I always thought they are related to some kind of portals or traveling.

It would be nice that they were 'point to teleport to' in GW2. Like in the end of Ruins of Surmia.

Last room in the Kathandrax dungeon, with the Ilsundur boss at the back (we can't see his fire balls rolling around ).

Yup, however, this is after I killed that fire bomb throwing annoyance . The fireballs disappear after he dies I think. But he would be behind the thing if I didn't kill him.

That looks more like somewhere in the Mists for me.

That landscape reminds me of FoW, but dunno about the giant head.

I guess I haven't been there - I don't recognize the giant head.

This looks like the Desolation but I haven't see anything like it before. The small bridge on the left reminds me of somewhere in the Shattered Ravine, may be?

The sky somehow does not fit Hell's Precipice.

There is no 'black cinder' dropping like in there.

i think i see the rdge of a volcano on the left side, which means it can only be one place....

Azazel's looks to me like that non-burning lava area south of the forge in FoW.
