I know what it is, and I've messed around with it as well. Tried to enchance my armor, but it's too much work for me. I'm using it as I speak to finish mapping Cantha.

It's a personal decision that I don't, that I consider it somewhat cheating (I won't argue this point or impose any judgment on others, it's just a personal opinion). I have GMC, got it legitly.
I also won't use any mods because there's a tiny part of me that thinks one day Anet will wake up and realized they've descended down the slope of allowing mods that are incrementally becoming hacks.
Again, just my personal opinion and won't pass judgment on others who think differently.

I used it for Elona Cartography. Couldn't bother mapping another entire map by grinding edges alone. I have been looking into other mods, but changing my bambi to black doesn't appeal to me.

Never bothered with it, not even sure what it does but after reading this thread, thinking about it. After all it is frustrating having a char with 99.-% and not sure what`s missing.

Ok, I finally tried a few more mods, and I can honestly say, I will never be playing without the "Adrenaline Bars" mod, Dark Glass UI, Critical Hit, Hero Flags, and Spirit Radar.

I use TexMod for Cartography as many people have mentioned. My reason is because I am both unskilled enough nor do I have the patience to scrap every singly zone multiple times

I use for cartography after I get over 97% on my characters... still 'cheating' but makes me feel better.

I might use it when (if) i go fro explorer, dont see so much point in editing armors and stuff if only you will see them. I am however gonna get the 50/80 bars spirit range etc, shoud be helpful

I use it to make funky tweaks just because; pink streaks in my ele's hair, putting Kisai's armor on my ele, pink tigers, completely white Kurzick 15k, silly stuff. And I'm thinking of trying out the pre-sear mod. It's also fun for fixing mixed armor glitches (some of the mixes where the pieces have a bit ol' hole or there's tattoos that just quit for instance). I like being able to try a few of those what if's that occur to me while I'm playing. No one else can see them, true, but I'm not playing this game for everyone else - I play for me. If it amuses me, then I'm happy. 
TexMod is not just about mods that give you an "edge" it's also about being creative and playing with possibilities and even in some cases being artistic.

It looks like there should've been a "I use Texmod for mapping" option, since someone who uses it for that and someone who uses it for "silly funness" (changing armor skins and the like) are very different.

Texmod is a godsend. Beta UI Mod is pretty badass, along with the Hero Flags and Black Paragon Wings mods. Other than that, I don't really have the desire to change too many textures, but I'm sure if I ever get the urge to open Photoshop, I'll probably reskin my spear collection.
Changing the way your UI looks or the skin of a piece of equipment makes you bad at the game?
