I just read through basically this entire thread, I'm speechless. This is truely a work of art, everything just comes together so beautifully.

I never would've expected one of these "contests" to be this, dare I say it? Addicting. I watched America's Next Top Model with my friend, and somehow, that was addicting, I was like omfg, what's next? Tyria's Next Top Superstar had the same effect on me, it's plainly captivating. Throughout the beggining, I had my eyes set on Eryn and was dumbfounded when she had to go, but GREAT job to EVERYONE. You all really left an image worth remembering.

Awe thanks for the vote of confidence nymph! <3 Let's just say I took a huge risk to be original and yet in keeping with what I believe embodies the spirit of TNTS - wouldn't be me if I didn't try to up my game a notch (u have to if u wanna stay in Pery's awesome company)

As for advice, I totally agree with Pery (lighting and cropping)...I'd definately would read past competition threads, learn from others mistakes so to speak - that was a great learning tool for me being my first time, don't repeat past mistakes, and never settle on a shot until you look at it and say - awe hell ya! - you can't expect others to be excited about your shot if you aren't even saying that.

Ack the pressure >.< I hope I didn't let ya down I just wanted to do everything I could to win, be worthy of submitting at this level, and also - should I come second to you - make u proud to have been given a good fight you're a great gal Pery - It's so nice to like your fellow opponent!

I look so forward to see what a 2 time finalist is gonna throw down for our last submission. I am certain I'll be blown away!

Well well, this week these two girls had their last chance to show us what they had. We gave them their freedom, and let them do what they wanted to do. And quite frankly, I'm impressed.

These girls had no structure from us to base their assignment off of, instead of making this the hardest thing ever, they actually worked "together" to make a themed assignment. They chose, fantasy.

Now, this week, since this is our last assignment, we will not have any judge comments, for as some of you may thought that this assignment was the elimination assignment, well, the suspense adds on, because it isn't. This is just here to show the viewers what our two lovely ladies gave us for their last kaboom.


Each of these girls both did two different parts in their assignment. Thusly two different scripts. Without further adieu.


Rosemary Marron

Showing her love of adventure/fantasy genre, Rosemary Marron continues to work in movies that become wilder by the second. Her current project, soon to hit theatres all across Tyria, is a blockbuster hit right from the beginning. Here are a few juicy details:
Movie: Pirates of the Jade Sea, the Curse of the Black Pearl
Director: Jack Sparraw

Summary:

Ever since she was a young girl, Anne Bonny's greatest dream has been to be a pirate. However, her rich father has other plans - his daughter must marry an upstanding young Luxon officer, who would continue to uphold their family name with honour. Anne does not take kindly to this idea, and runs off with the merry crew of the notorious female outcast, Mary Read. Along the way she discovers she may just hold the key to solving one of the largest mysteries of the Jade Sea. The legend of the Black Pearl has long been held in awe amongst the pirating outcasts of the frozen sea, and discovering it could just make Anne the most famous outcast of all. However, she is not the only one after the great legend. The road is long and dangerous, and only the strongest pirate will survive.

Along with making movies, Rosemary enjoys following other pursuits. Movie stars indulge in a lot of charitable acts either as an effort to boost their career, or as a sign that they really care about other things besides acting. Rosemary has always had a soft spot for animals, and when she was offered a position to be one of the poster celebrities for MSACA (Movie Stars Against the Cruelty to Animals) she eagerly accepted the responsibility. Her salary from the poster advertisement went straight into MSACA's own charity fund and she continues to speak out for our little furry friends.

Queen Kitara Assignment 11 part One- Script

Movie Treatment: For a Fantasy/ Romance

Title: The Soul Slayer
Director: Quentin Quickstudy
Writer: Lyssa Salvatore


A young woman finds she must slay a thousand escaped souls in order to save her family from certain death. The family had promised the Gods the service of their first born upon her 18th birthday if they would allow her to cheat death in the womb as foretold by the monks during her mother's pregnancy. While in service of the Gods, she is given “The Soul Slayer,” a powerful sword that wields the power of fallen angels. She quickly finds herself overwhelmed and knows her defeat will end her life as well as her family’s. Unbeknownst to her, the bearer of the sword cannot die, and commands an angel to protect the master of the sword. She is soon saved by the angel and finds she is the only human that can see, hear or touch him since “The Soul Slayer” is in her possession. He learns of her impossible task and helps her to slay the escaped souls before the end of the next full moon. His chivalrous service wins her heart and they fall deeply in love. But once her service is over she must return the sword. She will lose her wings and will never be able to see him again. She must choose between eternal service for the Gods and see her beloved; or return to her family and never see her true love again. Just as it seems there is no hope, her angel begs her to betray the Gods and keep the sword; a move that will unleash their fury including the captured souls. Can anyone survive from double crossing the Gods?

Casting: Female is thin yet athletic. Must be able to use a sword and shield well. Able to do many fight sequences as well as one on one acting. Must be able to not be overshadowed by a very handsome costar.



Assignment 11 part Two – Picture Submission

The Movie Poster is attached along with original screenshot. Having had a lot of fun with the last picture challenge that involved allowing photoshop, I was reeling with ideas of all the things I could do and add to my shot. Much to my surprise, my lesson learned was to remember the art of restraint. I have erred in the past of “too many good ideas all at once” in a shot and in always trying to remember what has been told to me, I ended up doing very little to enhance my shot as you will see when comparing the original screenshot. In light of the fact that this is a screenshot competition I wanted to spend a lot of my time proving I could get a great screenshot that would stand alone as a fantasy shot without relying heavily on tricks in photoshop to make it better.

I chose to focus on what I thought would draw the fantasy crowd if advertising with a movie poster. I wanted to show the glamour of fantasy, the excitement and difficulty of looking good while in action, and making sure the heroine stands out amongst it all. I also felt it important not to include the costar as he is part of the surprise in the script and adding another character to the poster shot would clutter the picture since the picture still also needs to focus on the sword which is like a character in the story as well as being the movie’s title.




Assignment 11 part 3-Independent Self - Assignment

Although it was not posted, I discussed things over with Perynne and we agreed that since your original pancake bunny assignment was in efforts to see us bring out our own individual creativity; we decided to give ourselves an extra assignment that each other didn’t know about. We realized that although it was a nice effort to make things easier to judge…we missed the boat on our “agreed assignment” with a chance to surprise the judges and think “out of the box”. We only said – “think of something an actress might do to make herself stand out” and left it at that.

I decided to take a big risk and do something we haven’t done in TNTS before. I knew I could take a dozen screenshots but it in essence would seem like assignment 9 again. While a model may have her “book” to show her work; an actress has her “reel” to send to directors. I decided that I would show you my screenshots in a different way and make it more like a “reel”. I applied what I have learned in this great competition from angles to subject matter; to expressing emotion with characters that don’t have facial movement and put it all together to make a movie “preview” of the script and movie poster which I have submitted to you. This is my way of making the assignment come full circle. I honestly feel doing this is relevant to TNTS because the goal of an actress is to be in a movie and one cannot make a good preview if they can’t take a good screenshot. This is my first time trying to utilize these programs and do this but please know I worked day and night to try and give you something that showed true creativity, hard work, and respect of a final submission for this great competition.

Wow TY guys I had so much anxiety at how it would go over with fellow viewers...have to thank my idol & mentor Tidus Yumemiru for co-starring with me <3 We have talked about making a whole series to tell the full story...making each chapter with a different song to fit the mood of the scene...it was hard work but great fun doing it

Kitiara, you should really make the movies. That preview is great. Though I do suggest finding a way to get rid of the GameCam logo =P Not sure how to go about doing that. Anyway, if you do decide to do more movies and need characters I'd be glad to help out. =)

Oh wow, Kitiara! That movie clip is just so awesome, and your poster goes so well with it. I think your original idea just blew us all away, it's amazing that you learned to use those programs just to create an awesome video like this. I definitely want to see that movie if you ever decide to make it!

I'd also like to thank some people who've been helping me out during the contest. A great big thanks to Ashie Schnee, the ritualist guy I beat up regularly for shots at the beginning of the contest. You were just so patient with my rather hot-tempered lady.
Thank you as well to my little brother Argo, for letting me use his elementalist character (Mr. Puddin Hornblower) for all the blonde boyfriend shots. Argo, your ele is definitely the most handsomest surfer guy Rose has ever seen. Your grasp of emotes and an understanding of what to use even when I didn't think to ask it always led to new and better ideas for screens.
And thank you to Sumea De Myne, my lovely little sister who has a wide variety of lovely ladies for me to pick to work with me in assignments. Your ladies should definitely enter a model contest, they tended to outshine even Rose herself! I also appreciated your comments on locations and your patient help for shots where your character wasn't shown at all.

Rargh.... I was really surprised that we wouldn't be seeing results yet, but even though I'm really impatient to see what the judges have to say, I do understand that final voting may take a while. Well, that won't stop me from nervously refreshing the screenshot forum every five minutes.

Kitiara, that movie clip was absolutely mindblowing! Not only have you shown that you can create great still shots throughout this competition, but now you've shown that you can act as well as just pose for the camera.

I'd suggest getting fraps rather than gamecam - fraps doesn't hog as much memory so your game runs smoother

I second that I didn't make time to research who/what was better although Tidus did recommend fraps to me after I had already learned/installed Gamecam - I was just trying to be time concious with figuring out how to use it all heh heh...I had used the free Gamecam..Microsoft Movie Maker 2 and SoundForge...Fireworks MX...CorelPhoto Paint (learned that for the week before's submission tho) anyway it all came together for what you saw Tender Good luck on doing a video I'm touched you felt inspired! <3

btw Tidus also recommended uLead (?) as a editing program...that may be another to consider as well

well i use ulead cos i learned it at class, its a harder programs to run but it gives u more options (or at least it did at the time it was released i have had this version for years now) i don't use movie marker so i haven't compared the two but movie maker is free so thats always an added bonus
and yeah i tried both fraps and gamecam and I'd recommend fraps in a heart beat, as Toutatis mentioned its not as hungry as gamecam and ur movies are much smoother

Ulead videostudio? I'm assuming you mean anyway. If it is I use it as well Its actually very simple to understand, and there are many effects to choose from. I use fraps as well, although when I close it mid game it has a tendency to crash my guild wars for some reason. Congrats to rosemary and kit! Awsome final shots/videos! Rosemary, you were good since the beginning IMO. But Kit, you've improved so much! It will be hard to decide, someone who's been good since the beginning or someone who made some impressive improvements over time!

yeah i meant ulead meadiastudio i have version 6.5 so its a bit old and might not be as user friendly as some of the stuff is now, and i am not sure how it compares to movie maker but i have heard its a bit harder but the features are better. but i cbb upgrading,better the devil i know xD
haven't had any crashing issues with fraps thus far, it might be a case of more ram (i dunno just a guess)

wow. ok first I'm sorry I didn't comment on this earlier, but life has the strange habit of keeping me increasingly busy these days...

what you did- both of you- I think truly is fit for a final Rose's pirate shot blew me away (oooh the colours, the light, the setting, the costumes... /bow), and of course Kiti's video as well (really impressive given that you had no experience in these things)... I don't find it hard not to be partial because I just couldn't decide who 'deserves' to win most. awesome.
