Devona WTF????
gloria vander belt
me and a few others i know have noticed devona is running out of aggro(even wen not fighting) and lure'ing mob's back wich has been getting rather annoying expecially when fighting a group of 6-8 already, it dont bother me so much on th 3-5 group's, but im not shore this is suppose to happen, and also the big chicken henchie(talon silverwing i think) does it on occassions but not as often, has any 1 else experienced this??????
plasmasword
Yes, I was fighting a group of mobs in a dungeon and Gwen kept running off and pulling a group of boss mobs no matter how many times I pinged another mob. She died like 4 times in a row.
Stolen Souls
Pretty much all the heros/hench do this (I'm looking at YOU, Zhed >.< ). But yes, Talon and Devona seem especially noobish lately.
Kaida the Heartless
Definitally. Ogden, my monk, decided to pull this in Shards of Orr just the other day. The baddies weren't even in radar range!
bungusmaximus
Devona is Leeroy Jenkins' twin sister, try using the flags if they run off, they usually snap out of it. I found myself using flags quite a lot, especially for retreating and/or regrouping.
gloria vander belt
yeah hmm seems a-net has a clean up job to do
Lalita
Yeah the crazy heffer does this to me all the time. She wades out past the group we are agro'd on and goes to an entirely different area to pull a second group. I think she has confidence issues being next to Jora.
AlienFromBeyond
Yeah, seems to me the scatter AI has been especially wonky as of late. Not too fun when your SF eles run around in circles instead of staying still in the wards and nuking.
Dr Strangelove
My melee heroes have been completely broken lately. Melonni has apparently taken severe head trauma lately, she prefers to stare at walls or pace back and forth instead of actually attacking things.
Steboy93
Yeah this happens all the time when i use talon or devona, once even when i specifically flagged them in the other direction!!

This behaviour isn't new btw, in other campaigns Devona is an intolerable ass-hat too.
Edge Martinez
Just Leeroy it like I do with Livia, MoW, and Olias all as MM's. If someone's gonna pull in extra mobs, might as well be a member of the minion army.
WinterSnowblind
Yup, I had this same problem in Nightfall, when trying to do the Dajkah Inlet challenge mission, there's one point especially where she loves to run up the stairs, past all the other mobs and attack the Guild Lord at the back. Took me a while to fugure out why she was dead and no one would resurrect her.
M1h4iL
Lol chicken henchie, good one.

Devona... Leeeeroy idiocy from her and Talon and Jora on occasion I can handle by setting their targets and flagging them, and they are warriors after all...
but Gwen...
Gwen Leeroys off past the mob we fighting, pulls in more (dies, is rezzed)...
Me: Get back in line you stupid woman!!!! *flag
Gwen leeroys off into the furthest backline of the mob (dies, is rezzed)
Me: GWEN, FFS, you are a MESMER, you're BACKLINE - NOW GET BACK INTO IT YOU RAGING NOOB!!
Gwen ignores flag and target and runs off to die - again...
The hero/hench AI should definitely be overhauled... I've broken most of them down to peeling potatoes back at base for their idiocy!!
Footnote:
(by the way, I am a woman, so I can call another woman an idiot and get away with it )

All the heroes/henchies are doing this crazy stuff at the moment. It's so annoying. They didn't do this pre-EON so something must have been changed in the AI when GWEN got released.
I hope Anet fix this soon. I remember last time the H/H went all wacko, Anet went into denial about there being anything wrong with them and it took ages for them to actually get fixed.

I hope they fix it soon. It's gamebreaking for the solo H/Her... and I was doing so well too.

Wasn't there some fluff that Gwen wanted to be a Warrior when she grows up? Its like football(soccer) goalkeepers who started their careers as strikers. Brrrrrr.
As for Devona and Big Bird, here's how I figure it happens. They start by trying to run out of some AoE or somesuch. They shout "Charge!" and run much further than they expected. Their goldfish memory kicks in, and they go, ooooo new mobs!

thats a pretty good theory except they don't use "Charge!" as their elite skill in eotn.
when i was doing gwens quests she was kinda running off dieing but then again it was against the charr so it was probably just blind rage

Me and a guildie was doing a factions mission last night, and Zhed ran off! He even went out of range (name gone gray) then came back about 2mins later with loads running after him

Human players do the same and actually try to argue back that they know what they're doing. At least hench are SILENT idiots.

QFT.
At least they don't go AFK or just quit without notice.
At least when they are flagged while I pull they stay there till the pulled mob/monster gets into agro.
AND I can call them all the names in the book!! Without dealing with the injured pride, sulks, downright arrogance and rage-quitting (I know what I'm doing, you #$^%, /ragequit) when I comment on or correct a bad move.
And I can also play without some idiot making up to my char!!!! -.-

The heroes generally get into Leeroy mode if:
1. You CTRL+Click a target and then decide to just attack another without calling it; The heroes will run to the called target if that's in the vicinity. However, if you call another target immediately thereby cancelling the previous call the heroes will follow the lastest call.
2. If you are trying to pull and don't want heroes to attack, flag heroes away from your agro bubble where you decide to pull and settle. Once you have agro get the heroes unleash their fury. If you notice that heroes are running off to attack the mob you are trying to pull, then, you are flagging the heroes too close or the mob is in the vicinity. So, just fall back and choose to pull further back.
Always remember the flag is not a point but a zone. If the heroes are attacking something a little off the flagged position and sometimes even further off the flag position, its simply because it found the monster in the zone.
Hope this helps. And heroes play much better than many human players as they are programmed to do so.

Apparently not anymore.

Devona is a lot worse than Talon. She just completely flips sometimes and runs off. I don't even take her anymore and she was my favorite henchie.
Losttoapathy
"Chicken Henchie", "Big Bird"...oh poor Talon is taking some beating. Although slightly belated, I'm only after reading this and finding it somewhat difficult to restrain my laughter. Onto my main point...
I had this problem before GW:EN was released...clearly this has escalated since then. (I don't know, my computer has been broken for a month. -Tear.- ) Anyway, hopefully all will be well by the time I'm back online. In the meantime I'll try not to laugh in public libraries as much. Big_Iron
Let's not forget about Vekk trying to tank. He's the first one to run into a mob when I bring him...so I don't anymore. I think he's trying to overcompensate for something.

It's gotten much worse since GW:EN. I actually loved H/H AI before. I went back to Tyria and Cantha to get my Protector titles with them and breezed through. Right now, I'd be afraid to take them for a walk in the park. Losttoapathy
You know, I've actually bought the game full well knowing I don't have a computer to play it on. From what I've read it sounds like a hard mode outwith hard mode. Anyway, I'll give the game a try before I knock it. -Silent anticipation.- ^^
pamelf
Devona's always done that in my experience. She's dreadful at aggro.
Targren
I found a strange consistancy in the inconsistant behavior...
Apparently Koss and Stephan (Hero and Henchie) will both ignore monsters already engaged against the party to run out of combat and hunt down the nearest monk-class monster?! I think somebody tweaked priorities a little bit too high. Frigus X

- Leave the game at random moments - Call each other n00b - Have a big ego (ok, there might be some exceptions ) - Afraid to team up with sins/rits/etc - Complain when giving them a build not listed on any Wiki - Ping the mini-map/radar like someone on speed - Draw pictures on the minimap like genitals or little bunnies etc quickmonty
Stopped using Devona a long time ago because of her Leroy mentality. Just yesterday I saw most of my H/H team going nuts in one dungeon. Zho (interupt hench) was acting like a touch ranger, Mhenlo was playing Leroy, Talon was running in and out of battle (big bird is really a chicken?) and sometimes they would not attack the called target. Got so frustrated I had to log out and watch television (ugh) for a while.
yukimura_gw
Koss did the same thing to me. >_<
He went on a WAMMO aggroing spree, aggroing a lot of Charrs on hard mode. -_- |
