this idea, but I know it will never happen because of the way Guild Wars is built. Guild Wars client is really very limited, all the game logic and actions are performed at the server. This is done to have a larger degree of immunity against client side cheats.

Also, an offline function would greatly increase the risk for cheating and botting. If it's offline, ANet can no longer monitor playing and things like money or title cheating / botting would become larger problems.

As Kinn said if u wanna play rpg go try Morrowind or something (Morrowind pwns Oblivion ). GW is supposed 2 be played online if it weren't they would have made it a normal rpg.

This game's fun because I can play it with my friends and talk to people. If I want a lonely one-man grind, I'll load up a Final Fantasy or something.

Do you mind having the game take up 10GB instead of 3GB? Most in game data is stored in the servers. In order for you to be able to play offline, you'd need to download all of that data.

Screw you - Oblivion owns all.

Anyways, regardless of if this a good idea or not, it will not be implemented, because (as said before), the game system is not setup for this, and the risk of cheating would increase drastically - even if characters played offline are only playable offline.

Oh right, like Kournan guard stats are even a fraction of the size of their graphics.

Guild wars is entirely online for a reason. To store any information about your character on the servers, so that players cant manipulate it themselves by changing data on their local machine.

Imagine you had a programming wiz kid, who knew how to hack the GWs code. They could go in and basically give themselves all max titles, best armor and best weapons etc etc.

Anet needs to keep most of the game data on their servers to prevent this.

How would outposts work if pve was offline?
Where would the interaction be?

A key part of pve is interacting with other players within outposts and towns. If pve was offline, then how would all these people populate the same place at the same time?

It could be done offline, but it would remove all and any MMO aspect of pve and it would be a purely lonesome game. And some people dont like using AI to fight in missions and quests.

I like GWs because of the MMO side and interacting with people.
