PC Gameplay 1000 Mini Pets contest
NoXiFy
Yea... why is it that when NA gets a mini-pet promotion from a magazine... it's in every copy. When it's in a foreign one, and theres only lets say 100, than people buy the magazine and BAM they just made about 100k+200e.
boxterduke
I think minis should have been left as birthday gifts and that's it or quests items like the moa. This way all the whining and huge prices would have been avoided.
On the other hand, everyone loves money and Anet is giving their minis to magazines and events gets them more money.

Still no answer from ANET about if its 1000 codes total or 1000 codes for each magazine? Or How many pact of 1000 codes gonna be realease?
I think we are many that would like an answer to this question.

im not expecting 1000 codes / magazine, or 1000 codes total... i think anet threw numbers there to give false sence of security...
I would bet, every magazine printed of the dated / issued one that is said to include the mini, will have a code... so that probably means 10,000 of some magazine, 3,000 of others, and probably 1,000 of a few...
Just stand by for all the listed minis to be as comon as the Mini Gray Giant...
/looks at merchant
/puts all money into lockpicks

Wow what's all the hassle about? I have this magazine and it says there are 1000 codes to be given away to the Benelux (Netherlands/Belgium...). No 1000 codes / country stuff. Just 1000, not that hard . To actually make a chance to win one, you have to answer a question that involves knowledge from within the magazine (this is how they make you buy it). This is the question: "In the EOTN article we can see Jeff Strain standing next to a flatscreen monitor. How big is this monitor according to the article?"
Once you've sent the correct answer, you will get a notification after September 30th whether you are one of the lucky thousand or not. I can't explain it any clearer.
No offense dude, but why do you talk like this when you don't even know what the magazine says? It's simple, as I said before. One magazine will not bring one code, there are only 1000 to be given away. Oh NOES! 10 Additional Vizu's, that won't mean anything, no pricedrop whatsoever.... And yes, I know the actual numbers since I have the magazine. 650 Grawl, 100 Oni, 100 Naga, 100 Yeti, 20 Zhed, 20 Shiro'ken and 10 Vizu's. Maybe the Oni/Naga/Yeti will suffer a slight price drop, but the other's wont. And a Grawl isn't worth that much anyways.

This is from wartower.de (thx google translator :P )
"How we experience today, a code for a miniature seems to be contained in each expenditure of this special edition, whereby some Minipets should be clearly rarer than others. With Vizu a gerüchtweise number of 10 pieces called, which however confirmed at the momentary time neither, nor will be disclaimed can. To leave safe it is only that additionally to the rare Minipets - which will be altogether about 1000 at the number - also Asura will be contained, in order also really each booklet a code beliegen."
So it seems it's really 1000 RARE minis for Germany, and Asuras in the other copies of the issue... lol that's nice indeed xD
Edit - same thing goes for France:
From the second french Elite fansite:
"then for information it will have there a limited number of these familiar randomly distributed in the magazine and to supplement they one put the familiar one Asura already known"
Edit 2 - lol Spain goes this way instead xD
From the spanish elite fansite:
"1000 minipets. One will announce with one double page in the magazines of end of August and end of September, having given itself the prizes in October. In order to participate it will only be necessary to send to a SMS following the instructions that Micromanía gives. It is possible that the one of the SMS does not do much grace to you, but is the best system than one has been, thus covering also the expenses that the magazine can have with this aid. Micromania now uses that system for all its aids. The maximum cost by message will be apparently of 0,90€ more IVA."
Then:
Benelux: we already know, 1000 pets, obtainable through an extraction amongst people registering on the website and having bought the magazine
Italy: the magazine will randomly insert a card in 1.000 of the 70.000 copies of the issue. The card will have the code for one of the minis (lol it'll be hard for these Italian guys, no Asura reserve plan xD)
Still investigating the remaining countries......

no minipets for Romania :-< grrrr...

If it is just 1000 total, then I don't see quite so much what people are complaining about.
If you look at the page then it's kind of listed in order of rarity, in a slightly weird way, seems to indicate most grawl, least Vizu. Fair few grawl in market anyway.
Putting 1000 minis into the market, ok, lowers some prices, but they're high anyway, so meh.
If it was a case of everyone who bought the magazine could get a rare mini, then it could be seen as flooding the market, and lots of people would complain, although personally that is what I would prefer

Just to confirm, so even if I managed to get the magazine overseas, I still wouldn't be able to benefit from this contest?
Cause although I don't live in Europe, I probably could get a couple of those magazines here, but if it's not open to non-Europeans to participate, I wouldn't bother then.

Only for people living in holland and belgium can enter.
it's somewhat lousy translated, in dutch it states it's only for people living in belgium/netherlands, english says: "This competition is open only to Benelux readers of PC Gameplay Magazine".

And still no angry Luxembourgians posting their complaints.

I backtracked a couple of pages and didn't see this posted already - apologies if I missed it.
This month's UK PC Zone contains the following blurb about the promotion coming in the next issue (which will be issue #187, December 2007, on sale Thurs October 11th):
Great.

So, this sounds to me like I could buy up every single copy in every newsagents in the area, and still not get a pet. Or, some random person who never even heard of GW could buy a copy, and have a golden ticket fall out of the packaging before going 'eh' and throwing it away.
"The next issue of PCZ will be nigh on magical, with 1000 bronze, silver and gold tickets to be won, and subsequently cashed in for Guild Wars in-game mini-pets [...] A bronze ticket nets you a Grawl, Longhair Yeti, Naga Raincaller or Oni. A silver gets you a Shiro'ken Assassin or Zhed Shadowhoof. And the ultra-rare gold tickets, of which there are a mere handful, grant you a Miniature Vizu. Shake the packaging if you want to try and guess what's inside - is it a DVD? Is it a pet?"
Great.

it sucks that benelux people dont get a minipet unless their are one of the lucky 1000, while in America everyone who buys that mag he gets a destroyer minipe which seems nice too.
But lets hope I'm one of the 1000

The "ticket in the box" idea was to say the least stupid.
Even after swearing that I would avoid this offer like the plague, I broke down and decided to buy a copy of PC Gamer (UK edition). I had to visit several shops before finding a box that looked unopened. Almost all the boxes had had the small sticky strip sliced though. I eventually found one copy that looked to be unopened, but still got nothing.
The was no reserve back up "asura" or anything for the UK readers.
This whole thing could have been handled a lot better in my opinion.

Anyone who has a minscule amount of self respect will stop buying any of the magazines concerned in the pet lottery.
They claim its Arena-nets fault, well I don't care just because someone comes up with a plainly stupid idea didn't need you to aid and abet them in carrying it out.
Its Hurt all the companies involved and deservidly so.
Tell them now and plainly you are not pleased and that you intend to boycot their magazines from now on.
Otherwise the next limited offer might be be in game items.
New green weapons but only if your account is based in such and such country.
Or how about a Samurai character class "not available in Europe of course"
Special game addon only for America/Asia etc etc, ok so I am probably a little ott on that but then maybe not.
As for me Im off to the European court of human rights I feel ill from stress caused by my ability to get a detroyer to play with.

I don't really think anyone is complaining that americans don't get enough attention, but the problem is when something is released in the USA, we get the least rare items. The PCGamer articles are a good example, mini Vizu's go for thousands of ectos, but mini destroyers or asuras go for 30-50k because of the sheer amount of them. It'll be great when we get some contests like the PC gameplay one that don't oversaturate the game with minipets that are more easily available then some of the white minipets.
Bubba
No response here yet either. I also entered in the pc gameplay competition
EroChrono
I'm glad no one heard anything yet.
I was so sure I was going to win, yet no news.. I figured the impossible happened and I actually ... didn't win o__0
Luckily there's still hope.
*Waits impatiently*
What does suprise me;
The Benelux PC Gameplay was the first magazine which offered a 1,000 mini contest, yet it seems the last (european) magazine to actually hand out the mini's.

And even if i can't do anything about it, its still very unfair .
Lady Lozza
I find it funny that EU and NA players are arguing about how unfair it is that the other one (NA or EU) gets better/rarer/more mini-pet promotions. Here in Australia I can get a number of the magazines concerned but can't enter the "competition" because I don't live in the area (and the rules say I have to) and even if they didn't, the mags aren't available until a minimum of 3 months after they go to the stands in the country of publication.
You argue about how unfair it is to you because you think others are getting more/more chances/better/rarer pets, and seem to completely forget there is a nice proportion of the GW population who won't be able to take part at all.

I'm not going to go into Asia because I"m not sure what is going on there at all. Please, a little bit of perspective from EU and NA players, at least you are being given a CHANCE, which is better than no chance at all.
