Okay, I like how we can have a statue of our animal companion in the Hall of Monuments, but my question is - why is that only certain pets (phoenix, black widow, black moa) are displayed as "singles", like the heroes, while the rest are just a big cluster labeled Animal Companion? I'm sure those special pets are labeled as what they are or even their name based on what the owner gave them. I think they should all be displayed like heroes. For me, I've got a white wolf and refuse to replace it. Wolves and me are tight, especially white ones. Not everyone wants a black moa (I think they're kinda ugly to be honest, though the baby mini pet is cute), not everyone can get a black widow from the Underworld, and maybe some people don't want to have to kill Shiro in Factions to get a phoenix. I think ANet should change this, just to make it fair to the others. I know a lot of people who have things like bears, eagles, lions, etc. And I know they want them to be displayed like the others.
Which this brings up another point - why is the black moa so special? You see them all over the Echovald Forest after you finish that one quest, and they're not particularly cute. Is it because it and those other two animals are the only ones that are level 20 when you first capture them? Still, all pets get to level 20 eventually...so I think they should change that.

Anet needs to make the "rare" pets core, since 2/3 are Factions-only atm. I can understand Anet not wanting to add a statue for EVERY pet possible, but they could have at least gone beyond 3.

The main thing is that the pet statue should have a NAME. My pet is called Cassiopeia, not "Black Widow Spider". Surely that shouldn't be so hard to fix.

Here is my question:
During the preview event I put in my Elder Wolf. I ditched him once I saw the awesomeness of the White Wolf. Now - I can't put him in. Can you only put one pet in EVER?
This is just so bizzare... pet part of this monument needs total reworkin, not just a fix. It would be great if someone like GAILE from ANet could clear up how the animal companion portion works.

aw come on not giving the pet a statue is so bland Sooba the mighty Stalker was with the Ranger from the the beginning they fought many brave battles fought many foes and evil do-ers and in the end when his pet passes into the eternal kitty fun playtime heaven she doesnt even get a statue for all those adventurous battle along mr.hero

Cannot follow that logic... I would love for Valor to show every weapon. Again, if it's a problem with unlocks, then by all means, limit the GW2 unlocks to very specific weapons (personally, I think more than just Destroyer, but whatever...)

Evilswit was also furious to discover he was once again a generic Black Moa. I had to grab his spiky collar to keep him from using that razor-sharp beak on his own statue and nearly pierced my hand in the process. The Guild Wars team developed all of these different monuments for a reason. They aren't "broken" unless you count the Valor monument which is being hot-fixed, and deldrimor armor not showing.

That could be very hard, since a pet doesn't have a fixed name (apart from the generic name). It can be changed at will. If they did add in a feature to show a pet's name as you've called it, then it'll probably change if you ever change the name of the pet (for instance, if you get another pet). It would take the name from whatever is stored in /petname, and there is only one field that can be stored in. So it wouldn't be as simple as you think. I think they should just allow us to put what we want and quit trying to force is to play the game a certain way... Let people play the way they want too.. As long as it doesn't hurt the game who cares? Just limit the number of items, so people don't get hog wild and try to memorialize every weapon in the game

They've got the mesh... Remove the animations, slap a stone/granite texture on them, and whala... I can display my wolfie. Sure it can take a while to do it to all of them; but not a backbreaking amount of work.

It's really quite annoying how my warrior has had her pet Bear, Fuzy Wuzy, for more than a year now, completed all 3 campaigns (no skipping either), yet all I get is a generic "Animal Companion" statue.
From what I can see, the current 3 pets that can be displayed are not that hard to "farm". I could easily go out on all of my characters and get a Black Moa, then add it to each of their HoM. It's a lot more work to get a level 5 Bear to level 20, especially on a warrior.
How to farm your pets:
Black Moa - simply go and charm it
Black Widow - pay for a charm run ~or~ use 3 ranger heroes to trap your way there
Phoenix - Barrage/Pet runs ~or~ do Secret Lair of the Snowmen runs with 3 SF heroes

I've had my tiger since day one, I can't imagine ever replacing him. I was quite sad to find that he didn't get his own statue in the HoM. I like him a lot more than any spider or phoenix or black moa, I feel that he has a lot more personality.

I agree with the sentiment of this thread. The HoM is there for OUR "nostalgia" or whatever you might call it, to showcase what we've done in the game.
Imagine a person starting a character in Prophecies. In one of his very first quests he charms a Melandru's Stalker. He does all the quests in the area. He keeps on doing all of Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall with that very pet. And then he can't display it, but some dude who just went up and said "hello" to a Black Moa can??!!

I'd also like to be able to display heroes pets, I got Spid years ago now (about 3 months after GW was released) I've spent a lot of time with him and I'd never get rid of him. But, I also like some of the new pets, so I got my heroes to cap them instead - But you can't display them

We call him "Searing Flamingo"... even though there isn't enough space for that to fit in the name-field. Maybe just "Searing Flam" would do... though it looks a bit odd.
In any case... she got Searing Flamingo after her last pet (Fat Git the Tiger) died... instead of bothering with a Black Widow.... and hasn't regretted it for an instant. There is nothing quite like spending a few hours death-levelling a flamingo to make it nice and Dire before taking it on a rampage of the continents...

We all love our pets and have a history with them, whether 2 years of them being by our side or a few days. Everyone has their story. This is a brief glimpse into the heart of Bacon Bits. He tried not to be sad when he heard he'd have no little warthog statue. He tried to be brave for my sake, I think, and therefore...he tried to become something he's not (bear/wolf/lynx) since that's what's on the 'generic' Animal Companion statue...

It's not easy to level a new pet up to 20 though...and it's even harder to predict or engineer the evolution of your pet as it levels up.
