GW:EN-Related Problem: Display Driver Stopped Responding

Sorry if I wasn't clear: There is something within the game (I think I mentioned it earlier?) that conflicts with the new drivers. The team is working with Intel to solve the problem. Yes, it seems GW:EN specific, but it's not just GW:EN that is the issue, which is why ArenaNet and Intel are both working on the situation.

well this is a sort of common issue with new releases...as long as intel is willing to help Anet there is a very good chance we'll be playing GWEN free of display errors.

Lets not forget the Nvidia and Ati cards too please.

just a little update on my situation [Intel 945]: since the preview ended, I have had no crashes and can play with normal (high, default, high, medium, high) settings just like before the weekend.

How will we know when this is fixed? I know they are working on it but that doesn't mean it will absolutely happen by Friday. Will we be able to get a confirmation that it's actually ready for Friday? I don't plan to plunk down the bucks unless I know that my machine will work and be supported. Where can we go to get clarification on this issue?

Generally when they do a bug fix as part of an update it is noted in the update explanation. I think considering the scope of this one we can expect it will be included in the notes on guildwars.com.

And if it's not fixed by Friday, some of us will not be able to play any chapter at all........

Set your shaders to "Low" if that's the case. It works for some, but not for everyone. It worked for me, for the most part...

Update seems to be working - tried with shaders back on high and no problems so far.

Yeah, after thousands of complaints, they figured that they couldn't cover it up anymore. Might as well admit and fix a small problem rather than lose thousands of customers. I sent ticket after ticket for days and they still blamed the problem on me. Check it out:

I'd say you might want to upgrade your ATi Catalyst driver, doesnt look like you have the latest version.

I have an ATI 9600 that has been having all sorts of grief since GW:EN. I got to the portal at Drakkar Lake and everything went down the toilet from that point on. So, thinking it was because my drivers were an older version, I did the sensible thing and updated. Now that was a HUGE mistake, because whatever was wrong before was worse by a factor of 10! I then thought I would uninstall all the drivers and start from scratch. I even went so far as to uninstall GW still with no joy.

I'm just a bit peeved by all of the hassle I've been going through, even to the point of opening a problem ticket. The sad part is, I did the -diag and included that along with a not to lengthy explanation of what I had done to that point (including the fact that I had installed the latest drivers) only to be told my current version needed to be updated. I suspect that the tech at the other end didn't even bother reading my complaint, possibly to buy more time?

Ok the Intel problems may have been fixed, but is there any news for those of us who suffered the exact same problem but are running mid to high end dedicated graphics cards from Nvidia and ATI?

Yeah the problem was 2d textures being bound to cubemap samplers. That problem is fixed so it should correct the issues with all the graphics cards/chips that were freaking out about it.

Its a shame it is the newest one.

game runs perfectly now. no probs what so ever. except the lag in overcrowded outposts.

last night i can play fine, but after today update and i login into GW, the game crash and whole system freeze. i use -image parameter and updated lastest nvidia display card driver and still happen

i'd say get yo self a new video card.. i had the same porblem and my card was faulty. Or get a laptop with a 8600Gt inside YAY!

I have tried 2 different brands of vid cards. The NVidia and an ATI they are both crashing for same reason. its not the video cards.

getting a new card isnt easy w/ a laptop..... oO havent seen it crash since it was updated and i turned the shading down.... Oo hopefully i wont...

Okay seriously anet has ****ed up! Okay i have never had a problem running guild wars before and i have guardian of elona fro goodness sakes and all 3 protectors and 2/3 cartograph titles, and i have not had ONE problem. Here comes GW:EN and i start getting driver errors when intering only CERTAIN rooms in dungeons, CERTAIN outpost. Anet needs to fix this cause this is screwing up the game for many people. I am stuck and only capable of doing Norn primary on my characters when what i want is to move forward.

And all plaync says "your computer does not meet the minimum requirements" SCREW THAT! They should have put a label on GW:EN *if you aren't rich and can't afford to update your computer this will be a waste of your money*.. cause it seriously have if i have to PAY more money to experience the game where I have not had ONE issue before. your computer is old enough to be found in an antique shop. the 82865G chipset is now... 7 years old? it's pretty amazing it managed to run the original, let alone GW:EN.

Im running on radeon 9600 agp as well. My system kept rebooting until I updated the driver to catalyst 7.8, and everything works fine now.

Yes i know my stuff is old but i dont even have money to upgrade and i dont know the MINIMUM that my comptuer can handle that will play the game right. Also is ti possible to add RAM to my dell as well without having to have dell do it..

My client crashes five seconds into the loading screen after I select a character. I've tried running with -image, letting it download everything, then running the game, where it usually crashes around 16% into loading the town my character is in, and I tried completely deleting gw.dat so it would reload everything fresh ingame, where it crashes about 5 seconds into downloading the town. I'm using Catalyst 7.7 with an AGP X1950 Pro 512MB, because the 7.8 drivers have a bug that causes some serious glitches with the high-end AGP cards.
