What keeps you playing Guild Wars?
Rocky Raccoon
I have been playing for over 2 years and still enjoy the game. I asked myself, why? #1. The friends I have made playing the game, most of whom are in my guild. #2. The many options GW gives for replay ability (different professions to learn, AB, farming, etc.) #3. The ability to immerse myself in a world separate from the day to day grind of real life and get away from it all.

When new stuff comes along.
Friends I want to talk to, although usually I just log on and stand around and don't actually play.

Torqual
I just like my characters.
bhavv
Title Grind ATM. I dont care much about other players.
Big_Iron
Right now, nothing. I recently hit a wall with GW and have lost my desire to play. I still log on every day, sit there and stare at the screen for a minute or two and log off.
This is not a rant and I’m not dissing Anet or GW. I’ve been playing GW almost exclusively for over two years. I think I’m just burned out and need a break.

Friends is and Titles but i have seem to hit a wall as well with me playing for 16 months and still beleaving i will find some worth more that 5k. the Drops are turning me off of Guild Wars and i fear that if they dont pick up soon im just done with PvE for A little while.

It's the only game where me and my partner can play together, well apart from those games on Wii. My pc and her are next to each other at home, so no need for TS as well.
Oh, plus it's a very fun game.

I think it's because of my current PC performance. The game has plenty of replay value, but many other online games do to begin with. In the end, it has to do which online game of mine performs best, and how big or active the community is.
Originally, I played StarCraft a lot. Then came WarCraft III. Then Counter Strike Source. Now Guild Wars. I'm sure I'll end up playing another great game if I ever manage to afford a better PC. (Probably Guild Wars 2?)

Only decent MMO with Heroes and Henchmen
Ghryphon
Prep for GW2...basically title grinding. Gf and I still have fun, dont really meet new people since we do everything by ourselves.
HM vanqin is pretty fun, plus mixed with cartography, gives us some stuff to do.

EternalTempest
Guildmates & Friends + HoM unlocks (for my main character only).
Aera Lure
Mostly right now I log on here and there, look at characters, stand around and say hi to a few people. Sometimes I contemplate joining a random PUG for a random mission for more social play. Sometimes I actually do. Anything to break up the little number 4's floating above everyone's heads.
I was playing for titles for a while there, but not motivated to do so anymore. Last one was Legendary Guardian with a friend/guildie and it was a ton of fun.

For me it's, immersion in the world being my character, friends, fun at radio station parties.
Some things I used to enjoy seem to have gone. Community, now it's lots of silent zombie players with the number 4 over their heads; and getting drops.
I still have lots of things to do and enjoy meeting new people.

This is the same question i ask myself. With bigger, better mmo rpgs out there like star wars battlefront, wow, everquest, etc, what makes guild wars so unique? I personally think it's the fact that guild wars isn't some corporate mockery that makes you pay the $14 a month, and I really respect the fact that they NEVER DELETE CHARACTERS FROM THEIR SERVERS, when the other cheap games you must pay said money for will delete characters (and whole acounts) in a heartbeat for inactivity. You can literally submerse yourself into guild wars, take a break for real life, and then come back a year later, no prob. Hell, you even get birthday presents on guild wars.
Guild wars rules. Nothing else needs be said here.

Addiction (:B), Grinding money, equipping my heroes, playing other classes (have only done my ranger in 2 years actually).

Tingi
wow havn't been on here in ages. But anyway...I don't play it anymore 'cuz IMO anet screwed this game up long time ago....
Early prophecies days were the best, with early PvP and even PvE was fun back then. Now, PvP is not so good anymore and PvE is piss poor.

Nothing does, HG:L and Fury betas > GW. I just browse forums for my daily humor fix reading posts like "Release Enchantments is a good monk skill" before returning to playing something else.

I might return when the PvP is no longer boring and the PvE stops sucking.
Terra Xin
erm, everything?
Mike_version2
Yelling stuff in guild chat, that mostly what I do when I come on now.
glountz
Because I have quite a bunch of e-friends on GW. Other than that, nothing.
Laughing and joking through TS is the main purpose, GW is only a pretext.

It IS still fun, despite all its problems. Beats the hell out of most of the other options in the online RPG market, especially since you don't have to pay monthly.
yeah_hi
1. There is no monthly fee.
2. It doesn't require massive time investment i.e. I can log on and do a mission or AB battle in 20 mins, then log out and do something else.
3. I like having the choice of amusing myself ingame and following my own agenda, or I can be sociable if I feel like it.
4. I can take long breaks then come back and not feel left behind because my friends/guildies have out-levelled me.
5. I still find it fun to play.
6. I feel a need to 'finish things off' (i.e complete titles) with my favourite character.
7. My friends/guildies.

-Instancing+H/H+Low level cap+8 skill system:
I can play whenever I want, with whom I want, and I can do it in many different ways (i.e, many different chars). I can be logged off for a week or more and still be competitive when I come back.
I tried, during these 2 years, play other titles, but, the more I play other titles..the more I want to play GW.
I have absolute no patience for mandatory grind, neither I can with only a char for too much time without getting bored.
Quests to do..places to go..you name it

Because there isn't a better competitive PvP game on the market atm.

I've tried playing other games and don't want too. Just keep coming back to GW. I even have unopened games on my shelf that have been sitting there for a year.
I like to title grind and accumulate wealth, there is just so much to do that I have not done yet. I have yet to finish GW:EN and it is loaded with stuff that I have not got into very much. I do not play a lot, but I am usually on everyday for a bit, and I do stay logged on death-leveling with a pre-searing character that is going for LDOA.

I have to type fast, before he returns. If he catches me not playing GW, then I'll get 20 lashes! (help me!) Oh, God! here he comes! Nooo, not the whip! Not the Whippppppppp......
HardWonFame
Guild Wars is a nice change of pace from the other MMOs I play these days. Keeps me coming back when I need a break from the real grind.
Bryant Again
I usually play whenever something new comes along.
Buster
The only thing left for me to do is title grind if I choose to but I think I pretty much hit the wall. Time for a change for awhile until GW2 is released I think.
