[Luxons] and [kurzicks] ... Why the hate?
dont feel no pain
Honestly why is there so much hate lol, its like spliting 2 million players in half and then both sides suddenly hate each other? like ehhh?????
and if you dont know what i am talking about:
"OMG NOOB SUXONS!!!! ALWAYS MOB"
and...
"LOL KUDICKS SUCK"
and even...
"ROFL OUR MOB WILL RAPE YOU LUXONS/KURZICKS"
and in worst situations:
*in droknars*
"Recruiting for kurzick Guild, very active, we own teh suxons"

Ab is where all the 12-13 year olds hang out (mostly anyway)..
Thats why you see so much bs in there...

because the ppl fighting in those sides want to get there title fast and they dont like it when they lose .. i think lol

The typical GW player is dumb as a doornail. Most competitive team games forbid talking to the other team for such reasons (including, but not limited to, WoW).
Shadowfox1125
Well, this is nothing new; this started before Factions was released.
I've changed sides so many times that I don't even read that banter.

Whenever you separate two sets of people and give them an identity, no matter how arbitrary, this happens. It happens if you separate a bunch of kids at a summer camp into a blue team and a red team starting on day 1, it happens when people mention mmorpg A on mmorpg B's forums, etc.

because its natural to dislike your enemies, and the game pitches 2 sides against each other. you can call it role-playing if you want

Aww, it's all in good fun. It's a team spirit thing.

I tend to keep local chat off in PvP.
Micromaster
AB has always been like that. It's just like in real life with sports. Trying crossing a yankees fan with a red sox fan. I like going to AB and see what type of builds the noobs have made up.

Stop talking, and start playing is what I always say.

LOL Its been like that since AB's started. I just keep local and team chat off. After all who wants to see what a bunch of failures have to say.
=HT=Ingram
Kurzicks rule Luxons drool!! I been saying that since the launch. lol Its just finally caught on now that more people are playing AB then ever before. Even more so then when it had the 48 vs 48 bug in AB.
All thanks to the HUGE grind requirement for some PvE skills. Hummm... Interesting... It actually was not that huge if you played AB from the beginning, but if you never really did much with the faction points as I'm sure most did not... As the concept of owning a town was never that attractive for a causal player... Now they have to play AB to death to get the faction they have too in order to get their title. Either that or play normally in Factions and use the shrines... But again... Factions is the LEAST popular campaign of the franchise. so most people will really not want anything to do with those particular bounties... So the fastest way is AB for those people.
Obviously the skills are popular, and people must want them. I don't see the reason, but ok whatever. Since that is the case that trusty AB line moves around a lot... and people are INVESTED in their faction side so they are less likely to switch to the dominating side if they are winning more...

I honestly don't see even see the point and it's yet another reason why I rarely have local on or not on DnD.
Goddess Elaine
Haha, I see this a lot.
Every time my side lost ( Luxon ), Kurzicks say " Suxons are losers! " etc.
Honestly... it really doesn't bother me. It just shows how immature some people
are.

The Kurzick vs. Luxon thing is like the Sunnis vs. Shiites in real life. I find it funny and sometimes I do AB just to read the back and forth dialogue in the chat box.

It's because AB is where the majority of the unintelligent population hang out. It's hard to live with, I know, but if you want to AB, live with it.

Because people are stupid and think they are good at the game because they can insult the other side. Either that or they realize how much they fail and insult the other team to make themselves feel better. But since it is impossible for them to even comprehend how bad they are, I will stick to my first point.

How'd you know I was Kurzick?
I'm actually planning on switching after getting R4 for a Luxon Monument.

The release of 300 made this problem go into "hyper-stupidity" mode. I love it, it's hilarious.
=HT=Ingram
In this case its mostly us having fun... its not the same environment thats in RA. At least it does not seem that way to me. However IF you are offended, Which I was regularly in RA, I simply turn off All chat completly. Its its happening in Team chat, that goes off too.. I just play without the chat distraction and all is well.
BTW if you can not figure out whats going on in a 4 man team without chat or voice. something is wrong...
I mean Kur Lux thing was an interesting thing, but because of the alliance system and the loss of the opposing points for doing any titles made it that you really had to commit to a side and go from there... I know at least 20 people that have yet to even play any lux areas beyond the hatchery because they were unwilling to grind out 10,000 luxon points and loose their kurzick Upkeep for towns or whatever for the week...
It was an interesting twist and SO FAR its worked. Cause they have not had a situation yet that EVERYONE is one or the other. so I have to give them that.

Or really cool rewards for the Challenge Missions in the deep ends.
Sakura Az
i have to play for the kurz today.. neadless to say my heart wasn't really in the battle, i'm an r5 luxon, i kept getting my color confused, would "retreat" to a red shirne only to realize that i wasn't with the luxons. ugh it wasn't fun, but it was fun letting a luxon trapper keep trapping the snot out of the teleporters.
=HT=Ingram
I always wanted them to allow people to go up from harvest temple on the other side Once the game was done, so they would not have to grind out faction in order to see the rest of the game. IDK its not that big a deal to me. but still its unfortunate that I know there has to be some bit of the population that has never even seen the other side of that area because of that...

Yes, they will burn a bunch of faction, but those 10,000 opponent faction can be gained in a few days of quite enjoyable questing. After you're through, get a bunch of passage scrolls or crafting materials.
The few hundred own faction to allow you to talk to merchants can be gained back in 10min of mindless ABing.
If people choose not to explore certain areas, they only have themselves to blame. The system is not great, but the hurdles are not high either.
t_the_nihilst
Cause talking crap is funny. I don't really care. Kurzick, Luxon, whatever...
But I love to see people get all mad over it.
Makes me rofl. For the real-real.

I enjoy ABing, and nine times out of ten, I tend to keep my snarky comments to myself.. Until I'm griefed by five sins because they're a little bit upset I killed them, or helped kill them or.. well you know how it goes.
It doesn't matter to me what side i'm on, as long as the crew I'm with knows it's all about having fun.

Meh, anything in GW sparks the "IM BETTAR THEN U, U GUYZ SUCK!!1" trash talking. So give people a side to choose from and see it explode.

I think its funny to start a rel in the city
Just say "All hail to [insert facionname here]"
You will get hate PM's with, damn i hate you "!@#!$!"
And stuff like that.
Bu some people are funny in a PM, trying to shout, i love you etc ...
But yeah, they are little children who acts that way
But sometimes new players ask "What is a luxon" or something like that, but they you will always get a fight with that ...

I havn't AB'ed much at all, but this thread inspires me to give it another shot.
I'll need to come up with some clever insults first though.

lol most of the hate is between luxons vs luxons in the competitions for the 'best' towns and kurzick vs kurzicks.
i do regular ab and to be honest i don't see too much "OMG SUXON" stuff to be honest ,but if it does happen it is coming from little children

Well, ANet designed Kurzick and Luxon to be enemies. And enemies simply behave like this. See real-life enemies for example. Trite but true, even here.

This artificial hate is a form of entertainment
You feel elevated and belonging to a certain bigger group by bashing the other one.
There are no lore reasons for this. It is just TEAM A vs TEAM B. Have you ever seen a soccer match between two neighbouring villages in Bavaria, Germany?
The other team is described as inept retards, but if your team wins, it is a great victory. :>
Outside of AB's, the luxon/kurzick difference vanishes. "You are a Luxon? Eeeks!" - but that was it. Nobody cares about it. People are still trying to figure out if Luxons belong more to this or that social group and Kurzick to the other. Kurzick are mostly put in the Emo-bag, Luxons are young kiddies playing pirates. So much about simplification.
It just creates problems when you join an alliance that fights for another faction. Then you have to ask for guest invites of guilds of the other side to fight in their ABs to continue raising your preferred title track.
