ANET - How long for Reconnects - its punishing the real honest GW players!

Disconnects dont matter anymore with the reconnect feature. The fact is that all of this duping and cheating with the disconnects are all on the pve side of the game. No one can gain any unfair advantage by reconnecting in PvP, why punish us too?
PvE players have brought this upon themselves, so why cant anet just ban all the people who did it and not make everyone fear for disconnects in PvP battles that really matter if you lose one person.
In pvp, if you lose a person in GvG, you have consequences, you lose rank and rating, and you have to work that much harder to bring it back up. In pve, you die in a mission, you dont lose gold, your items dont fall out, you dont face any consequences other than having to start over. Anet needs to work better to separate these Random punishments so they dont just screw over everyone.

Hm, I guess I'm lucky to have a stable internet connection. (XS4ALL Internet FTW) No disconnects for weeks. God bless Europe.

Death lvling in pre, and for whatsoever reason disconnect after 8 waiting hours and tell me what u think when u try reloging to the same map and u get the error msg!!!

Anet's fault or the player's fault.. there's no reason not to have reconnect back asap. This is really hurting people that do domain of anguish. I've been in groups with people that d/c way deep into the quest and they wish they could have reconnected. This is happening to me too.. I cost a team all their hard work because I couldn't reconnect. What a waste of a lot of effort. These players in DOA don't deserve this and neither does anyone else. :\

I cant say that disconnects are the fault of ANet, and i am even of the opinion they often are not, but none the less, the reconnect feature has been a godsend and saved many wasted hours. Many times my router gets downloads from the provider and these unfortunately disconnect me from GW, but the reconnect saved my place and it was great.
Now it is gone, i'm still not too affected as i have already completed the main stories and i am mostly SS/LB farming or doing all those little side quests.
What really worries me is that it may not be fixed before GW:EN comes out and i can see that being a real big problem, especially with all those long dungeons.
If ANet could just confirm they'll have it all switched back on before GW:EN is released (preferably before the preview), i'll be happy.
Any official word would be great Gaile, if only a heads up of current progress.

To be quite frank - does it really matter if you can item dupe? You're not getting any advantage out of it whatsoever. The only abuse it can see is for gold sellers, so why not just focus efforts on taking them out instead?
Reconnects however, do matter. There is a vast amount of money riding on such features, and many were made to wait for an incredible amount of time. Just look at Guilds like MH, who suffered horrendously when Reconnects weren't implemented.
Alternatively, disable out of outpost trading.

I live with a family member, and even if I did have my own place there is very little choice of ISP in this area. Some people have no choice at all and live in remote areas where they are lucky to have any DSL service at all. Please, get out of your elitest butt holes and take a look at the rest of the world.
It IS a problem and affects the quality of game play of a lot of ANet customers, and future customers. I know (or hope) ANet is working on the problem, but it would be nice to have some kind of progress report.

Vanquishing / Hard Mode / Elite Missions are off the agenda until reconnect back. ANET will be aware of the reduction in these activities for certain so I am sure they are working as hard as possible to get reconnect working. Then I imagine a few DOUBLE REWARDS weekends for such events to boost the numbers again.. hehehe.

I agree that its not ALWAYS the foult of the costumers internec etc i myself never had a problem with disconects but lately for a month or so i did and the feature of reconnecdtion have saved me numeroes times im not Elitist and i dont do FoW or Urgoz or Underworld or PvP i am plain PVE i go i help pps out thast it ans reconect feature has helped me help others its been now 10 month i played GW and didnt have a [roblem 8 month i do not know what is the reason for it But i dont believe its mine As facts proove its not mine i do not blame A-Net but i dont leave out a possibilyty i have a proffesional computer techinisian/programmer that has worked with these things for over 20 yeasr and even she cannot find the problem with PC so dont blame Costumers and start looking at other possibilities besides A-Net

I really hope Anet gets some work on this, reconnect has been out of the game for how long now, a week? A guildie disconnected at the end of Joko's Domain HM (After 4 hours), I just DC'd in the Hidden City. If we had reconnect we could just go on, but no, it's taking them too long.

If ANET removed PvE, long drawn out missions and quests would no longer be a pain as they wouldn't exist.

So, here is my idea played out in a wonderful script!
It was a lovely day in Bellavue Washington. Gaile decided to take a drive down to the L.A. Data Center to see the Guild Wars servers and have a cup of tea in her favorite coffee shop in L.A.
Gaile arrived at the LA Datacenter, walked in using her top secret ultra cool black keycard of +7 to accessing special areas. Then, she used her blue keycard +12 to entering off limits areas! card to access the server room. She was strolling through the first 2 isles of server racks when she noticed a fruit fly.
Of course, Gaile wasn't about to let this evil fruit fly get away with evil doing... Remember, Gaile has +10 to Detect Evil, so she knew what the bastardizing fruit fly was up to, and it was NO GOOD!
So, Gaile brings out The Sword of 1,000 Dead Flies, which I must say... has some amazing stats!

So, Gaile pulls out her fly smiting sword and is ready to use Crippling Slash on the evildoer, BUT THEN... she thinks at the last moment that she took out the wrong sword!! NOOO!!!!
Gaile had accidentally pulled out... ZINROCK Destroyer of Datacenters! Alas, it was too late... Gaile's swing was already in motion, and she was using Frenzy, so she couldn't cancel in time...
THe entire datacenter imploded and then exploded, then imploded again, creating a massive rip in the space time continuum, in addition to several black holes and supernovas. L.A. was completely destroyed, and Gaile was nearly killed in the blast... but luckily for her, Izzy had just rebalanced Mark of Protection to actually make it really good, so she survived the blast.

I'm feeling the pain, too. We let the whole team know -- via the CS -- that this was a major issue and the community would like reconnects reinstated as soon as possible. The situation is, in all honesty, we don't want to "turn reconnects back on," until we've tried to break it every way from Sunday, to assure that someone doesn't abuse the system and start the duping again.
We caught the last duping issue quickly, and we removed pretty much every cheated item from the economy, but we'd rather prevent the matter than correct it afterwards. That's why it's taking a few days to get reconnects back in place. Please bear with us -- it's for the greater good that we take the time to do the double and triple checks!

Personally I'm glad duping is gone, but our guild has refrained from doing much PvP as no reconnects can be painful...

I personally dont have a problem with re-connects, the occasional error7's i get are courtesy of Anet rather than my line.
It is a problem in HA tho, especially since 2 of our monks share a connection, its getting pretty common to reach latter maps and find an Archer Henchman on each side.

I'd expect that the reconnects will be the first update after GWEN goes live.
Reasoning: the reconnects will take some work, and Anet will be very very busy with the preview event - server load, and bugs that survived the alpha tests and similar. These will be adressed, however, there won't be time to fix them before the 31st. So, immediately after that, the collected data will be incorporated into the next update.

I'm going to say the same thing I've been saying. I do not care about reconnects untill Saturday, but they really should be in the game by the time the Gvg Tournament starts or there will be some very unhappy Pvpers. And before you say the whole "It's for the greater good of the economy," guess what, most of the people actually playing on Saturday ['s tournament] don't care AT ALL about the PvE economy and that reason for the absense of reconnects will surely fall on deaf ears.
Please don't respond to this post with a "Well PvE is more important" or "Thats tough for you, just deal with it" response, think of somthing a little more creative please.

I play gw on linux (bless wine) and because its not windows there are disconnects every once in awhile (more so in pvp, not really in pve). Without Reconnects Any long quests are out of reach for me -_-

No 1 sad PVE is more important then PVP Just lately PVPers were complaining about alot of things Favor system for one and those snotty hardcore PVPers insult PVEers when they defend their gamestyle so dont start saying 'PVP is more important than PVE" they are both equal and there is no argument about it.

Thanks for the update Gaile.
Here's the troubles I've had since the reconnect feature was taken away:
-Vanquishing Prophet's Path, fighting my last group, Kephket's group...only 2 scarabs left...I get disconnected...lose all progress. I later go back and try again and successfully vanquish the area.
-Vanquishing Talus Chute...quite a difficult area...get probably 3/4 of the way through and pretty much all of the hard mobs out of the way....I get disconnected...lose all progress. Haven't tried this again....but at least all of the mapping is done.
-Vanquishing TOA to Ascalon with a group of 8 from TOA...vanquished all the zones from TOA to Old Ascalon (successfully vanquished Old Ascalon)...I intended to continue on to Regent Valley, Pockmark Flats, and the Eastern Frontier. I take a short break to get some lunch....I get disconnected and can't continue on. I later go back and vanquish Regent Valley and Pockmark Flats with a group of 4...but fail in the Eastern Frontier due to the large groups of Grawl.
-Since I failed to kill the grawl I started this morning from TOA to take a group of 8 there and vanquish the area. I got almost to the portal to The Breach in Diessa Lowlands...but got disconnected...3 hours wasted. This was due to my ISP resetting my connection as I lost all internet connectivity...not just GW.
Am I frustrated by these disconnects? Absolutely...but I still want Anet to fix the Reconnect feature correctly before reintroducing it to the game. I'll find other stuff to do and limit my risk to disconnecting while playing the game.
Again thanks for the update Gaile...I'm glad they know we want it back ASAP, and I trust they will do just that.
To the PvPers: It would take longer to code it to differentiate between PvE and PvP than actually fixing it properly...so just let them do that...fix it properly. Losing reconnects has just as big of an impact on PvE as it does PvP...and I'm sure both PvE players AND PvP players were involved in the duping (some PvP players play PvE too you know). This is not a PvE/PvP issue...so quit bringing that crap into this discussion...you're suffering just like we are. Deal with it like we are. Instead of asking for the reconnect feature to be implemented before it is fixed you should be concentrating on calling for a delay in the GvG tournament until the reconnect feature is fixed. I'm sure you won't have to wait too long. It's a top priority for Anet at this point. This is the one issue giving them the most grief...and they are no doubt working as hard as they can to silence the Anet Bashing about this.

Since this problem popped up I have been "doing other things". It just a matter of time before I, and others, get in the habit of "doing other things" and break the habit of playing GW. Bottom line is Anet stand to lose a lot of future revenue if the problem isn't fixed ASAP. I sure hope they are aware of this, and get things fixed soon.
Personally, I don't give a rat's hairy butt about people duping items. Ban them, restore the reconnect feature and ban anyone in the future that exploits game bugs that in violation to the EULA.

Because there is a short down time we can't reconnect? Its so horrible...it hasn't even been outrageously long that reconnect hasn't been fixed. The time its been down so far has been understandable.
I do other things whenever GW does not come out with there skill changes (I get bored of stale skills) yet I come back, if your going to quit GW cus of a reconnect feature that will be fixed soon and is being done because they care for the players, I dont see wtf your whining about.

If they fix the exploit that means theres less bans to go out, means less problems for them, less problems for a large portion of GW. And they might have to do a rollback if it gets too bad...so why not prevent future dilemas?

We greatly appreciate your patience and understanding as we worked through the entire reconnects system to assure that it was functioning as it should in every respect.
Checks having been made, testing having been conducted, you should see a roll-out of reconnects in one of the next live builds, likely tomorrow or Thursday.
Again, we're sorry for the period of time during which this feature was disabled, but I'm personally confident that each and every one of you would agree that protection of the game economy, and the prevention of damage to the community as a whole, makes waiting for a few days for the "all clear" to be more than acceptable. (I hope you're all with me on that! )

My isp (Which i will not name) Sucks for keeping me connected so because of all the disconects and having to restart missions /quests etc i phoned them
up and got them to "Fix" my connection and now im happily sailing along finaly at my rated speed and "Not" getting disconnected all the time from guild wars.
Cant wait for the reconnects to be back in place though, it has saved me from failure many times over! thanks for keeping us informed.

For all the people who insist that it is player side, well, these people weren't in the Deep Saturday night when it burped everyone in the deep back to "town" at once. People who had killed Kanaxai weren't able to get items. People who had spent several hours in the Deep were kicked out. My group was in the second to last room when we all froze, but were fine over Vent.
ANet did a good job doing exactly what was needed with the duping, but the fanboy "ZOMG ANet can do no wrong evar!!1!" is old and needs to stop. Gaile will not appear and give you free stuff and free fame for being good little minions.
In other words, applaud what is good and call attention to what is wrong. No reconnects is a necessary evil until the issue can be fixed, but if the servers are going to be as lag happy as they have been, then I hope they hurry.

Also, yes, i do understand why this was done and agree that the situation needed to be sorted and check thoroughly.

I hope they made a new system to reconnect, rather than having to leave the client open and not touch a single button until your connection is "fixed." About half the time when I would try to reconnect with the old method, it would tell me some BS error and send me back to the character selection screen. This was before they disabled it, mind you.
