Eye of the North Delayed in New Zealand
KingKryton
they probly delay it on purpose so they force you to buy at the online store where the charge a higher price. its all a conspiracy! :P
lg5000
A conspiracy that just affects Australia/New Zealand? wow, I feel special
Lady Lozza
My issue is that because of the conversion, if I buy ingame I will be paying over $10 more. Apparently the pre-order is NOT being subtracted (can't confirm this) so add another $10, and I may potentially loose my deposit at EB, add another $10. I'm paying $30 MORE and I don't get a box or a CD or a poster or a manual. All for a stuff up that we knew NOTHING about until yesterday morning - oh and there is still nothing on EB Australia about this, I haven't received a phone call from the store I ordered at... Great customer service...
To add insult to injury, Anet "sells" online early - during school and business hours. Ok, hopefully that will mean that there won't be so much congestion when it goes live, but remember it goes live at roughly 7am EU time. So we won't have to compete with the US players, but the EU players will still be trying to buy their games at the same time.

It's not a conspiracy. We KNOW it was terrorists!

CONFIRMED: I received a call from CLARKSON - WESTERN AUSTRALIA - EB - they will not be having GW:EOTN today - they expect it to be in on 3RD SEPTEMBER at earliest.
Call was received 30min ago.

I've just sent a ticket to support to confirm if they are/aren't subtracting the Pre-order from the online store/PlayNC store.
Mr.Deflok
Since the download of GWEN could be potentially quite large (when we buy it from the ingame store), does that mean if we -image now we'll be downloading ahead of schedule?
Lady Lozza
Deflok, I'm hoping most of the GWEN download is already ingame and that come 5pm, 6pm for you, all Anet will do is enable access. If you have acess to your PC running an -image now, might be a good idea. In theory though it should download simply if you have your client open.
Galen Ubal
They did subtract the amount I paid for the pre-order from the cost of EOTN in the ingame store. It's on the email receipt they send you. Note that I'd gotten both the pre-order and the full expansion from the ingame store.

They subtracted 5.00Euros from the price since I already had the GWEN Bonus Key attached to my account.
Running -image now, crazy! Says there's 31,000 files to get. Will have to occupy myself with other things right now.

Ok, I just went down to the city central EB. The store manager had an email which he let me read, "international shipping delays" is exactly what the email quoted. Arrival time is "Monday, at the earliest."
I cancelled my order and asked for my money back - which I got.
I know that there is a post around suggesting a "recall", and even I have wondered if Anet wanted to crack down on early release of the game, for whatever legal or business reasons they may have. None of this has been confirmed. "International shipping delay," points the finger mainly at NCSoft and EB (and associated distributors) but this can hardly be confirmed.
If EB give any other reason other than the one listed, be wary. I know from personal experience EB are not the most reliable or reputable store around. Make sure they give you your deposit back don't be afraid to be pushy on this point. If a store manager in the central district is "refunding" with ZERO argument it suggests that the deposit is completely refunable - I wasn't 100%sure on this point earlier.
I've not yet decided what I'm going to do. I might TRY online, I might just suck it up and wait the week out, we'll see how I'm feeling at knock-off this afternoon.
I might also spend the rest of the afternoon contemplating the merits of writing a letter to someone (ACCC or head of EB operations) regarding the lack of official communication to customers about the delay. We should have known about this earlier, and we should have known about it from an official channel.

Just got a courtesy call from EB in Wagga Wagga NSW. GWEN wont be available until Monday at best more likely tuesday. This really sucks NCSoft shouldn't have a realease date that they cannot meet. AS for buying it online if you have pre-ordered it becomes a costly proposition. You would think it would be possible for Anet and NCSoft to allow those in Australia and New Zealand with pre-release keys to have access over the weekend to at least that part of GWEN
kazjun
Yeah, I'll be down to get a refund from EB. As for whether I can be bothered trying the online store or just leave it till next week, I haven't decided yet. Certainly takes all the adren I was building for GWEN away. Feh. Excitement about a new release? I should have known better.
Lady Lozza
Kazjun, on the positive side there won't be QUITE as many people trying to use the store with the early "release". I'm hoping that it will be able to withstand the combine EU ANZ rush in 3-4 hours time.
kazjun
True, Lady Lozza. I still don't know why they didn't leave any leeway at all, rather than having it an all or nothing shipping only just in time for the release. So what if some idiots can't actually read a disclaimer saying that GWEN won't actually be live till the 31st. What about everyone else who knows it won't be live till the 31st but are more than happy to pay beforehand so we can play the instant it goes live. Its just stupid.
Lady Lozza
Kazjun, I suggest you read the "I'm angry at Anet" (paraphrase) thread in Riverside.
Gaile has said that, well basically someone between NCSoft and EB forgot to put them on a plane. If you think about it logically, and the time Gaile started the "Early sales" (paraphrase) thread there should have been enough time to at least get the stock into the country, even if it wasn't sent priority. With a release now "Monday, at the earliest" the stock certainly isn't at HQ (distro) maybe even not in Australia yet.

Hi donald im in wagga too, small town small world i guess. I just went down and canceled my order, the eb girl was okay about it.

I went to EB Hurstville (Southern Sydney) today and they let me check their preorder sheets for GW:EN. They had 0 copies for the 6 they needed. They apologized and said that it will be Monday at the earliest and they're HOPING that it will be Monday. They said most likely it's Tuesday or Wednesday.
This is just crap period.

The courier service that EB uses to get games to Australia has delayed the product, despite the fact that the service received the GW:EN shipment fom NCsoft in sufficient time to get it on shelves by August 31st. We understand that most Australian stores will receive the game on Monday, although some stores could have it this Saturday. NZ should have the game in stores on Tuesday. We’re very sorry for this delay.
Is that a prepared statement? You darn tootin' it is. Because when we learned that the courier has messed up so badly, we knew we'd have to have something to tell you.
That is truth.
The other in not.
Please share your frustration with your retailer, and tell them to consider using a better or more reliable courier, since neither you, as player, or we, as developer, like to have delays like this. From Gaile Grey
I've just shared my frustration with my retailer (EB Games) and they're adamant that the delay was due to issues with international shipping. To be honest, I'm more inclined to believe it was an EB issue given some experiences in the past. In any event the end result is the same, me and every other Aussie who prepaid EB to secure a copy of the game are left out in the cold for the weekend. Oh well, someone kick some furry charr butt for me.
Success has many parents, but failure is an orphan.
Agent001
It's totally ridiculous how such issues such as "shipping problems" can happen. Is it really that hard to stock it in earlier, so as to prevent any more screw-ups such as this? They should have learnt so from the Factions fiasco.
So annoyed.
So annoyed.

I still think that anet should have thought to ship it earlier. Wasn't there like copies floating around europe a few days after the sneak peak event? And they didn't think to ship it to australia till there was no time left in case of a stuff up? This is actually 2007 right? They use planes right? So they miss a flight or two, so what? I could probably get a seat and fly to the US to get a copy of GWEN if I was that desperate. Doesn't take more than a few hours. If they had shipped with a few days spare...
Yes, EB is bad and the couriers failed, but to not have a fallback plan, or not have enough time to fix the mistake? That seems like leaving things till the last minute to me. That just makes me think that maybe the aus/NZ region is just an afterthought.

Agent, once it leaves Anet, it is out of their hands, once it leaves NCSoft it is out of their hands.
For all we know EB swapped GW for extra copies of Bioshock because they knew they'd sell more of that game (and perhaps for a greater profit?). The point is that it has happened to Australia and New Zealand is UNSURPRISING. We have this happen all the time. Yes, we are disappointed. But being disappointed doesn't make it anymore or less Anet's fault. For all we know Anet off loaded it 4 weeks ago. 4 weeks is actually enough time to send it surface freight to Australia.
Whinge and complain all you like but please understand that Anet is NOT responsible for the distribution of their game.

I think I know why I was charged for the full game plus the pre-order. If you bought the pre-order in game, buy the rest of the game IN GAME. Otherwise, you will be like me, forking out extra for no reason.
I just wish that I had known about this before I bought from PlayNC as I couldn't remember if I had bought the pre-order in game or from PlayNC. I mean it doesn't tell you where you purchased it from, and there is no warning saying "If you bought from here, you must purchase the other from here".
I'd bet my pink socks that is what they are going to say to me when they respond to my support ticket. I'll also bet that they will say "too bad so sad" to me about getting that money back too.
So cranky right now.

New Zealand arent the only ones missing out. I went to my EB games (Northland, Victoria), which i pre-ordered it off, there was 'shipping problems'.
EB was told they might get it in Saturday, if not Saturday, Monday. In my honest oppinion, all of this could have been averted if it had have been stocked a week or so in advance.

Pwny, if you read the beginning of this topic you would realise we have asked a mod to change the title to include Australia. As you can see, they haven't.
Age
You can still use your prerelease untill then as I won't be getting mine untill Saturday.I can still see everything I unclocked in prerelease I live North of the US btw.

So what mini-pet is Australia and New Zealand getting? ^^
(if someone already asked this im sorry i didnt feel like reading 6 pages of whining)

Age, the unlocks are there, you simply can't access it. I can see all the outposts too but I get pushed back to Ascalon or Shing Jea or Istan when I try to map, or else get an error while trying to map.
Anyhow I'm off from work. Almost certain to buy online. I'll see you all ingame in about an hour when it starts.

I know it's not all anets an NCsofts fault. I blame EB as well, and they'll be getting my complaint as well as a demand for a refund. What ticks me is that they didn't ship early enough to allow time for stuff ups. And I don't care how long ago they shipped. The fact that GWEN is delayed means that they DIDN'T ship early enough. And considering how there were threads about customers who got GWEN early, I'm thinking the disks were ready ages ago and they simply didn't ship.
Perfected Shadow
Meh, we always get screwed when it comes to games. Rip-off prices compared to other countries (pretty sure that's the case), and releases not making it on time. Nothing new > <.

ok, all those accepting that its all EB's fault...sit back and chill.
it isnt just EB that has delays. WHOLE of australia has delays, Harvey Norman, Gametraders.....so....ANET is to blame, end of story.
and gaile, next time, dont just make up bullsh*t story blaming anyone but yourself when there is hard evidence showing it isnt just EB missing out on stock if you have more evidence, feel free to please reply in this thread and give us a non-bulls**t story.
and also gaile, would be nice if aussies/kiwis had some sort of compensation for this wait and delay, asd you can see, many people had HUGE plans to play your "GREAT" game this weekend, and now are left high and dry. if this was any other product/consumable in a store, we would have compensation, fairs fair imo.

sigh, at least we should be thankful that anet does not delay our copies of GW:EN until few months later..(referring to GW:F collector edition story back in those days..:P)

DING!! incorrect, Harvey Norman retailers and Gametraders around australia also receive their stock on monday. ring them and ask your self, i rang multiple stores chasing a copy. Most aussie gamers are just too infatuated with EB to remember there are other game stores here
Arwen Granger
hmm, i just bought GW:EN via online store.
24.99 pounds less 3.49 pounds discounts so it's 21.5 pounds which is approx A$ 55.
I canceled my preorder with EB today and got full refund. Had to argue a little but they gave in.

Actually I did go to a variety of stores including JB Hi Fi, GAME and Dick Smiths and none of them said they'd get any at all.
