I feel i was wrongly banned
Lilith Moonraven
I know i've not broke the rules of conduct yes i played for 20 or so hours stright and i logged out to get some sleep and when i tried to log back in i'm banned.I've e-mailed support but i doubt it will help.So thats basicaly 100 bucks down the drain cause i can't reuse the access keys.I'm highly upset about this.Any advice?

Keep sending support tickets. Be polite and responsive.
If you truly haven't done anything wrong, then ANet will respond with the same courtesy.

well if you really haven't broken any rules...then stick with the support tickets...people do get banned unfairly on occasion...and they can get the ban lifted if you haven't done anything against the rules.
If you have done something against the rules...then you are out of luck...even if it was your little brothers roomates cousin who log on to your computer one time..and ran a bot program.
so if innocent...keep pluggin away and respond to thier emails...if guilty buy a new cd key

But then again are we getting the full story? Because is it against the terms to play for 20 straight hours? I'll be damned if i read them.. I just blindly agree to them (But I still play respectfully and responsibly.)

Actually, contacting support is the best thing to do.
were you mostly farming during that time or what? I'm played for 36 hours straight, without anything happening.
Word of advice, every couple hours or so, Go somewhere and Chat. That's NOT bot behaviour. that is the most common reason people get banned.

Being banned sometimes has nothing to do with the actions taken just before the ban.
As others always say, are we getting the full story.
Keep contacting support.
Edit: What would actually be a good sticky for this forum would be a list of "Why you may have been banned"
- Running a bot/3rd party program
- Offensive in-game behaviour (swearing, lewdness, racism)
- Scamming
- Duping (the most recent crime)
- Receiving illegal items in bulk from duping in exchange for high end items
- Buying ingame gold for real world money

Be polite and responsive in your contacting Anet, don't be afraid to keep in touch with them over a long period.
They know what you did and how u broke the rules, they have the logs and all the evidence they need to prove there side. They will un-ban if you are innocent. But if your guilty as sin, they know that and can also prove it. So if its alittle more then just playing 20hrs do ur self a favour move on and get over it.

I feel you, homie. I was afk all day, logged off at 3 am when I got home because I was tired and logged back on to a ban.
I've sent in three report tickets asking them to re-examine my account only to receive bot responses something to the tune of "We are looking into it."
On the plus side, players I know who have actually had duped items on their accounts have already received notices from NSOFT saying that will not entertain any notion concerning the re-activation of their accounts after having only sent in one report.
I am hopeful that since I haven't heard anything remotely helpful from NSOFT/ANET that they actually are looking into the reason behind my banning (and the other innocent "what the crap happened to my account!" folks
I can remain hopeful, can't I?

best way is to stay in contact with them....also i am pretty sure that you can buy another account etc...although you will need to use a different email address...but if you really haven't done anything wrong then they will unban you ....
Becareful what you say in all chat as that can result in a ban...although it should be a temp ban if that was the case...unless you have been banned for language before.
If you have to buy another account...get the platnium edition it comes with prophecies and Eye of the North...or look around for the trilogy...for around 100 bucks or so..
Good luck man

I was banned for using third party programs 2 weeks ago. Of course, I didn't use any... After sending (polite but firm) tickets asking the reason, my account was back 3 days later...
If you're innocent, they'll unban your account after checking it...

no one presents the full truth if they are indeed guilty of what anet says they are guilty of...so all we can do is accept your word that you haven't done anything wrong...and present advice on how to get unbanned.
Bans for inappropriate language are only permanent if you have been temp banned for that before (or if you had another serious mark on your account...such as scamming or something)....and if so...you should have learned your lesson the first time.
This sounds like a mistake ban though from what has been posted...so follow the advice people have posted...if they refuse to reactivate your account then and only then should you purchase a new copy...sometimes it can be difficult getting them to reactivate it...persistence is the key....good luck getting your account reactivated.

If I were you I'd wait and see what the support team has to say, and read the "banning" terms carefully... You might have access to your account again within the next few days.

support can be slow to give you an answer you can use. Just stick with it and you'll get there... so long as you weren't using a bot or some other perma-ban worthy offense.
But from our point of view, there is absolutely nothing the forum members can do. A-Net won't share any info about rules infractions by individual players due to privacy laws. So you can say you didn't break the rules here till you are blue in the face, A-Net can't contradict you publically with details, and so we can't see both sides of the story.
Heck, this all started today. At least give support 24 hours to sort it out... 48 would be more reasonable considering the fit that's hit the shan lately.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm....
Either
A) this really was just a mistake, in which case just give it a few days and Anet will clear it up (be patient and polite, they're hella swamped right now after the "great dupe fiasco") They have a very good track record of fixing mistakes as many here can tell ya.
or
B) there's something you aren't telling us. To be kind, maybe you aren't aware of it. Generally there's something though, they don't just get some weird twitchy finger to ban lol.
Either way Anet usually gets more specific with what the infraction was when you're emailing from what I've seen.

Note to the OP don't pester support the more tickets you send to them the more they start to ignore you. Also what type of ban 1 hour, 72 hour, or permanent ban?

Yer just get a support ticket sent off asking why where you banned and that you think it is un-justified. They should reply back quite quickly.
Patrick Smit
You have read the EULA? maybe you then know that you did something that is in violation of the EULA. Maybe you could then say you know you were banned unrightfully instead of feeling like that. Maybe you did something against it that you werent aware of as being a violation of the EULA?
Like suggested above, did you buy loads of duped items during the dupe crash? Then yes, you got banned since you bought a smelly product. You farm alot? Care to explain on the situation a bit?

My brother was mistakenly banned a short while ago. He submitted an e-mail to ANET Support and prompty replied to the initial automated e-mail sent by their systems and every response thereafter. His account was unbanned in under a few hours tops.

Did you buy a lot of armbraces very cheaply or a lot of ectos very cheaply or a lot of anything very cheaply? That might be it.
Retribution X
I never can get this. they sometimes ban the innocent, and ignore the guilty.
Just please answer this, were you farming during the 20 hours?
I really can't think of anything other then buying duped items by the bushels that would get a perma ban. except for buying gold.

I'm not picking on the OP personally, but I'm sick of seeing people post about them being banned on here.
I got banned about a month ago for the same thing ( code=045) , but I didn't go in here and post about it.
I simply sent a ticket to anet, followed thier instructions, and in less than 2 days got my account back.
Accidently bannings do happen. And thats what happened to me and many others.
But I don't see any logic in posting about it.
If one did send a ticket knowing they did nothing wrong, and still remained banned after anet researched it, then I'd find that an interesting topic.
But yes, just because you got banned and have yet to contact anet about it isn't anything new around here.

What Rusty said.
You just have to deal with it.
