Bonus Mission Pack, Thoughts?
Kerwyn Nasilan
Well the bonus mission pack comes in only a little over a week. What do you think? I personally am looking foward to it. Fun missions that are definently story based (preset solo skill bar) and will ofter unique rewards? Are we talkin greens or titles? Discuss.
Witchblade
i heard there will be greenies so i hope there'll be another real reward ^^
Zinger314
If the reward is anything of value, expect endless complaints of "OMG GW FAVORS PAY TO PLAY GW IS DOOMED!"
(And no, they won't be from me.)
(And no, they won't be from me.)
Skuld
I don't think you'd get any of that if they allowed you to pay with cash, or at the very least opened up more payment methods in the online store.
Witchblade
maybe NF-like Treasure Chests?

I bet it'll be heaps of fun. There will also probably be a dozen rant threads about why it sucks...
samifly
Well they tried with PayPal but everyone was like... "I dont need it so no one else will."

I think everyone who bought all three games, plus the expansion should have access to this material. I am severely displeased with Area Net over this. I might not return to Guild Wars 2. I mean, if this is how they treat their customers, then I don't think i'll buy their products anymore.
Kerwyn Nasilan
I am also waiting for the Hate threads , And if it is greens they had better be customized or else it will be like "WTS Greenie from BMP 100k+34ectos!!!11!" Well maybe not that much . I'm forseeing 12 hate threads the day it comes out..

I certainly don't know all the details with what happened in your case, but even taking that out of the picture - it's a bonus pack, it came about because of a certain promotion. You're not entitled to it just because you own all three expansions, nor are you being "treated" in any certain way just because this bonus pack needs to be acquired from their personal store. And when people stand up on their podium and go "I am OWED this content!" ... well, I wish that were the case. But it's not.

I personally had major problems with the ingame store. I researched it with my bank, and found out that NCSoft (the ultimate charge source) was blocked because of fraudulent transactions in the past (eh, must've gotten some really weird stuff happening at some time in the past). Meanwhile NCSoft had blocked me from trying to take a transaction out for a week cuz of repeated attempts. I further found out that my bank could unblock NCSoft for 24 hours time, allowing me to take the transaction out. Suffice it to say, nearly 3 weeks later I bought what I intended to in the first place. Adding PayPal would simplify things a TON, especially since it offloads financial responsibility from the ingame store to PayPal.
As for the BMP, I'm more excited for the bits of lore they're going to handle. They may be playing up the "ZOMG! You get to fight Palawa Joko!" angle, but in reality they're going to fill in tidbits about Cantha, the ancient Scourge of Vabbi, the little 2 year blackspot after the Searing, and the true origin of the Mursaat. Yes, we'll FINALLY get to see what's above the Ullen River (how else will Saul D'Alessio find them?). For me, answering more of those unanswered questions in the lore will trump whatever cheap green/armor/mini/cheesy reward you get.

I'm really sorry that people would have to go to extra effort to make a purchase, but the truth is, we've had a high level of Internet fraud perpetrated in the store, which has resulted in our tightening restrictions. It's sort of like your neighborhood store. You're just fine until you notice disappearing merchandise, at which time you might need to get that camera system, or hire a "secret shopper" who looks for shoplifters.
Anyway, TaCktiX, you were very resourceful, and very non-criticizing, and I do appreciate that! The best means to purchase these days is through the in-game store, and not the PlayNC store. The safeguards are still in place, but existing customers will have an easier experience in the in-game store.
Edit to add: PayPal? My only wish was that I could get a copy for my hubby as well, but seeing as I am the one with the 'account' and can only get ONE for me and not for him....I guess I will be very lonely playing those missions .........

Gaile's post has errors. o.O; Anyway, I'm really looking forward to seeing Joko and getting greens and whatever else is offered.

Looks cool, though I'm sure there'll be plenty of complaining. As with GWEN (which is, IMO, fantastic), I suspect the best solution will be to stay off the forum for awhile and simply play and enjoy the game.

I just wish that there was some way I could get access to the extra content without having to jump through hoops, and climb latters. I just wish you guys had done Pay Pal. But if you guys keep doing special "in-game-store-only promotions" ... without a alternitive payment option, then I just dunno about GW2.
With that said, I really want to put in that I LOVE guild wars. All three chapters, plus I think GWEN is a blast. The dungeons are great to do with guildies, and allience friends. As I have made a number of new mates during the year i've been playing GWs. I'm sorry Gaile, to have said such things. But it's hard to ignore the truth sometimes, ya know??
:]

Seriously though guys...Gaile has said in the past that the online store essentially has nothing to do with her...
How many companies are out there that managed to get an online store that actually worked, and allowed more than one method of payment? Geez, even the NCSoft online store, which basically OWNS GW, managed to work.
I have absolutely no problem with the BMP Promotion at all. It makes sense that it be through the online store, promoting people to buy directly for the source. It IS however a stupid time to have had it, with an online store that didn't work for a lot of credit card users, had no alternative payment methods, and didn't offer a good enough variety of product purchases.
I'm lucky I had no problems with my CC (other than the ridiculous exchange rate from AUD to GBP) and so I've qualified. I'm looking forward to it, but I still maintain that the GW team should learn from the absolute travesty their online store has been, and maybe actually look at the sites of some other companies who miraculously seem to have avoided all the problems that the GW store was having.
If it were a new technology i would understand, but it isn't, and there's no reason they should have done such a half-arsed job on it. There are heaps of dedicated players who would have been happy to purchase from the store to get the BMP, but were unable to due to false fraud pickups, no alternate payment options, and no appealing stock.

I don't think it's fair for those who bought all their games in the stores. If I want to get these mission pack I'm forced to buy things that at the moment I don't need. Why don't make this pack for sale online for a descent amount for those who already bought their games?

I personally bought 3 character slots and the Game of the Year add-on, making my character tally 14 with 3 ever-changing PvP slots. Yes, I love Guild Wars.
One suggestion I'd have for adding to the store is adding Divine Aura to the upgrades list. The original GW:CE is no longer in stores, is super-rare to find without the key already attached to the account, and I for one would easily pony up the $5-10 for the perk (was considering paying $100 for a copy of GW:CE on ebay, until some idiots inflated it to $202). To some extent people like me who came in a year (or two) late and have loved GW ever since got gipped. I wasn't there when it started, and yet I'd like to support/get perks just as much as the next guy.

I'm not sure what to think about it. I would have preferred, I think, to have been able to explore it with my own character, but they do sound as though they are being fairly creative in the gameplay aspect which ought to be fun. Its just the incentive to replay any of the four areas I think would come from being able to take your character in, not to mention drops and rewards (?). Falls squarely in the "wait and see" category, but I am looking forward to it.

i just bought the GW:EN pre release, GW 1million copy edition upgrade, and the whole GW:EN on the store when they came out. (just couldn't bear to wait 2 week minimum to have it delivered)

Just sad I'll never be able to get it like this...
(No can't get pre-paid cards here in belgium as far as i know, and you need a credit card to add funds to paypal, so that wouldn't be a solution either...)

greens probably, minipet would be unlikely, since the missions are spread out over the campaigns (and form what i can gather) with nothing really in common. so unless the reward for finishing all those is a birthday present that gives you a random one i think minipets are unlikely.
maybe some kind of special armor, a single piece or maybe even a set, who knows.
about the whole paypal thing, i looked into it once before i got my visa card. but it's not really an option, if you don't have a credit card to use to transfer money its really not any use.
Where I live there were no other options available to me than getting a credit card or getting in touch with someone who had one to even use paypal, so you might as well just get the creditcard and use that in the store.
I think a lot of people automatically assume that what they can get in their country is available everywhere else, at the same price, which is far from the truth, there aren't a lot of things which are globally available, at the same price.

I see much speculation on what types of items will be dropped in these missions -
You will not be using your own characters, so, how will you get any drops at all?
crazy diamond
My guess is that the Bonus Missions are activated in-game by talking to some NPC, so weapons, items, and titles would go to whichever character you used to play it.
