New Mini Pet?
Roshi_ikkyu
Alot of the issues expressed by Aussie and Nzers are directly Anets and NCsofts fault
Lonesamurai, keep listening to Anets and there propganda. Its always been mentioned that Anet doesn't consider running any comp or special for Australia /Nz, Because there game doesn't have the huge numbers like other regions.
And I assume your not aware that for several comps Australia and New Zealand are not recognised territories of Europe or North America. Hell we can't even be classed as Asian, Which means we are prevented from entering any of the comp run by Anet, including Sweepstakes and several others.
Now thats Anet saying "lol you guys don't have enough numbers to even make us care!"
And Lonesami and blue.rellik, (blue.rellik you were acting like a prick)
Anet NCsoft only lets one Australian and New Zealand games company distribute there product, EB games. Which means we have to pay what the decide to charge. Anet could help the problem by making the games a general items, sold in a varity of places. But thats not likely to happen
As for the Delays, for factions release Anet over looked, forgot or just plain decided to release the games from there European storage house late for Australian/New Zealand release. They directly admit its was there shipping fault. For the Gwen release it was an EB games side, I created a thread to defend Anet in that case. For the collectors of Nightfall there was yet again a delay, I'm unsure as to whos fault that was.
Then how about the ingame store, where we get @#$%ed over in exchange rate because we can't decide which currency to pay in. And in the End you buy a access key for around $10-$20 more then what the game costs.
More importantly not only are you flaming other forum posters for there personal views and comments but your promoting a bigoted attitude towards an entire country. Does it really impact your life is an Aussie is unhappy with the service rendered by a game?... No but then posting prejudices against them on a basis of ethnic group or there nation is no better then racism.

Oh yeah, and no, i rarely believe what comes from a developer when I'm looking for clarification on shipping, etc issues, when those issues are dealt with by the publisher (NCSoft) and distributor (EB Games Aus) when there is an issue

There was a page I saw a while ago with upcoming dates for magazines with mini pets.
Silly me didnt bookmark it, so if anyone knows where it is, please post a link.
I remember that the UK gets two exclusive mini-pets, same as the US, and a few other european countries get one or two as well. All the exclusive mini's differ between countries, so there will be a heck of a lot of trading going on soon XD

The whole of the Southern Hemisphere is purely "Thar be Dragons" territory as far as they are concerned. Here in South Africa we have exactly the same issues as our Southern counterparts in Australia and New Zealand.
We are used to sucking hind *** when it comes to issues such as the magazine offers etc. I have now got a friend in the UK that gets me things such as the minis on offer there, and I just need to find myself a US friend to do the same lol.
But their attitude about the Southern Hemisphere countries became glaringly clear last year:
We in South Africa suffer under a monopolistic Telecoms Agency which means we have routing issues that make your eyes water! No-one here can participate in any form of PvP effectively as the lag we experience country-wide makes even Ab a messy affair. I have no luck with the new PvP style mini-games in GWEN - Norn Arenas and Polymock are a joke with our lag.
My brother (in the IT and Telecoms industry) and his company investigated the possibility of providing Southern Hemisphere servers to cover the Aus, NZ and SA players, so that we could actually experience play with lag of less than 400ms (on a good day!!). They contacted Anet, who passed him on to NCsoft: who responded that there were not enough box sales in our Southern territories to warrant any effort on their part in helping to set up southern servers.
Not enough box sales means exactly what Roshi said...
immortius
Well, we did get the Gray Giant (via the 2-months-delayed PC Gamer mag) and the Asura (via PC PowerPlay), so we haven't been entirely bereft of mini-pet offers in Australia.

I believe PC Gamer approached the GW team about this promotion. How is it anet's fault that a magazine distributor who they did not choose will not sell their magazine in your country?

Best thing Anet has done for us was to un-restrict server moves. Hopefully we can all get some love.

Really makes you doubt the quality of character of the kind of person who can dis-like America for the same faults found in his/her own country.

Cool pet! No doubt there will be idiots out there thinking they are worth retarded prices like pandas and yetis and even bigger idiots paying huge prices for them. Personally I think they are tweaked in the head but each to their own. I like many hundreds of thousands of other players just laugh at such people. They give the word noob a whole new meaning because what do mini pets do? nothing! I sooner spend money on armors or weapons instead of a useless little things that runs around and maybe makes a sound (if your lucky). But people do anything to make a fast buck and make their e-peens as large as possible.

THing I'm wondering is if the Mini giveaway will be one code per account, because the UK get two mags...Dont' wanna waste money on 2 to find I can't use it.

Offers internation magazines for sale. I am not sure if the PC Gamer is the US or UK one. But I am sure there are sites which have the US one for UK people.
Edit:
If people are going to be paying through Paypal for people to send them issues. I recommend setting up an Ebay auction. As it will offer some security if anything were to go wrong. More safer than just sending payment / magazines. I do that when buying stuff off of forums.

Remember, it's a special GW edition not the normal one.
Or if you dicide to order PC Zone or PC Gamer from UK or EU sometime toward the end of this month or next month. you can enter the competition for the 1000 mini pets give away. Remeber it's a lottery, you might get a good mini or you might not get anything.
Do not get the US and EU mini mix up.
Roo Ella
Thank you Etta I understand now.

can anyone tell me if the issues are in store now or did just come in the mail?

There are in stores now I got my copy at lunchtime. I'm in Montreal Canada. It's a special PCGamer Guild Wars Edition not the regular monthly subscription.
It's a combination Collector's Edition art book, lots of Lore a mini GWEN walkthrough of the primary quest, Destroyer mini-pet with some GW Lore and GW2 info.
I got it for 12.99$ CDN

So now that the European players are getting a shot at the "rare Asian miniature" set, when will the US get a chance?
The Destroyer is quite cool, but I would really like to add a Vizu to my collection, without having to trade somebody 100k+50e for one. It's depressing enough I'll have to do that just to acquire a Gwen at some point.

I bought it at Archambault near les Galeries d'Anjou. There were about 4-5 of them on the shelf.
Lil Mystique
I thought Gaile said it wouldn't be on the shelves until Sept. 25th. I'm in America and have been calling around but no one seems to have it in yet. Has anyone in America gotten it yet? And, if so, from where?

Fun Fact:
For those getting PCZone, you've got roughly a 1:27 chance of a Pet Card.
For those getting PC Gamer UK, you've got roughly a 1:43 chance of a Pet Card
(Reasoning - each magazine gets 1,000 cards, divide by circulation...)

For those who are unhappy about this offer, please keep in mind that marketing and sales are very region-specific. What is offered in one country may not even be legal to offer in another, and the teams involved in sales and marketing do their best to suit the needs of each region. In cases like the European miniature giveaway, they assess the markets and work with individual publications in each country to attempt to work out an arrangement that is mutually beneficial to the publication and the publisher. In the US, we (ArenaNet) and sometimes NCsoft work directly with US publications. Believe me that no one says "Let's not offer the promotion in (this country)" or "We don't care about players in (that location)." We'd love the broadest coverage possible, while working with realistic business goals. In order for promotions to work well, they need to be carefully planned. From what I can see, areas of planning involve an assessment of the value of the promotion, considering such things as region, magazine subscription numbers, readership, publication dates, and so forth. (For example, an extreme example would be if we were offered the chance for a magazine spread in a country or region in which Guild Wars wasn't distributed. That would not be of much value to us, right?) NCsoft and ArenaNet look forward to working with more publications in many other countries, I'm sure. But we cannot drive this alone; the magazines also are in a position to make the decision. We do the very best that we can, on all levels, but ultimately we cannot hand deliver you a miniature key, and we will not devalue the promotional aspects of the offer by just randomly giving every player everything that we offer. We are a business, after all, and I hope that you will trust us to do our level best always to conduct our business in as professional and exemplary a manner as possible. |

Nice to see the US getting the better looking mini yet again. :/
I don't even bother to buy this. I have mini's which I like, and I do not like any of those bar the destroyer.
