Ok, I'm in as well. I'd like a little more info on exactly what you're planning. This could quickly degenerate into a "tattletale brigade" or a witch hunt which wouldn't be good for anyone.

If you're going after the scammers and exploiters ruining the game for the rest of us, I love it and I'll help.

BTW, I LOVE you're new title, "Monkey Pwner"!!!!!! ROFL!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this thread was established to discuss why some of the biggest dupers in the game that are well known throughout the high end community are still playing the game while a number of innocent players are getting banned? With that said, given that Gaile wanted the names of these players, I'm positive they have been ousted yet they still remain in the game.

I believe some of us just want to do our part and help ANET clean this mess up.

All well and good until you start accusing the wrong people... But yes as long as you take the screenies and have sufficient proof that they are scamming/duping/wthever then I'm all for it.

Considering Anet have failed to catch some of the original dupers who are still playing. It is nice of the community to help Anet by doing their own invesitgations and reporting them to Anet. If Anet cannot catch the main culprits then I am sure many others have not been caught. There is nothing wrong with helping Anet and pooling together resources to ensure dupers are banned.

If people are innocent Anet wont ban them. If guilty hopefully the community can provide enough proof to ban.

I dont believe these ppl are looking to get into heaven or GW2 BETA I think they could really care less about that.......

I believe they are trying to get together because there are still ppl out who where trading the mass amounts of duped items.

and If that is stupid in your eyes then obviously you dont care about the game, and really dont need to be in this post

As much as it pains my hard heart..The Zinger is right.

Max, as much as I admire your dedication to this game, it's misguided. Let Anet worry about the dupers. You're not a private detective, you won't be able to do anything they can't. The only thing you will do is get innocent people banned.

Just let it rest, this whole "duping" crap is getting out of hand now.

Those who reject this idea are entitled to their opinion but in all honesty, they fail to see the gravity of what is transpiring now. There are those who are playing right now that are essentially getting away with murder so to speak and I will leave it at that.

We could pool money to buy armbraces, then destroy them in some sort of ritual cleansing of Guild Wars. Or, you know, not do that as well.

That's a tad dramatic.

But if you are playing that card...then you know that vigilante justice is against the law, right?

Seriously though, how will you know someone duped? Are you going to base it on the price of the armbrace they are selling? A price which might be low because they in turn bought it cheaper. Unless you see someone who says "I duped these" and take a screenie of it I fail to see how you can "prove" anything.

It has nothing to do with the gravity of problem. But its just as grave of an offense if you inadvertently get someone banned who didn't deserve it. If and I stress IF you can offer concrete proof of someone duping or admitting to duping then sure report them, and if you want to waste your time in game scouring the outposts for the scant few that will actually be stupid enough to admit it then go ahead. But the minute you get someone banned who doesn't deserve it then expect to lose all support.

Like I said, only if you knew what many of us know and can confirm. You can try to put on the defense attorney hat and attempt to discredit us but it will be to no avail. I am for looking at both sides of the issue so I appreciate your inquiry as it only adds contributes to this discussion.

My only concern is this: How would you know anything concrete about the dupers? Were you in-game with them? If so, why didnt you report the issue several weeks ago when you found out what was going on?

Unfortunately, while this neighborhood watch could be a good idea, the only way you would have access to any information that ANet doesnt have in their logs, is if you were actually present during the offense...Which brings me back to the question of why it wasnt reported sooner. Were you all participating? Were you benefitting from the exploit in some way?

If you are gonna do this, do it the right way. Dont keep it all cloak and dagger...I'd like an explanation.

How can you personally prove that people duped? Duper dumps all his items to someone else, can you prove he did it or just go after the person who now holds the duped items?

I think this is a real gray area and folks need to tread carefully. Tempers and emotions regarding this whole fiasco are pretty high and we all now that can lead to a "mob mentality", which isn't good for anyone.

My advice to all: Calm down, sit tight, and let Anet handle it. If they don't solve the problem to your personal satisfaction then I would say grow up and deal with it or stop playing.

Personally, this whole thing has not affected me or my gameplay in the least so I guess I am just clamer about it. I understan about the game economy and blah blah blah but just sit tight and this whole mess will smooth itself out.

If the point of this is to:
Step 1: spy on players to find out who duped and is still playing
and then
Step 2: blackmail the shit out of them for NOT revealing their names to A.Net (by making them give us the dupped crap!)

then I am SOOOOO in!

If the whole initiative will go into the direction of Step 1 and then
Step 3: report their sorry little asses to A.Net

I am SOOOOO NOT in!

What?

I don't think there should be a massive list made up...but i do believe that if you have information regarding this that you should forward that to A-net. I mean after all they asked for info...and it is a game we all love to play...and someone tried to take that away from us...so by all means send in names etc...but don't make a list

suspect #1 is fuzzywazzy...he has 6 armbraces
Suspect #2 is Was A Bear...he has 239 armbraces
Suspect #3 is Fuzzy Wuzzy ...he has 1750 armbraces
Suspect #4 is Had No Hair... you get the point...

make a list send it to anet but don't distribute it in the community...if "true" highend traders share names etc..of those not banned and agree to not trade with them...that works for me too...but don't make it i think..or he might..have hard proof.

I believe that your heart is in the right place and respect the fact that you want to see justice done. We have all been affected by this exploit. I have been disconnected several times over the past week in the middle of vanquishing a map and in the gate of madness so not being able to reconnect to the game really sucks. To have this option taken away because of people’s greed and selfishness makes it even worse.

I wholeheartedly agree that the exploiters and cheaters deserve to be banned. I also have high hopes that the innocent players that got caught up in this whole mess (and I believe there are many) will have their accounts reinstated. Gaile herself stated that there would be more accounts banned and that after researching that some accounts would be reinstated. So accepting that statement from Gaile, ANet is not finished yet, in fact it is fair to say they are just starting and have a great deal of work left to do. I think ANet is the most qualified and will want to be as fair as possible, they just need a little time to sort through things.

If you have proof as in screen shots by all means send them in. However, a mob mentality will do much more harm than good.

What do you care if someone still has a few leftover armbraces? Honestly.

Sorry, but that is just not true. First of all, I don't think we're talking about just a few leftover armbraces. Herbalizer and Max have implied that there are some power player dupers left in the game. These are folks that have amassed millions and millions of gold.

Sure, they won't affect my gameplay much, nor your gameplay. Honestly, about 95-99% of the players out there will never notice them or be affected by them. However the high end trade market in which Max and Herbalizer participate on a regular basis has been destroyed by this. Their gameplay has been seriously affected by it and they understandably want to do something to stop it.

I understand what folks like Malice Black and Zinger are trying to say. If this Brigade is going to work it needs strict rules. You can't just start up a group and start accusing folks of bannable offenses without hard proof. It's also not in the best interest of anyone to go about spreading a person's name all over the forums. Just send your proof to Arenanet and possibly to others that you feel are in danger of being harmed by this person. (i.e. other high end traders that may be thinking of trading with him).

If this Brigade is organized I think it could very well benefit from having someone like Malice Black in the group who is there to play "Devil's Advocate" and keep the witch hunt in check.

In the case of Chunky Monkey, I agree with what Max Gladius did there. He posted Chunky's screenshot without names in his initial post regarding the suspicious armbraces. A 60! page thread was started, players and Arenanet quickly took action to prevent the exploit from going any further. No names were mentioned until Chunky himself started replying multiple times to the thread with "I'M Innocent!!!!!! I don't own any armbraces!!!!!! Unban Me!!!!!!!" posts. Only then did Max come out with proof that he wasn't as innocent as he claimed.

Personally, I don't think you should go around the forums posting stuff like Player X is a dirty rotten lying scumbag. He scammed me yesterday and stole my lollipop!!!!!! Yet if Player X pops into the forum and starts posting tales of how wonderful a player he is and everyone should help and trust him, then it's fair game to reply with screenshotted proof otherwise if you know that he's a dirty rotten lying scumbag.

Read the logs of Shing Jea ID1 on Sunday while the Redux was on.
A little clique were standing there talking about it etc etc
I'd also recommend ANet take a close look at some of their pet Guilds.
Sometimes these problems start a lot closer to home than one dares think.

Yeah I fully agree with what everyones wanting to do is to get rid of all the Hackers out there that defiled the EULA and they knew they were doing it, thats the sad part. So all in all I should think **********, **********, and ********** should be investigated to the fullest extent, because they were some of the people that were offering insane amounts for the high end minis.

Even if some people get away with only a small amount of portioned Dupes, they did not earn them nor did they follow the rules of the Eula, so in my opinion for those who bought duped items, should not be considered Guilty, because they probably did not know what they were getting into, but for those who know they are Guilty and have defiled the EULA, those are the true people that should not get away with this.

But yet again, everyones been saying Guildwars is not an economy based game, they play the game for fun and none for drama. But yes this is utterly pathetic where you have to cheat in a "Game" even yet off the internet is well to advance ahead of where you were before without taking the time to think of how many other people are going to get hurt from it. But yet, I guess Greed is humanity's favorite trait. Yes, I would like to see the culprits caught and be dealt with accordingly and the innocent people go free.

Vigilante Justice is enforcing punishment yourself, outside of the law.

This is more of a "Community Watch" group, where you simply report the offenders to the authorities, and let the authorities determine if punishment is needed.

I'd really love to know how it is you can be so certain. I couldnt even say for 100% my wife isnt a duper and she sits on the desk next to me!

Sorry, I'm all for banning dupers but this is rather assissine given the size of GW and the number of locations plus the fact that you have no way of knowing what someone has or hasnt done.

If you have concrete information then do as Gaile requested and pm her the name and email support with any relevant info but please stop this kind of silly 'neighbourhood watch' scheme which in my honest opinion will not serve any good.
