Actually, the discrepancy between what GW:EN promised and what it actually delivered taught me to wait and see how GW2 actually turns out. If I buy GW2, it'll be well after release.

GW:EN is the best thing to happen to GW since Prophecies. It's NOT just a bunch of the same-old, same-old.

1. For the most part, the areas I've been in are nothing short of spectacular! That forest fire? Wow! They did that up incredibly well. The transition coming down out of the Shiverpeaks into the Charr homelands was nicely done. There've been all kinds of little pockets of "ooh, check that out" stuff throughout the game. I'm very happy the art department concentrated more on this aspect of the game.

2. The character developement of the NPC's is better than any of the previous offerings. I don't know if I should be surprised that people are whining about Gwen's attitude for being mis-treated by the Charr when they act the same way about armor re-skins. (I find it very ironic)

3. The BIGGEST thing that gets my "Thumbs up" is the introduction of FUN into the game. Follow that little rabbit! Watch out for those big rocks! last night, we were going through a dungeon with a bunch of powder keg stations, at one, we pulled a bunch of Charr to it and just blasted them to bits - it was hilarious! I'm also finding that my little Mesmer, in her sexy little outfit, does really in the boxing arena. Can't wait to finish exploring GW:EN lands to see what other little tircks they've got up their sleeves.

4. Dual-profession enemies make for interesting times!

5. There are challenges that actually make you THINK a bit before proceeding. The "Heart of the Shiverpeaks" quest is a good example. No amount of SF nuking is going to get you through that without any tactics involved.

(I'll save any negative comments that I may have for the appropriate threads)

No grinding in GW? I had to grind my first 2k for my original guild cape when i began. I hit Post, and had to grind my 100k for that expensive Wizard's Isle. Then I had a minor grind for Glad's Armor for my warrior.

Then, the hall upgrades came out, and guess what I did? Grind for the money to pimp my hall. I stay on the grind, and I love every...single...minute I do it. If I didn't love playing my game, it would be work and not fun. Why complain about doing what you would be doing anyway?
