Well, I would answer that with a few questions.

Do you have R5 in Vanguard yet?

I found Vanguard to be the only rep I couldn't get R5 with just quests, missions, dungeons, and normal exploring. I HAD to farm. (Some may argue with that statement, but lets save that discussion for another thread) So if you dont have R5 Vangaurd, I would go with that.

Have you completed "The Path of Revelation" quest?

Keeping that quest uncompleted is by far the best way to farm Norn points. I will give you SEVERAL easy boss kills. If you have already completed that quest, farm for Norn points this weekend.

Otherwise, go with Asura.

Dwarf would be a bad choice regardless due to them being so easy to get with dungeons and Snowman cave runs.

I agree, the Snowman cave is fun(except for the hassle part where you get the dungeon key). I'd save that for last.

Snowman dungeon = teh pwn, only problem is the delay you have for the end chest because of the 'speech'

Yeah at first I didn't bother with that and just resigned or mapped back. But then I realized there's a chest and I may as well get the holiday items.

OK, new plan for me:

Get a Ritualist to level 20 ASAP to get the Norn armor for him.

If time, get my Ranger to 20 ASAP to get Norn armor, too!

(for some reason, I have 11 characters, but only 3 level 20s!)

Unlike many others, I'm not obsessed with having maxed titles. I'll only get my monk's rep titles to r5 and that's it. No, I don't want the armors. What my 10 characters currently wear is just fine. I just want to improve the rep skills a little instead.

Was saying beginning of last week if that weekend was a double points one was gonna be kinda pissed after grinding the points for my sin. Co-incidence? Ah well, out of the 3 people I was getting EotN armour for, 2 have it, and one went elsewhere as I couldn't be bothered with the grind.

Specs here I come!

OK, I'll bite.

I do hate this crap. Have awful chest drops all year, except for one weekend when you can farm r9 golds to your hearts content? Ditto greens. Now the same with armour, via reputation. How is this good design? Why isn't the game balanced so these weekends aren't necessary?

Stuff 'em. I deleted all my lvl 20 toons in reaction to GW:EN, and I ain't rushing back for bonus boredom.

These weekends aren't necessary. But once you've played all the campaigns and done all the missions and side-quests, you're going to be bored. So you'll either look elsewhere for entertainment, or look for something else to do within GW. I like bashing pixels on a screen, it's how I relax after a long day. I understand that it's not everyone's cup of tea, but it's one way players can keep themselves occupied for the moment. What alternative would you have the game present you with, aside more time on part of the dev team creating missions and storylines?

ANet - "Hmm how about another pro-grinding week-end instead ?"
Same GW Players - "Wooooooa thx ANet, gonna be a fun week-end !!!"

Hmmm.... I think you're missing my point. I'm not saying bonus weekends are a bad idea, but too often they feel like a temporary fix for some aspect of the game that sucks. And the difference can often be rather extreme - with the chests example, I went from under-equipped, mostly collector weapons to golds for all classes in a couple of days. I didn't even spend that much, because at the time I was rather poor. After a couple of those weekends I started disposing of any gold that wasn't r9 - simply because there wasn't much point in keeping anything else. That's the absolute opposite of the usual experience of playing the game.

Now we have a weekend were grinding for armour will be considerably less painfull - but it's OK that it goes back afterwards? Why? It's like a torturer stopping to put a bandaid on you and mop your brow, while the generator charges up.

Why do I have this sinking feeling they are about to nerf all the PvE skills this weekend................................

I have heard that a skill balance is coming soon, so it is possible. Only Ursan Blessing is overpowered though.

Nerfing PvE skills at the same time as double rep weekend would be sorta redundant. At least half the people hate the EOTN armors so the only reason to grind rep would be improved skill efficiency. Take that away and what’s the point of grinding at all (besides trying to max a title I guess)?

The majority of pve skills is overpowered- that's why they are pve only.
As long as mobs don't come here whining, who cares?

It would be nice if the next two weekends were grinding events. Then a Halloween festival relax at. I loved wandering around the Halloween version of Lions Arch and gathering around the Mad King with everyone. It was like being at a Halloween festival at a school as a kid.

I need to decide what's the most efficient use of this weekend.

So far I've played EOTN only with my ranger, and on this I have level 6 for most titles. So I could grind this weekend to reach level 8.

Neverheless, I think that with HM we're going to have double (or nearly double) points for kills. So that will be a permanent double reputation, not just a weekend.

I have also other 3 maybe 4 characters I'd like to play in EOTN, and some armors or components I like.
So this could be the occasion to do the required grind for my other chars halving the time.

Which one would be the best option?

I'm not sure which would be best. I'll use the weekend to do some rep farming but I probably won't reach level 8 on any titles. But some progress will be made.

I am not sure that this will happen. The entire point of skill balancing (or nerfing if you wish to see it that way) is to balance PVP.

As these skills by their very nature cannot be used in PVP, there should be no need to change them.

Very very few skills have ever been changed as a direct result of them being overpowered in PVE. Protective Spirit is perhaps the only skill I can think of that was nerfed for PVE reasons. This was meant to prevent farming bots.

With the other changes that have been made to PVE, especially loot scaling, I can't see that they will do much to change the PVE only skills.

I could be wrong, but to be honest, with the exception of Pain Inverter and Light of Deldrimor, I never use them.

Hmmm.. I suppose that Pain Inverter could be considered to be over-powered though but it is definitely fun :-)

People farm DoA with it, besides, it really dumbens down the gameplay if you simply HAVE to take a bear form because you are to baed to own some without it.

PvE only skills were by design to be overpowered, then again they need to be, ever face one of those dinosours in Asura territory, even with the PvE only skills, I was killed in two or three hits. The only thing they changed was how many you could use at one time, used to be 4, now it's 3.

As for skill balance, by definition all skill balance is, is the down grading (Nerf) of over used skills, and the up grading (Buff) of under used skills to force build deversity in PvP, namely HA, but is not limited to only HA, some TA, RA, HB, and GvG. AB doesn't matter, any build will work in AB.

Yeah but problems will arise if people go farm expensive goodies with them, it could hurt the economy. Ursan blessing is just insane really. If people get killed by dinosaurs in Asura territory they are bad, but that's another discussion.

I doubt it with the farming code in place, I also doubt the economy will even be effected, same bullshit arguments were made everytime some skill or ability was labled Overpowered. And every time it never came true.

Ursan blessing is best with a maxed out Norm title, because then it will funtion like the missions blessing. Yes it is a powerful skill, but it is also an elete, so I would expect it to be. Still tho, I don't even use it, I can cause more damage with my sin then with that ability.
