Thank you GW Team
Missmelady
First off I believe Gw Team deserves a thank you. It has been a long time since I have enjoyed the beauty of Tyria. It was nice to come back. As stated in the many many other topics GW:EN is not a standalone campaign it is a expansion.
Def of expansion: Added content to a game that was not able to be added to normal game.
As an expansion GWEN is exactly what I expected.
1. Armors- People why are you crying about no new armors. First of all this is Tyria we are on NOT a new campaign.
2. Weapons- Again we are in Tyria NOT a new campaign
3. Story was too short- ITS A FREAKING EXPANSION NOT A STAND ALONE GAME. Hence forth it is supposed to be shorter because it is merely adding content.
4. Character slots- Everyone is very capable of spending say 10 dollars bringing total cost of GWEN to $50 to get an extra character slot. Plus why do you need another one there are no new classes.
5. Heros- I love em and so do many others. It allows me to play the game how I want it to be played. I dont have to group with people that are dumb either.
6. Grind- Needed to be added. If everyone was able to get the armors easily what would be the point. Everyone would be complaining that their was no challange. If people took half the time to farm rep. points then they did at flaming the game on guru they would have their armors all ready.
7. Grind/armors cont.- All i see are people complaining about the armors being reskins. Well if you dont like the armors why care about the grind?
8. Hom- Only thing in my opinon that needs some looking into.
9. Dungeons- Amazing addition to the game. Love it and looking forward to future content.
10. No new eleites- Lie there are new eleites granted they are pve only and do not count towards any titles but they are a blast with the personnal favorite of Ursan blessing.
Thank you and if anyone wants to farm Norn rep with me my Ign is Glyphofhealing

I agree..for the most part
This is leading up to GW2...its the last thing we have until it comes out. No new elites kinda sucked, I was looking forward to getting some new stuff but no biggie.
The best part though would be the graphical upgrade it seemed to have been given. The landscape and overall design is just beautiful, and it really shines through.
As for the grind, its not required to beat the game so people hae absolutly no right to moan and complain about it. You are not forced to grind, its if you want to do it, you have something to do. Im sick and tired of reading all of these peoples posts about "omg gwen is such a grind, i hate this game, way to ruin gw, omg its not supposed to be a grind mmorpg". Shut up, seriously.
As with all new games, especially massive online, there will always be spots to tweak and change. Be happy all of your accomplishments in gw1 is at least going to gw2, so it wasnt 3 years of wasted time. HoM is a good idea, just needs to be modified a little.
Kudos to them for what they have done. GW is an outstanding universe, and they are a trend setter in the world of mmorpg for being a non-grind game. Awesome, awesome, awesome.
Only downside though is the release and how extremely poorly planned it was. They should have allowed people to buy keys online a week before release to better stop problems. My gf had to wait a few extra days because it kept saying our credit card was stolen, uhm...no. Poor planning ruined the launch, something that could have been fixed easily. A lot of people were turned away and quit because of this...and that sucks since GW is a really great game. That was my only complaint, but not game related.
Anyways, thats my 2 cents. Some will agree, some will disagree, but everyone is entitled to their own opinions

I've refrained from adding to any of these posts before but i just want to add something to this regarding the setting. When i first stepped out intot he Ebon Vannguard area, its probably the first time i've gone "wow" since walking out into pre-searing all those years ago. is without doubt my favourite area in the game. even more so as it doesnt have annoying Assura all over the place calling me Booka are telling me they're busy

Thank you and if anyone wants to farm Norn rep with me my Ign is Glyphofhealing Why do people feel the need to be apologists for Anet. It's really sad.
1. When Anet touts "40 NEW ARMOR SETS!" for the game, then I expect, 40 actual new sets. Not 35 reskins and 5 kinda newish ones.
2. Grind. I love when pvers refer to grinding as "a challenge" It's not a challenge. It's just plain boring. What's so challenging about going outside and taking a blessing and watching your 3 SF eles blow shit up super fast? I was never /once/ challenged by grinding in any of these GW games. I have r5 asuran btw, just for the glasses.
3. Armor/Grind. There are a FEW pieces of armor, and I say pieces because let's face it, what are the most desired armor pieces right now? It's not whole sets of armor, it's chaos, destroyer, dragon gauntlets, ninja mask, asuran glasses. You can see people buying materials for those pieces everywhere. Go to longeye's ledge and you can see a good 5 people spamming WTB ALL YOUR CHARR CARVINGS!!! Go to Doomlore and you'll see more. That's where the grind is. Farming 250 goddamn charr carvings or 250 destroyer cores or 75 ecto or rank5 asuran just for that one blasted piece of armor.
4. I've never actually see anyone complain about weapons beyond in context with Hall of Monuments.
5. Who complains about heroes other than the fact that they seem to be retarded? For example, monsters quickly move out of aoe. My heroes seem to love to stand in it.
In short, you trumped up your list here of complaints. The only significant amount of complaining about GWEN was done about the poorly reskinned armors and the grinding, both of which are totally legitimate complaints. Anet shouldn't boast 40 new armor sets if more than half of them are shitty reskins. That's pretty deceptive marketing. And for a company that said grinding was something they were trying to keep their games away from, they sure failed here. More than half of this new game /is/ grinding. PvE skills? If you want them to be effective, better grind that title! Want consumables? Armor? Weapons? Better grind that title! Want those cool gloves or that cool headpiece? Better go grind 250 collectors items!
BTW: Dungeons, pretty... anticlimactic. I was totally expecting a different feel from previous GW games, what I got was more of the same, except.. worse drops. I just beat Frostmaw with a friend and heroes last night. Super duper easy, people complaining about difficulty = had really bad bad bad bad bad bars.

Well you've kinda hit the nail on the head there. IF you want the skill or the armor or the weapons or the consumable or the gloves you grind for it. If you dont want them you dont grind.
Its totally 100% optional.......

I wish people would read the thread title and then decide logically, rationally to not just spam the opposite attitude in the threads that say THANK YOU/GREAT/AWESOME, etc etc. lol (I know, its a pipe dream, but still . . ..)

Its totally 100% optional....... That was my point. If you don't grind, you can finish this game in like 10 hours. More than half the "content" (lol, grind is content now) is pure grind. You don't want to grind? You're going to get 33% of a real game.

Yeah, I agree. It is easy to find little things to complain about, but there is far, far, more good than bad in EoTN, just like the first three games.

the game is fine a little short but fine.
But why the grind al the sudden i started playing GW couse it was fun to play and no grind.

Let me get this straight. You think it is fine that the armor and weapons stink, the story was short, and there were no character slots, all because the game is an expansion? But purchasing one extra character slot for a total of $50 USD, the price of a full campaign, is okay for an expansion? Eh? As to your question, people who would like to create one of every profession, or have an extra slot for a PvP character would like one.

Grind did not need to be added, however, I don't disagree with all grind. Grind to get vanity items and titles is fine, but grind to increase the power of your skills is not fine. Time spent > player skill FTL. I love EotN but I think most of your points are crap. Just because you like something doesn't mean you have to blindly defend every aspect of it. DeathShadowX

Thank you and if anyone wants to farm Norn rep with me my Ign is Glyphofhealing Sounds so fanboi'd! My response: 1- By your logic because its Tyria the armors should just be reskins, but if your using that logic the re-skins should be from tyria only and im 100% sure i saw some factions armor reskinned, therefore this logic is retarded and they should have gave us new armor. 2- Weapons , same as above, and the new weapons, while some nice, other are just not worth their current price [destroyer] 3- Story was short... lack of new content?, Story= content, for those who are slow, dummies >_>.. 4- It's called wanting to play more classes then you currently can, and not everyone has the ability to pay online for xtra slots, thus ii would have paid $50 to get a new slot 5- heros were in before, and you can only use 3 at a time, so its not too much different than before, the only one who sounds dumb here is you.. 6- grind- self explanatory 7- Armors= content [which is barely even new] and whats the point of buying the expansion so widely advertised as brining new content. 8- agree with you for once 9- same maps, reskinned and darkened, with Over power'd boss at end, woo. 10- PvP is a fun part of GW and shouldn't be neglected, even in a PVE expansion they could have given some new regular elites, its not as if they aren't usable in PvE. +...Those new PvE skills don't seem too thrilling to me. kaheiyeh
The budget and time for GW:EN was obviously not as much as the campaigns (Mainly because it's an expansion). With this in mind, that's mainly the reason why most of the armors/weapons are just reskins; new weapons/armors would require a new model and skin to be made meaning more time/resources. The time they spent on the scenery of the new areas though, is remarkable.
Keeping in mind that this expansion sold for half the price of a normal expansion here, i'm nothing but satisfied with what I got. Great job Anet! A11Eur0

How much does Nightfall cost? $50, and that gives us 2 new character slots on an existing account, lots of new armor, new playable professions, and a huge storyline. 5: Also with you here. Love the new heroes. But nightfall has more than double the number. 6: GW was supposed to be a minimal-grind game. Noone is saying eliminate the grind. People are saying allow players to access the crafters at lower levels corresponding to completing the storyline and all of the primary quests. I.E. level 3...not level 5 which requires hours of grind after completing every dungeon, quest, storyline, etc for max points. 7: This is doublespeak. You say why worry about either because they're interconnected. Don't bitch because you won't like it anyway. Well, there are people complaining about the armors but not the grind, and visa versa. Oh, and HoM has slots for these new armors, so people who like completing everything they can are getting double hosed. Why have a second set of armor that looks like what they already have? I'd be pissed if I had ranger obsidian that looked exactly like one of the EOTN armors (vanguard?) that costs a tenth of what obsidian cost. Kills the prestige of the Obsidian...alot. 8: Needs more than "some" looking into. Everything needs to be changed. 9: Agreed 10: These elites cannot be used with any other skillsets or in PvP. May as well just fill up the bar with other signets and just have at it. Nutshell: if Anet released an expansion with minimal new content, it should have a cost on par with the material gained. Half the new material or thereabouts as a new campaign: $25 max price. Not $40, which is what I paid for Factions after NF was released. We were hosed. Everything but the heroes and environment was rehashed. It's a good expansion, but it costs as much as a whole campaign. Mai

Keeping in mind that this expansion sold for half the price of a normal expansion here, i'm nothing but satisfied with what I got. Great job Anet! If the budget and time for GW:EN was obviously not as much as the other campaigns, then the main question still exists for many unhappy players...Why charge $40 for a half ass product? Me too. I love it, it's like a really big pre-sear.

I pretty much love EotN except for 2 things:
RESKINS. That just hit me where it hurts.. HARD. (and then stomped on me with Faction requirements) CUT & PASTE DUNGEONS. I mean.. Dungeons where the big selling point. Half the places are literally cut&paste sections. I dunno, I guess I is an XP. But I'm not sure if the % we payed for compared to the campaigns is equal to the % of content compared to the campaigns. My only beef is that I'm kinda sad that dervvies and paragons are gonna be left with a smallish pool of skills compared to even the sin/rit; Seems kinda unfair to me.

I agree with you Kasale, that's what I was thinking when I saw the other posts. There are already appropriate threads where one can debate/petition their dislikes/concerns about GW:EN. This one is about saying, "Thank you".
Thank you GW Team for making GW:EN so beautiful and enjoyable for me. Something I like are the little books like Zho's Journal, Hero's Handbook, and Master Dungeon Guide. I'm especially happy that I got to keep Zho's Journal after creating my mini black moa, I find it an interesting read. I hope to see more of these books in the future and it would be nice to be able to keep them all somewhere, like a bookshelf in the HoM or something, maybe as something else to collect. I just like interesting things like that, I suppose. Oh, and I love the little rabbit, I wish I could charm it and make a bunny cape. :P genofreek

2. Weapons- Again we are in Tyria NOT a new campaign 3. 1. They have introduced new races -- Norn and Asura -- and given more depth to the Dwarves. Why is an obscure, solitary people high in the far reaches of the Shiverpeaks offering us armor we saw in Cantha? I'd like to see armor that shows a bit of quality work in it instead of mixes and reskins that don't quite look right. Uniqueness would be nice, but apparently that's beyond Anet at this point. And the fact that Warriors get an extra set is complete crap. 2. I haven't heard too many bitchings about weapons except for the pathetic loot drop issue. I like the new stuff and don't mind the old. 3. It has about half the content and takes about half the time to complete that a standalone campaign does, yet we paid well over half the price of a full campaign for it. 4. Don't care about this issue. They'd be nice, but I already have extra slots so I can play every class and qualify for the mission pack. 5. Except for the AI, which suddenly went to hell and needs a fix like wammos need a clue, who's complaining about the new heroes? Well, there IS the issue where their armor's unique, amazing, and they get like three sets of it as opposed to our four reskins per class BUT ANYWAY. 6. This isn't a concern to me, although obviously people disagree. This is one issue you can actually DO something about by shutting up and playing. Getting rep points is easy enough if you don't break your head over it and try to reach the max level within a day. Take the time you spend griping about that to do dungeons and take quests. 7. I'm going for titles for my own personal completist satisfaction. I have little interest in any of the armor. That was supposed to be the sweet deal at the end, but I'm not even going to bother. Personal preference. 8. No argument here. 9. Who's whining about the dungeons? Sure, they're difficult, but that's why you tweak your/the heroes' builds and try new things. The layout copypasta is a bit pathetic in places and the prize at the end could stand to suck less, but it's still a good way to get rep points. 10. Haven't heard anyone whine about the elites, although I believe someone out there managed to do it. It's a shame if there aren't more beyond the race-specific ones like Ursan Blessing, but I doubt anyone bought GW:EN specifically for the skills. Hyper.nl
I agree with every point of the topic starter. In short: I love GW:EN, it's great to be back into Tyria with all the added content.
I played through the storyline and now I'm going to do all the extra quests, get some titles, heroes, weapons and armor. I still hope on more improvements to the HoM tho. mlandry
I love the new armor/weapon skins. Even if people are complaining they are reskins they are well made.
No reason to complain about this expansion except if you want to be a whiny little b.... See that new WoW Expansion? Lvl70+ content only. You think everyone has access to it? No, it's an expansion. It adds content for people who are really in the game and are at the end with nothing else to go. Same thing here. And GW doesn't even require you to play a lot to enjoy that content, contrary to any other MMORPG. And as far as I recall, ANet gave up their "no grind" policy with Factions to allow the game to have optional grinding for PvE players wanting titles. This grind is still optional. If you want, they can just remove all titles, leaving you to do... oh wait, there was nothing to do before they added titles. If you want a game with 0 Grind, go buy a console RPG... this is an online game and the ONLY way to keep people interested is to add grinding. Hell, even console RPGs have grinding when you want the best stuff. GW has kept me interested since day 1... can't say I've played any console RPG that long (or even remotely close). Maybe the whiners want GW to actually REQUIRE grinding to be good? Add uber weapons/armor that require 100k+100 ecto each have way higher damage/defense. That's what every single other game (Console or MMORPG) does. Nothing has changed since release except additions... you can still play missions and do quests. You can still explore large areas... I apoligize but I have seen absolutely no good points from the whiners EXCEPT maybe that the game gets repetitive (which game doesn't after 2+ years) and that there are large quantities of reskins (which I happen to love) So yeah, go GW Team; can't wait for GW2 Leonhart
If you really wanna thank them, buy 10 more copies of the entire GW series! Boost their sales to boost their salary! lol

imo, I think it's nice that they made HoM for GW2 unllocks.

No, they had nothing planned when they were finishing up EotN. Very, very unlikely we won't get anything more for GW before GW2, as they still need to keep people interested in the game.

Yeah, I heard there's ganna be a big PvP update soon.

I ALONE 1000% AGREED WITH YOU MISSMELADY! Original Guild wars Players was not a cry baby we appreciated GW on everything the staff have made to make the game more fun for us to play. Now that so many are playing GW so many people are crying about this and that! I want this change! I want this easier to be access! OMFG!...
Cry babies here’s the fact: YOU DO NOT LIKE THE WAY ANET STAFF DESIGN THE GAME THEN DON’T PLAY THE GAME. Anet did not point a gun to you to buy the game. Fact: You heard that Guild wars were a rising RPG game and it’s free and had so many compliment and rewards on how Guild wars were design. You decided on your on to buy the game and you love it. Fact: Stop complaining before Anet decides to charges you all with monthly payment due to your annoying complain about this and that. I personally have no problem with it due to the fact that I love this game and willing to pay to play. Fact: then you really have to ask you mother to pay for the monthly fee. Fact: So be thankful for hard work that Anet staff put in to it to design the game. Ado
We can thank the government if they do nice things for us, not a company whose sole purpose is to sell and make profit (in this case Anet).
Therefor it's in the interest of any company to deliver qualityproducts. Generally, bad games don't sell. Anet should thank us for buying the game, not the other way around. On-topic. I'm quite satisfied with the expansion mainly because it brings back nostalgic memories. But I do share the critical notes mentioned by others. The game is supposed to keep us busy for about 18 months, I really doubt if that's possible with GW:EN. But I worry most about the PvP-aspect. Many hardcoreplayers have left the game cause of the poor shape PvP is currently in (especially HA). I enjoyed PvP above all things untill the release of NF. The way PvP has developed makes me doubt wheter or not to buy GW2, cause I fear (and probably many others who primairely play PvP) GW2 will develope the same way. [riVen]

Or, you could look at it from the opposite direction. The grind content is extra content, for those that do enjoy grinding--or at least, don't mind it. Matter of opinion I guess. Fact is, to enjoy the storyline part of the game, absolutely no grind is necessary.
Also, the argument that you need to grind for the PvE skills to be effective is complete bull. By playing through the game normally, you'll achieve at least rank 3 in every of the 4 title tracks, which is plenty to make all PvE skills effective enough to place on your bar. -Loki-
The PvE is rather more satisfying than any of the actual campaigns. The environments are stunning (something Guild Wars has always been on top of - it has the best looking environments ever to fight in) and nicely varied, though I wish they could come up with a better name for the Charr Homelands than... Charr Homelands. The new weapons are, for the most part, really nice. The PvE skills are interesting, and Siege Devourers are more fun than worms ever were. The characters are much better (Vekk and Pyre Feirceshot are incredibly good characters, though Gwen herself leaves much to be desired, and 'Snoo Snoo' Jora is a much better Warrior character than Samuel L jackson wannabe Koss).
Graphically, it's a huge improvement over anything they did in the campaigns. The new waterfalls are very well done, as well as reflective, moving water, and fire that actually looks like fire (in fact, it's the first game I've played where fire looks right). It's a huge improvement over Prophecies dull, long campaign, Factions quick and nasty campaign and Nightfalls long and tedious campaign, though it's extremely short. But, I prefer short campaigns that get right into the story right away, rather than stories where 50% of them are completely filler and unneeded (hello Prophecies and nightfall). Aside from the complete and utter lack of anything PvP, a very worthwhile expansion. [riVen]

Off-topic: Aren't governments there to take care of their people, essentially? Just because a company's sole purpose is to make profit, doesn't mean we can't be thankful if they create something for us (to buy) that we have a good time with. Basically, it makes more sense to be thankful when someone does something they are not required or expected to do, than when someone's doing their job. Either way, being thankful never hurts.

/agree yeah,if your buying somthing in a shop,at the counter, do you say thanks? -same here ON Topic: yeah i loved the char areas, i jsut rocked really happy i left it till last as the asura area annoy'd me, also the quest layout made it repetive, imo, as in go here, partial dungeon, here, partial dungeo, meet up, Ado
lemme refrase.
Anet should be thankfull we buy their games, we should be thankfull they give us nice entertainment. Guys, don't put a slack of salt on every word. I think you know what I meant in my post, I don't need to explain marketing right? Gattocheese

Thank you and if anyone wants to farm Norn rep with me my Ign is Glyphofhealing First off you cant say this Thread and your post is not up for debate or response, because you opened the can when you said we cry. Critisim and pointing out what people are dissappointed in helps Anet, so they may better produce a future product we all might like. 1. Armors-This is Tyria? So the reskinned Canthan and NF armors make perfects sense! Oh dont mention the new races never seen before, because they all wear the same outfit anyway. Yeah, the never heard of azura sure love to make canthan armor. Glad i wasnt expecting 40 new armor sets. Glad Anet said endgame content for your lvl 20's and saying endgame armor. I am sure glad i didnt think they were going to be leet. 2. Weapons-Omg is that a green "end game" brute sword! I am soooo lucky. Wait? you mean everyone can get Dwarven Axes? Wow thats awesome, Glad theres no rare items anymore. 3. Story was too short-(non sarcastic) i agree that i wouldnt be getting alot more story or depth for an expansion. 4. Character Slot-(non sarcastic) yes i wouldnt expect a character slot. Just something everyone could possible use, and would be a nice treat Anet could of gave us. 5. Heros-(non sarcastic) No complain her, actually the best of them so far, only gripe is that they are walking around looking more leet than me. 6. Grind-(non sarcastic) I think grinding for consumables or armor is actually a great idea. The consumables are awesome, too bad the armor blows. 7. Grind/armor cont- read above ^ no gripe here, i will grind with my character for consumables. 8. HoM-I am not a title grinder, people need to understand about customizing your mini's, is that you can wait till GW2 comes out before you customise them, whats the hurry? 9. Dungeons-I like em, need a lil more variety as far as view, they all look like the deep. Reward chests for doing them suck. Do a 2 hour dungeon and get one diamond, yuck. 10. No Elites-I think its hard to figure out new skills at this time, with so many out now. I do think they could of used something to improve Air or Water magic ele's, they get no aoe, and need more variety. Basically what i was wanting out of GWEN was alot of end game content, new original armors, new original weapons, new monsters, ect.. I expected the story to be short. What they did is get my expectations high, and shoot them down with no end game content, no new armors, half new weapons, some new monsters, no way to improve my lvl 20 character..ect.. But i think the heros are awesome, there 3 sets of armor rocks. The scenary is really nice outside, the best in any part of GW now. So i do thank them for there scenary art department, but you cant say that the warrior monument armor matches from torso to leggings, just shows a tad lazyness or carelessness. I still would of bought Gwen (maybe at a lower price eventually) if they told me the armors, monsters, ect were reskins and that after you conquer and beat the game theres no real content. That way i wouldnt feel lied to or my expectations wouldnt be so high. Zorgy
I thank again Anet devs for the good job they did, are doing & will do....
Did you read jeff Strain's interview? http://www.guildwars.com/events/trad...7/gcspeech.php "...Finally, you can make everyone happy, but you can't make everyone happy all the time. It is risky to try to make decisions that appeal to all players equally. Don't fall into the trap of making decisions based on what causes the least amount of pain, because this can lead to a game that is just kind of "okay" and doesn't really excite anybody. When you have a large, active, and passionate player base, every decision you make, every change to the game, no matter how convinced you are that it makes the game strictly better, will piss someone off, and they'll post about it, blog about it, rant to the press about it, loudly and publicly predict that this is the "beginning of the end" of your game, and send hate mail to your community and support teams. MMO developers have to have thick skins, but always remember that if one of your players is angry with you, it is because he really cares about the game, and that's much healthier for you than apathy. Go with your instincts and make the right decision for your game..." "..Pay close attention to complexity creep. Most of your players will never read your website, never visit fansites, and never participate in forum discussions. We are often immersed in the community forums and rants and raves posted to game fansites, and it is easy to lose perspective about the knowledge level of most of our players. Players who participate in fansites and send six-page emails to your community team are experts at your game – they probably know more about it than you do – so it's important to realize that they do not represent the average player. The vast majority of your players are not digging into every detail of every spell or creating lists of animations so that they can react when they see the basilisk twitch its nose. They want to play, not study, so take care to create a game that allows them to do so..." "...Developing a new MMO requires a lot of money and a lot of time. If you are starting today and don't have at least three years and $30 million dollars, consider developing in another genre. Also be prepared to attract and manage a large development team. We have 140 full-time developers working on Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2 at ArenaNet, and that number will probably have to grow throughout the Guild Wars 2 development cycle. It is much easier and less risky to make exciting, innovative games in other genres. Unfortunately, some of us just can't make that decision – we're intoxicated by the thought of building the ultimate MMO, and we feel compelled to dedicate our lives to that pursuit. If that describes you, then by all means jump in and let's keep pushing the boundaries of possibility together. But bring cash – lot's of it – and make sure that you are working with people on the business side who are willing to let you make the best game you can make, because there are no successful B-titles in the MMO industry.
