GW:EN Intro Screen Music - Annoying or what?
SotiCoto
I'm starting to miss the old Nightfall intro screen with the waterfall, the ship, the smaller boat and the large fish....
It isn't that the newer screen with the snow and the mountains and the aurora borealis isn't pretty; it certainly is pretty....
.... but the music is infuriating beyond all bounds!
The repetitive D,D,D,C,C,Bflat,A (I think thas it, but I could be wrong) sequence playing over and over again is almost single-handedly putting me off Guild Wars.... The old Nightfall screen wasn't half so bad.
It leaves me wondering why we can't have some sort of option to select which intro screen settings we want out of Original Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall or Eye of the North. Surely that wouldn't be too much to ask... would it?

Actualy if you ask me it isnt bad the Musik it self shows the theme of GW:EN the war the danger first it is smooth and calm but then it goes into all out rage like a warfare just has erypted and you have all this action and the wieves arent that bad it alwasy needs a change and Nightfall was getting oldish but uyeah i gues every 1 is entitled to their opinion

Personally, I don't stay on that screen long enough for it to annoy me. I couldn't even describe the scene or the music. I'd rather log in and start playing.
DeBron
You only have to listen to it for like >20 seconds when you log in . . . not a big deal.
I personally love both the music and the scenery.

Ditto. But if i had to sit on the log on screen long enough, I prefer the old Prophecies theme song.
The Goldenwolf
Not much wrong with it in my opinion. Just gets loud at most =P
Vamis Threen
Best music yet imo.
I assume someday you'lll be able to choose screen, once Anet stop prioritising GWEN (but it's a sales thing, can't blame em there).

Don't like the music? F11, sound, drag the music tab all the way to the left, done.

i agree thats why i'm hoping one day we can change it up. Mix and match music and bg or just choose which log in screen to have.

Might be the case after GW:EN is released but even then I'm not really guessing it'll happen as GW2 will be the priority. Would be nice but I don't think it will be likely.

All GW music is annoying to me these days.

aaawwwwww...........the encampment was so sweet......I had just now gotten over the loss of the original long in screen and music..........thanks a lot woody....thanks..
I like the new log in screen -- the music is pretty bad ass to if you listen to it for more than 5 seconds.

I personally love both the music and the scenery. I assume you mean < 20 s
If you don't like it there's always mute, or you could even switch off your speakers...

I mean if I was just hanging around on the intro screen for a longer time, I wouldn't mind.... since it changes eventually and melds through other GW musical sets..... but the very first sound you hear is that sequence mentioned in my OP, and it repeats itself far too much.

If you earnestly think I would be willing to go fiddle with the sound settings in the F11 menu every single time I was to enter or exit the intro screen.... you're barking up the wrong tree. Even switching the speakers on and off while going through it would get tedious very quickly.
I don't have any problem with the rest of the music in Guild Wars, and rather like some of it as it happens..... but the new intro is annoying on a previously unheard of level. Free Runner
I actually like the EotN theme. I hated the Nightfall one alot though.

They have already said hundreds of times doing this wont be so easy due to the things they upgrade with each CSS (Look in old suggestion topics)

I prefer the EOTN screen and music compared to the Nightfall one. The Nightfall screen and music was nice too but I guess its all about what you like.
Clord
Simple solution, let us select music in starting screen.
cmdratz
What about an option of having the title screen show the chapter/expansion music where your active character is at the present time? I might enjoy that player-focussed arrangement more, because the title screens would feel useful to me for orientation.

Yep, its annoying as hell. I dont like the background either, although its still better than Factions' (which ironically had the best theme song)
Ive always been a fan of the music too, I have every DirectSong pak available. Diablo???
I liked all starting screens... I just want to be able to choose which one to start with.
Prophecies Factions Nightfall EotN Random.. Chuba
All Jeremy Soule's composings are starting to sound the same lately, but it's still a wonder how well it brings out the atmosphere of the different games

Agreed, best intro so far. It may be the only soundtrack I will purchase. Silent Coyote
If you want to change the intro song to a different one its quite simple.
1) Download the free sorrows furnace pack of directsong. Also make sure you have the latest Guildwars.ds file (can get it from there ftp site). If this doesn't change the start song back to the nightfall one, they have updated it so follow the next steps: 2) open the file Guildwars.ds (should be in the folder you install song pack to) in notepad. 3) find the following line - "loginnf:Guild Wars Nightfall Original Soundtrack/01_Land_of_the_Golden_Sun.wma[500],Guild Wars Nightfall Original Soundtrack/41_Alternate_Theme(Bonus).wma[500],Guild Wars Battle Pak One/16_Rebirth.wma[1200],Guild Wars Battle Pak One/04_Return_to_Ascalon.wma[1200]" or something similar. 4) Change the file path to a different song. should work, I have changed my logon song quite a few times, if you cant find the correct line just read the comments in Guildwars.ds its quite simple. I actually quite like the Eye of the North opening. I liked Nightfall, too. Factions wasn't so great, and I'm not sure I can't even remember prophecies (They switched shortly after I got the game). I find the most recent two very dramatic, and was a bit let down when the Nightfall in-game music rarely measured up. In any event, I like the Night fall theme, it sound a bit like music from Pirates of the Caribbean. Not exactly, but a bit.
Metal Herc
Its the best character screen/music yet. Well, I like the old original campfire one more though...
Neo Nugget
no.....i love it I listen to it on my ipod
Paloma Song
I was glad for the change at first, because I loathe the Nightfall music, and I'd have been happy replacing that with darn near anything. But I'm pretty sick of the GWEN theme now. It's not hummable and doesn't work as pretty background music to lure me into the game. It sounds like something that should be playing in Ironforge, and let's just say, I turn the music off completely in WoW.
I love, however, most of Soule's work. Factions and Prophecies has some beautiful pieces, as do his tracks for Morrowind, Oblivion, etc etc. bloodvayne
I don't care about the music, I want my heroic monument back, with the whale too!
Factions login screen was badass. kazjun
Eh? I like it, but maybe it's just new. Plus, I don't really sit around on the log in screen too long. I sat and listened the first few times when it first came out (and liked it) but nowadays its just straight log in and play. I guess the choice of log in screens would be nice, but I can't say its a priority for me.
Rhedd
I think the new music is fantastic, and I'm not going to use the word "sorry" or "actually" when I say that. It's great.
I really like the new login screen, too. Snowy areas are my favorite, and I love the way you can see the warm lights of a town far away in the valley. Reminds me of parts of Germany. The lighting isn't the very best to pick skintones for new characters, though. That's my only minor complaint. Molock

Factions login screen was badass. Yep, factions had the best log in screen. It was simple and the music was fantastic. ayame ftw
this is un believable every time something gets a changed a little bit there is always someone whining about it... jeeezzze
its not like u spend the majority of your time in the start screen anyway... it takes me about 5 sec to enter my password select my character and start playing... QQ more plz Hyper.nl
I like the GW:EN title music. It would be nice to be able to see the Prophecies and Factions logins tho, because I started playing just before the release of Nightfall I was never able to see the others.

I don't know what you are talking about.
It's the best login theme ever. I purchased GW:EN soundtrack to put that them in the media player over and over and over and over and over and... Avatara
I haven't heard any music in Guild Wars for like 2 years? ^^

Solution: Mute your sound whilst logging in, or F11 > Sound > Music to 0. Simple. No need for a cry about it. Crying goes with sadness... not with irritation. I don't cry; I grumble. Guess you didn't take the "Emotional Responses 101" class. And for the record.... I'm dedicated enough to Guild Wars... but small things irritate me much more easily than major things. Don't even ask for an explanation of that. |
