The Closing Hours

(I don't know if this exactly goes here, but it's related to GW so it was my best bet. Feel free to move it.)


I've been talking to fellow players a lot and I've heard a lot of talk about GW's Final weeks before GW2 Pops up and everyone or most, drop GW.

Now I know that's inevitable, but shouldn't we have SOME sort of fun while we still can? Now I'm looking for ideas that would be awesome for like the last 2 weeks of GW's life. So far I have....

1. Boosting PvP Skill power to twice what it is now (30 dmg before turns to 60 dmg)
2. Double everything. (ex. Faction, Tourni tokens, points, titles)
3. The boardwalk comes back.
4. 1 week of EVERYTHING having an increased (50%+) chance to drop Spiked Eggnogs.

now remember, this is just for the closing weeks and then when GW2 comes out, they can change it back. I'm just looking to get all the fun out of this as I can.

I'm sure they won't close GW1 Servers right away when gw2 comes out

Yeah, that is exactly what we want to do, standing on the silly boardwalk in the "closing hours".

They've said they will keep GW1 servers running for as long as possible after GW2 is released. Shutting them down is not something they want to do.

I think it would be cool to see how my toon dies. Hopefully going down in a blaze of glory and taking some char with him.

They will not close the servers, No MMO with this much response and such a vast player base will close its servers even after a new game is released IN 2 YEARS.

Technically the OP didn't say anything about closing servers, only about the population moving. So everyone harping on about how the servers aren't going to close are failing reading comprehension. :P

What I know will happen on that last week: Lost of last minute material buying, crafting and so on in order to fill up Hall of Monuments.

Yeah i recall reading somewhere (think it was when Gaile came to Kamadan a while back) That after the release of GW2 you would still be able to go back to GW1.

EDIT* Think i remembered where i heard it, it was in an HoM discussion where it said after the release of GW2 you would still be able to go back and fill the HoM which suggests they wont shut down GW1 for quite a long time after GW2 comes out

Are they even allowed to just shut them down? Thats abit of a joke if they can because you build stuff up in a game to be able to keep. If they do everyone should get a full refund by customer rights?

lol they reserve the right to terminate any particular service ( something along those lines im pretty sure) so if they really wanted to, they could jus perma ban us all and that would be that..

As well they will want new players to GW2 to play GW:EN so they can put stuffi n the HoM to start with in GW2, or how ever it will work. But imagine that if HoM stuff works out well then players want to have more leet stuff they will got back to GW1/GW:EN to add more to the HoM for their new GW2 chars well after GW2 comes out...

look like the OP is forgetting that GW2 ties in with GW, they'll make overlapping sections. Hopeing that vast majority of New players to GW2, Buy there shiney now complete pack release of GW; all chapters included and bonus material.

Get your extra levels by maxing out HoM in GW....

GW is going to be open at least as long as GW2 is.

Most other MMOs I have played have shut down eventually, most some months after the next version came out. Some have stayed alive in unsupported forms. Absolutely though: Anet can shut GW down at any time and we wouldnt get a refund etc. Just the way it is.

Now if Arenanet were to sell the GW line to a company like Microsoft, then yeah say good bye to everything we've ever done in GW1. Infact if Nintendo bought the GW line, same thing. Look what they did to the Nsider.

And what I was talking about is just some extra fun and a last moment "push" for all those people who are just there, but not quite. Like, tying up loose ends for the HoM. And the double PvP damage thing is just for blasting the shit out of eachother and laughing at how the Echo-Arcane Echo- Flare build can kill 400 people before they go down. It's all just to have loads of fun before we have to go back to learning a new thing, getting runs, finding farm spots and so on.
