PETITION to change HoM monuments to Account Based!

I hate titles in general but this would be pretty popular and maybe a good thing for anet so

Account based makes no sense at all. If you max a title on one character why would you get it on 10 characters in GW2? The purpose of the HoM is that you don't lose your achievements when the sequel comes out. How can you guys reasonably expect to gain achievements that your characters didn't earn, if you have 10 toons with no titles then you don't lose anything which is fair. If you have two characters which are maxed you still don't loose anything which is still fair. The whole purpose is for the character in GW1 not to be devalued when linked to a GW2 character, so the HoM works. Now that said the HoM is definitely not the smoothest piece of work to come out of Anet, but it works.
The other ridiculous concept being aired is people wanting to piecemeal titles together from various toons to make an account wide KoaBD track which is nonsense because you already have people with Koabd on several individual toons so why would some one who didn't do it one character get it on a whole account in GW2 when the guy who may have done KoaBD on 5 toons gets exactly the same thing?
As far as the monument of valor becoming a closet for everyones junk, there is no accomplishment in that. The destroyer weapons are made from onyx which comes from the dungeons implying that you have done some dungeon crawling but people just by the stuff from the trader so there is no accomplishment in that either. That monument is out of sync with the rest of the HoM imo.

Regarding the above post - I don't believe anybody has maxed KoaBD on 5 toons and such a person should have their computer taken away (for their own good), if they had.
ANet aren't going to change anything, but I sure hope all rewards are entirely account based in GW2. Hell, I'll not buy if they aren't - I've had enough grief from the GW1 "system".

I only disagree with this on titles. Why do I need 5 elite armors per character? Why do I need 11 destroyer weapons per character? Why do I need 20 minipets per character?
As far as titles, since some are account based and some aren't, you already have some of this effect, but even then, I think some other titles should be account wide (Treasure hunter, Wisdom, drunkard, party animal, sweet tooth, basicly all the core ones other than survivor and maxed titles, and maxed titles only because that wouldn't make sense with some individual titles)

all for it. if in GW2 you do get to see your GW1 accounts halls, it would be annoying to have to switch through them all. also in gw1 how are you supposed to show off your halls to people? it would take ages.

My main is a mesmer, but I've also got 9 other dudes. From my interpretation of the HoM (which I'm saying straight up may be wrong), my main in GW2, which will inevitably be a mesmer assuming they exist, will be able to say upon creation that "I want to inherit the conquests and lore of 'main guy'", and then he won't be available in that fashion until GW2 mesmer is deleted. Sort of like GW1 mesmer is GW2 mesmer's father. I like that the mesmer armor I put in the HoM will be restricted to my mesmer, and the weapons he got should be his and his alone (IF it's only going to be Destroyer weapons). I really don't want to title grind on 9 other guys, but I understand the point; my necro isn't a legendary vanquisher and shouldn't be considered as such in GW2.
That said, I think minipets, major area accomplishments (UW, FoW, crap like that), and also account based titles such as Lucky/Unlucky and Kurzick/Luxon should be account based. Therefore, I propose a change to two actual sections of the HoM, a first room which is account based, and a second room which is character based.
Enjoy hating on me

I have a feeling though that ANet will make a decision like this:
Upon installation and start-up of GW2 for the first time, the game asks if you have a GW1 account and would like to "link it" for HoM purposes.
GW2 then scans the account, including each and every character, and the various monuments of each.
It then assembles ONE HoM in GW2 which any of your newly created characters can visit, that has the combined total of all the monuments of all your characters.
So if you have LDoA on one character and two LS3 characters, in the GW2 HoM, you will have both the LDoA and LS3 title monuments (and their unlocks) available to any newly created character.
This makes sense especially if ANet revamps what professions there are, say if Assassin and Paragon are removed from the design for example, then titles from those characters would still be "transferred."
IMHO this is the only sensible way to make the HoM exist in GW2 without alienating many players. I mean, if getting maxed out Wisdom title gives your character some benefit that works for casters, but you got the title on a warrior and can only transfer it to warriors in GW2 seems quite silly to me.
So perhaps leave the HoM in GW as it is, but make the HoM benefits in GW2 account wide and based on the sum total of all character achievements?

like some one already said mini pets are not a good enough to agree to this thread.
As for the title grind, I for one am glad there is a title grind, if everyone had the title I would not want it.
Sorry I cannot agree with this tread

You achieved those titles with a single char and your second char never achieved them that wouldnt be fair

Anyone know why there seems to be such silence on the implementation of the HoM in GW2 from ANet?
Why don't they just tell us how titles will be transferred, and the unlocks? It doesn't make sense to keep quiet on this, unless they have no idea themselves how they will do it!
I can't see any logic in remaining quiet. If they're worried about the playerbase leaving because everyone's "main" is maxed out on titles (not likely, but for example), how will it hurt? Those players will still get GW2, and current server loads will decrease, AND they've already got our money!
Why not just tell us? It seems to me, from a logical point of view, that making the aggregate total of all your characters' achievements in GW1 transfer over into an account based HoM in GW2 is the best way to do things, since that allows people to play multiple primary professions without worrying their achievements will somehow be marginalized, and maintains interest in the game in the long run.
Even at this point, they must have a plan, but to expect regular players, in a game that was originally billed as "skill over time" to have the time and desire to max out multiple "copies" of titles across their character folder is insulting and downright ridiculous. I'm just wondering if there's a link somewhere to some hidden press release that will state how the HoM will function for transfers, seeing as how it was a main selling point for EoTN, you'd think they'd at least have a rough outline...

They encourage us to buy extra character slots to try out different professions, but most of the HoM stuff is jsut grindfest after you've done it once.

I don't think any of us should be crucifying the HoM until we find out what it does, exactly. Seriously, ANet, would telling us how all this is going to work be that big of a spoiler? Can you give us anything besides the annoyingly vague description that's on the official website?
That's wonderful to know...but what does it actually mean? Gaile basically said it would break the fairness of the system if Halls were account based, but we don't know what that system is, so those who have signed this petition don't know why their stance is deemed unreasonable.

Almost no one will fill 10 HoM anyways.

Had this thought last night....We know that HoM reserves name and will give some unknown "benefit" in GW2.
Well, what it you don't want your name but you do want the benefit. Some people may not want to keep same character names. So maybe if you have one full HoM the benefit in GW2 can be account wide. Kind of like /bonus.

If it was my way everything beside armor and level would be account based (so that means weapons, titles, hom...)

You see...I'm pretty sure you select one character's HoM to use because usually (people arn't this lucky, and it'd be kinda sick) your characters aren't treated as a family, so not all 8 of them will be your ancestors.
