Kurzick or Luxon?
Rosa Vixen
Ok so first off sorry if i posted this in the forum, but im in a bit of a rush
In factions, im at the part where i choose kurzick or luxon. My guild is luxon but..well when i rele think about it i like the luxon "theme" more, but when im travelling i think i like the kurzick look more. Kurzicks are NOT emo so please do not post that. Please just leave any comments about the sides or your favourite and why..yea yea corny but w/e.
Thanks

Personally I like the luxons. I've played both sides of the game and I like the luxon look and the luxon missions. The kurzicks are ok but their side of the game is kind of dull in my opinion and had a few really frustrating quests. And well...the Kurzicks are pretty emo. I mean make up, black clothes, they even complain and whine a lot if you talk to them at the right time. LoL You'll hear that a lot though so you may as well get used to it. If you find that offensive then you've already decided on kurzicks and my only advice to you is to remember it's just a game.
Lil Mystique
You can always do both
Luxon would be easier for you since your guild is Luxon. Unless you have a friend in a Kurzick guild that will guest you a few times to get the 10k faction needed for the Befriending quest.

Honestly.... I find Echovald Forest a lot more calming and asthetically pleasing in every respect than the Jade Sea... Cavalon is a total eyesore.
Plus the entire war stinks in the undertones of Ninja versus Pirate.... and I side with the Ninjas every time.

Ah, good point. Go for the side with the armor you want ^.^
Reef lurkers look wierd anyway imo, lol.

Clearly posts like that really promote the helpful GW community.
Unfortunately I am in a Luxon guild and alliance, and have been almost since I started GW. I dunno though...I think I prefer the Luxon side, geographically, but the Kurzick armours are just cool. Hmm, overall favourite? It's too close to call, I might have to vote Kurzick since the "sea creatures", especially the Irukandji, really annoyed me when I was vanquishing some areas.
I guess it's all much of a muchness at the end of the day. If you're going through for the first time go with the side with the most elites you want to cap.

Yes.
Kurzicks are Ninjas.
Luxons are Pirates..... Gypsy Pirates.... Smelly (fishy), Gaudy, Savage, Gypsy Pirates.
And Cavalon looks like a bad "Changing Rooms" job.
Whereas House Zu Heltzer has the perfect ambience... and Count Zu Heltzer is cool and well-dressed, though don't tell him my Sin is doing his daughter.

No, the alignment of your guild does not matter, providing you gain the 10,000 Kurzick faction for your account you can complete Befriending the Kurzicks.

If you actually want to take part in the Alliance battles etc to capture towns you might want to think about which side you want to play. If you just play the game you don't pick a side. You just... well... play the game. You can easily get elite kurzick and luxon armor on the same char.

Or do as my Monk did and get half-and-half. Elite Kurzick jacket with Elite Luxon bracers and sandals... all dyed Guild-Mauve. It looks surprisingly good.
Healers Wisper
If you are in a luxon guild, it is fairly easy to do both sides. FFF on the kurz side make the 10,000 Kurz easy to obtain and AB will make the 10,000 luxon Fairly easy to obtain. I suggest if its your first time through and your main charactor do both sides. There are alot of cool elite skill in both areas and unlocking both side becomes super helpful if you decide to map or vanquish.

Personally I like the hippy pirate feel of the luxon. Hairy women FTW!!!!! lol

Well overall I love playing on the Luxon side of the game cause I like the way it looks, but sometimes I'll go over to the kurzick side too, I guess it just depends on my mood.

If you want a Black Moa Chick, you'll need access to end-game Luxon.
But in order to get a pet Black Moa you need access to Kurzick...
oh the cruel irony!

Being join towner of my guild we tend to swap sides back and forth, as we want to max out both Luxon and Kurzick titles, personally i prefer the Kurzick side both looks and gameplay in the area.
If you are in a luxon guild though i would stay with it, as you change to kurzick you would have to leave the guild. Also I find its far easier to get into Alliance Battles on the Luxon side than the Kurzick. I have waited about 30 mins in Kurzick but never more that 5 in Luxon.
As previously mentioned you can do both quests despite being allied to one. And with the Priests at shrines giving a bonus similar to the Lightbringer and Sunspear shrines in Elona you can farm point by killing foes to your heart content and never have to leave the alliance you are in. This would allow you to farm faction for either side whenever you want.

It depends...
In alliance battles, if you prefer running from shrine to shrine capping and not much combat, go with the Kurzicks; if you prefer gathering into a mob and rampaging around, go with the Luxons.
For areas I like the Jade Sea a lot, but the Echovald Forest has a nice cozy feel to it. Although the Wardens are pretty annoying.
For their cultures I go with the Kurzicks because they prize innovation whereas the Luxons just prize mindless strength...
The Kurzicks, by the way, are not emo; black clothes =/= emo; I wear black all the time and I'm not emo. I have three theories as to why they wear black. The first is to blend in better in the Echovald Forest, the second theory is it may be a religious reason to do with the Five True Gods, the third is that it just looks good and because they can afford lots of black dye

I have done a lot of travelling, both in the service and since then, and I compliment the differences between the Kurzicks and the Luxons as mirroring what I see between "surfer-dude" and "land lubber" areas. The landscapes and art in both reflect those differences as well as the attitudes.
I personally go Kurzick because I am blinded by the unending turquoise glow of Luxonland. Neither the sea nor the desert have ever appealed to me in real life beyond pretty pictures on a wall and the foods, dances, and folk-art that come from them. I come from and live in an area of deep woods where mushroom hunting is a big deal (something bragged about at morning coffee in the local cafe). Most buildings in our county were built by German imigrant bricklayers between the Civil and First World Wars. Kurzickland feels homey to me, where in contrast Luxonland is tolerable and quaint.
However, I fully understand that these are personal influences. And I play both. I am leader of a small Kurzick aligned guild, yet - I have title in Luxon out of game play while I do not yet in Kurzick.

How can you put up with the voice? Do you use a gag?
I like the forest more, but go with the armor I guess, or whichever mobs you prefer to fight. You'll probably clear the other side afterwards anyway

I quite like the Jade Sea actually although I do spend a fair amount of time just staring at the scenery ^^

QFT. Factions has the most godawful voice acting I've ever heard.
I much prefer Echovald Forest to the Jade Sea...and the armor as well. But if you're in a Luxon guild, you might as well do luxon for the double reputation points.
And as an aside, I like "kurpricks" more than "kurdicks." It just rolls off the tongue.

If you want to get through quick and easy, you may want to opt for the Luxons. You can run the quest that takes you to Gyala Hatchery, and then Gyala Hatchery itself is a quick and easy mission if you do it right.
I personally prefer going the Kurzick way because I like the atmosphere, as well as the armor, but in comparison it is more difficult/time consuming than going the Luxon way. You need a pretty decent group to do Eternal Grove properly and get masters, which is often not easy to find... unless you know some people who can help you.

Kurzick 4 life!
who said a little rp isn't fun
I've always liked Kurzick more but chose whichever you like more even if its a filthy Luxon. The environment is probably the most important consideration since you'll be spending some time in it.
For me the biggest draw was the architecture and culture. I really like the whole family nobility stuff a lot more than clan warlike stuff.

Hmmm ^^
Well, i have been in my share of luxon and kurzick guilds, and to my knowledge, luxons are noobs. Maybe it was just my guilds but omg..they sucked..the guild leader was an 11 year old for gods sake!
And kurzicks seem more..experienced. I must admit, i love the storyline of the kurzicks but probally would go with the luxon atmosphere..*sigh* i guess im all for the hairy luxon woman ftw :P

Ummm...both sides can run around like maniacs or concentrate on capping. Its the just the luck of the draw. I try encourage people to stay at the shrines and defend and only engage in combat that way. No running around like buffoons. Also, I frown on standing by the teleporters and killing people as soon as they appear. Its just in bad taste.
I'm a Luxon mainly because there are just too many danged Kurzies. Plus alot of Kurzick guilds are like "Donate 5k a day or else!!". What if someone doesn't have Factions? The concept of two opposing factions is ok but just leads to immature spamming. I wish there'd been 3 factions. It would be harder for any one faction to control more areas than another and make it more of an achievement when you do gain control of a town.
I wish ANet would give enough quests in the Luxon area to equal 10k faction for Befriending The Luxons. Did they ever explain why Kurzicks get more that 10k faction from quests but Luxons get less? Also, why did they make all the foes in the Kurzick area so much easier to kill? A balance between the areas each faction controls is needed.

1) Getting into a battle=Luxon ftw
2) armor = mostly kurz
3) mobs= both sides, don't be idiots and say one side mobs only
4) Luxons have a fricking sea made of jade, kurz have a fricking forest of stone and amber.
5) I prefer luxon side cuz of scenry
6) Ninjas vs pirates?
7) We can chest run in our place, huzzah for outcasts ^^

Doesn't make much difference really, just depends whether you want to get called a 'Suxon' or 'Kurdick' in Ab's.

GoKurz. Kurz mission side is 100000 times easier. Plus, you might ACTUALLY find a PuG instead of all henchies

I think the Luxon mission is easier than the Kurzick mission, although I still side with the Kurzicks.
I like wandering around the Echovald Forest. It's very peaceful, once you take out the Wardens, the Mantids, the Kirin, the Undergrowths, the Gaki... It's the perfect place to find a tree to sit under and contemplate the mysteries of the universe, set up an easel and make a painting of the landscape, or pull out a flute and serenade the treetops.

Eh? Gyala Hatchery is about as end-game as you get (besides the Elite Mish, of course). After that, the Missions join back together in Unwaking Waters, so it really doesn't matter which side you chose.
The difference between getting a Egg hardened is you only need ONE character in Kurzick-land to get it.
Your character has to be able to enter Gyala Hatchery explorable to get a customized Incubator.

I am in a kurzick guild, although I dislike the kurizck quite a bit. Luxon's seem more free from a trapped society that the kurzicks have and not to mention they do seem to love to be trapped by their own sense of morality and society.
But most of all, they love to take the moral high ground, thinking that luxons are barbarians since their society and morality greatly differs from the their own, which from my impression is based on a aristocrat society.

I've played out both sides, but really, the Luxons are the ones who have my bow. After all, they're the ones with massive turtles. And as the old saying goes, "Show a Ranger and intricate cathedral, and he will fight with you for a day. Show a Ranger a society that uses turtles as its main form of transport, warfare, and about every other bit of society (the crabs don't play too small a part either) and he will fight for you for life.
