GWEN Drops..... inscribable or not, share your thoughts...
max gladius
Simple thread, looking for all input and votes that you feel are necessary....
Should GWEN drops be inscribable?
We have all seen the steady decline, or vast decline for some items, do the the inscription factor of nightfall drops....
What once was rare, is no more....
Add your comments, and cast your vote...
Personally, i think they should not be, i think inscribable items, yet wanted something along those lines by many many ppl, ended up ruining the market...
Purples r worth nothing, Golds can all be made to the same status....
ANET PLZ STOP BREAKING THE GAME THAT I HIGHLY ENJOYED FOR THE LAST 2 YRS....
Quoting myself from a post on page 3.
The ideal behind what i am trying to get across is this....
There are many many non inscribable items that are perfect, and still not expensive... Crafters also can make u anything, perfect to any level, that cost 10kish...
If the causual player just wants something that is perfect, 10k is nothing....
There are some rare inscribable items, still.... Tormented, elemental swords....
Many people play the game for many different reasons.... some just farm, some to get every char threw the end of all the chapters, some just pvp, some love 1 class and want to own "rare items" for that class....
My point is more then "the market, or economy". They are making it so nothing has any value, except for the very limited number of some mini pets (that were only released to asia, wierd)... me personaly, i hate mini pets... i thrive on rare skins and stats....
Just an example : There use to be say... 1000 req 9 fellblades 15^50.... now there are 1,000,000 atleast, because all fellblades can be turned into this... so the value, price, want for this item is cut to bits.... Still just 50 mini zheds...
Now your saying.... its just a pet, get a cheaper one... good point... well it is just a sword... get a cheaper one.....
So now, i sell my fellblades, and collect... say.... Spatha's.... guess what.... GWEN about to come out.... guess what... inscribable spathas are proly about to come out... guess what.... time to sell the spathas....
But why, have i not done all i can, as a legit player to earn the perfect spatha?
This is not about "im greedy and want to be only one with this item, because im greedy" this is, i have done my time, i have farmed, i have power traded.... why should someone who got the game 2 months ago, beable to have the exact same things i have?
What is there honestly to "earn" in pve? What is there for the other then casual player to do other then turn a few red dots to grey dots players to actually strive for?
I remember once upon a time, before inscribable.... when a purple item was value, when the "causal player" just went and used greens, or collectors...
How bout this, make everything inscribable, go for it.... and take out all crafters, take out all greens, take out all rare items, make all swords "gladius" make all axes "war axes" all hammers "war hammers" and all staves "jeweled"... lets see how happy that makes all the casual players....
There use to be a point in the "items, rewards" for your pve play, time, and enjoyment... now there are almost none.... you say, play to play, yes, but what happens when u beat the chapter? should i just stop playing till another campaign or expansion comes out? what happens when GWEN is the last one... guess i got about another 2 months left to play.....

They will be. End of thread.
VinnyRidira
I would like to see all blue weapons as inscribable, the perfect add ons are not that easily obtained. Blue weapons are never regarded as to their real worth anyway.
MMSDome
They probably will be but I hope they are not so that the value of weapons says high!
Diddy bow
nope, i dont think so. No matter how much a-net tries to squash it this game has an economy... However they will be inscription
Aenur
I'd like to see both in gwen.
Inscribable for the majority and non-inscribable for the rare skins.
Inscribable for the majority and non-inscribable for the rare skins.
Starsky-sama
I voted yes. (bcuz I think they will make it inscribable. we'll see. )
but If it really counted, I would say "no", due to the fact that I wouldnt mind new items actually going back to the standard of being "rare" again. Not just the skin but the (inherent) stats as well.
/g'day.

Yes pleeease!

It's kinda obvious is it not?

I'm hoping for a change to all insribable drops in all chapters. and a NPC that can inscribe any customised weapons you may have allready.....that would be the best way to go...XD
Sleeper Service
Im betting the launch of GwEn will enable all (non green)weapons to be "inscribable" whether it will mean previously obtained items gain that ability remains to be seen...maybe the weapon merchants gain an "would you like this weapon to become inscribable?" option.
Hyper Cutter
Of course they will be, why would they introduce a vastly superior system in Nightfall and then scrap it?
Also, again, inscriptions do not make things any more or less rare than usual. At most, they reveal the "true rarity" (as opposed to the false rarity you get when you only keep the portion that have good innate mods)...

I could care less about the economy. I play for the fun of it. So I say, the more inscribables the better. Hell, I think they should let you pay money to add inscription slots to items that don't have them (maybe destroying anything in that slot).
R!ghteous Ind!gnation
They will be... which actually helps the economy in some ways... you see people buying perfect "Tyrian" (meaning not inscribable) weapons already for more than their identical inscribable counterparts. Its actually good for those people who have "Tyrian" weapons.

ANET PLZ STOP BREAKING THE GAME THAT I HIGHLY ENJOYED FOR THE LAST 2 YRS.... Lol.. I said similar things in the other thread a long time ago. I got flamed to hell for this. Glad to see I'm not the only one who feels this way.
I agree with you man. This thing already went downhill when purples became worthless.. However, what you are proposing simply wont happen. Anet has a random way of doing things... I cant understand why Zodiac items were suddenly made inscriptable, but making gothic defenders and platinum blades inscriptable is considered "BAD" for some reason... Were perfect Zodiacs any more common than perfect gothic defenders before the "inscribe" update? Not really. What then, is the reason for the change? I don't know..
Some people say that the updates were good. They made everything cheaper and more accessible to people in general... OK. That's nice. But I wonder.. WHY IS IT THAT THERE ARE NO MAX COLLECTOR ARMORS IN NIGHTFALL?
In line with Anet trying to make everything cheap and easy to get, this shouldn't be so! There are max armors in Prophecies and Factions, so why not have them in NF? I hope there will be some in GWEN, but I bet you 100 platinum that it isn't going to happen.
I no longer see any logic or reason in what is happening to GW these days. I tried ranting on forums, but people refuse to see the light. There comes a time when one must realize that there's no reason to waste his breath on these things. I still have faith in GW, and I believe that things will change for the better sooner or later. I'm taking a break from GW until GWEN comes out, and I suggest you do the same. By the time I come back, I'm sure I'll see something I like.
MrFuzzles
I don't see why not. GW is and will always be a casual > hardcore game, and that's just what inscribable drops cater to. It's easier to get that exact weapon you want without farming or grinding your butt off.
Leave the hardcore grindy stuff to novelties like titles, armors, and rareskins.

My bet is they will be inscribable...
I would like to see a mixture....common skins should be inscribable...rare skins should not be....or inscribable versions should be just as rare as a perfect version of the weapon...I think that would be the best system.

I don't want them to be, but they will be.

I still can't believe the tripe I kept from before inscriptions...

Same opinion as mine.

IT would be incredibly retarded if they didn't make weapons inscribable in GWEN. What would have been the point of the inscribing system in the first place if it was for only one section of the game.

I have way too much free time to farm because I'm 12 years old and have no other responsibilities and it makes me angry that other people only have to farmgrind half as much as I used to in order to buy cool looking weapons that don't affect my gameplay.

I hope they are inscribable, I've been able to use less greens and more golds in Nightfall then the other chapters.
Zexion
God, noone remember the developer interview? They said they had plans for doing it back then, the same interview in which they spoke of Insignias on GWP and GWF armors. And we got that.
They said they wanted to add it to all weapons, even from GWP and GWF, however they were not gonna add it retroactively.

I don't see why they shouldn't be inscribed. So your purples are worth something? Bah, grapes weren't worth anything anyway, unless it was a crys or something. And this way, all your gold 14^50's can be modded up and sold rather than being worthless merch fodder.

1. Farming sucks. (Unless referring to unnerfed UW farming in 05).
2. Plenty of people are rich and have full time jobs + families.
3. Heck the wealthiest people are usually those with full time job, grown up and have plenty of responsibilties.
4. If you have an ounce of intelligence there would have been little grind.
5. There was never a problem with casual players owning usable cool looking skins pre-inscription system.
They are going to be added to no point me whining about them.

More like free time to spend trading and pocketing a percentage. That's where almost all the big GW fortunes came from after all.
Inscriptions are better for farming and playing, no inscriptions is better for power traders. Draw your lines with your interests and go at it.

Being that the inscription system was highly popular, the devs will probably do the same for EotN. The interesting thing here is that because the EotN map is connected to the Tyrian one, perhaps it will be a global change affecting both old-Tyria and Cantha. We'll see we're just a few days before the actual release :]

Let's all hope it does.
Also, why would you not want the weapons to have inscriptions? I see absolutely no problem with it.

Of course they will be. The amount of QQ if they go back to the old system would be huge.
I wish they wouldn't, as getting a gold drop means nothing these days.
Oh a gold, slap a 15^50 on it and sell it on...Zzzz
But the newer players have had their hands held too long now by Anet, they couldn't cope.

i would hope so,
the only reason is because i hate getting crap mods on a gold.

I know for a Fact the only Non-inscribable weapons will be Greens. Other then that I am going to say that weapons will be inscribable, there will not be some golds that are inscribable and some that are not because well its jsut more trouble and kinda pointless imo. I sit and watch the market...a lot..and after the 1st couple of months of NF I noticed everything from the existing chapters was cheaper because of inscriptions (obvious). Example- I bought a non perfect req 10 gold storm bow for 55k got mods for 10-15k then it was perfect, before inscriptions they were 100k +XX ectos same with fellblades they just took a little longer. I like the inscriptions because for the folks that don't play as much or can't play as much opens up the chance to get a good/desired looking weapon with out 100+ hrs of grinding to get one. I am however against it because one I started in proph and well the market was more stable. The market started down hill when Factions came out mainly because of mini pets. The weapon market of course was ruined when NF came out and from a seller/buyers perspective it sucked. Now days the only things that really sells an inscribable item (which is every weapon) is the lettering (Gold being the most, then purple), the req and if it is like super rare(crystalline, elemental sword, serpant axe) other then those three factors the item has really no value in its self. So to sum this up I would like to see inscriptions because it makes it more of a "fair" game and have many more options for reasonable/useful costomization, but then again no inscriptions would probably regulate the market more (even though its all fraked up from inscriptions and Mini Pets).
Pupu
god..i hope not.
ravensong
Why to take one step back? They will be inscribable...
Div
Inscriptions are much nicer when you have a billion heroes to equip...and don't want to go out and get greens/collectors.

The rarity of a weapon should depend on how hard is to kill the enemy that drops it, the rarity of the skin and the particular stats of the type of weapon.
Nothing else.
Inscriptions help a lot with that.
All swords have damage and req.
All staves have energy, damage and recharge.
All hornbows have 10% penetration.
But not all swords have +15% damage or +5 energy.
Variable modifiers should be variable. Fixed properties should remain fixed. That's what inscriptions make.
Sooner or later inscriptions will be worldwide, one way or another...
...I'm gona get you...

Hmm, well perhaps the value of inscribable items would be better off if they only appeared occasionally, and rarely on the new skins, as there will surely be new skins that are highly saught after, like the Colossal Scimitar when NF was released. That way rare items would stay rare, and not get their rarity diluted; like the Colossal Scimitar.
I'd really hate it if GwEn's economy went down the tubes becauseof inscription, but then again it could (and has/is) happening the other way around.
Balance ftw.

Of course they should be inscribable. Reason: caster items and shields. 'Nuff said.
