Do you ever remake characters, for example if you don't like the face, hair etc.
I know I do. I remade my monk, ranger and warrior because I didn't like the face. They were all lvl 20. Still, I couldn't stop myself.
I'd like to know your opinions and your stories about remade characters.

Squishy ftw
Yup, I made a monk about 8 months ago, rarely played with it until I felt the sudden urge to make a new monk because I didnt liked the face. So ,I deleted the old monk ,made a new one and it has become one of my favorite characters

Only within the first couple of days of playing them. I have self control. I understand the 'ugly face' urge though.

Aye.
This guy (legendary survivor no less, completed all 3 campaings, ...):
was the last one to be replaced by this guy:
I wanted a C1 mesmer again.
(The red haired guy was a replacement for my previous mesmer too. I still keep the red-haired dude to open the free chests and as storage. I just don't "play" him anymore. He's there just for "work". )
And I remade tons of my characters because I didn't like their hair, faces OR I just wanted a legendary survivor.
I LOVE raising up and developing a character. But once it's "done" (at least in my eyes) - I get bored of them easily.

I've had three monks, three necromancers and three elementalists. Now I have just one monk. All of those had completed atleast one campaign and had the most vital elite skills and armour. I'd probably be rich if I had spared all those plats
~ Dan ~
I've only had 1 proper PvE char. I was SOOOO close to remaking him once because, well.. he's er.. bald.
But i'm glad i didn't (had many hours put into him anyway). Just bought vanguard armour and with a bald head i look kinda like Katsumoto from The Last Samurai
If only there was a non-retarded use for a derv and a sword.. my Katana fits perfectly

Yes.
I don't even remember the amount of times I remade my 2nd monk just because I wanted her to be a leg surv and now she is. I even ran her to all the main cities, got heroes, leveld past 20 as a surv, lost it and did it all again. I was that determined. :P
I do remake chars several times before I am sure what I want height, face, colors etc. but that's usually before I start playing.
Currently I have lvl 20 characters of every profession + extra monk and I have NO plans whatsoever to ever again remake a new character. I'm that sick of leveling/running them for now. I'm quite happy with all of them now and even if my assasin, necro and ranger who are on their way to surv don't make it I will not remake them. I did make my 2nd monk because I grew tired of the 1st one but I would still not remake the 1st because I have played her a lot and got her a lot of armor.

I only remake pvp characters, and I hardly ever do that.

I've re-made my monk 4 times now. Same name each time, and with a similar appearance - Priestess of Wisdom. The first two re-makes were basically Pre-Searing-only, designed to smite the catacombs in search for dyes, then go post and dump them off. Then I re-made her a third time to actually play her, and I didn't really like the monk playstyle, so I canned her.
A few months later, I re-made her again as a Factions monk and have kept her since. I think she has a first birthday coming up in a couple of months. Yeesh.
That's the only character I've ever re-rolled, really. Though I have made other characters that I've canned such as my Dervish, a second necro, a second mesmer, and a few Pre characters I never did much with (made it to like level 3 and ditched) while testing out various classes. I now have a nice array of every class (except Dervish), and one perma-pre warrior. I'm happy with them all, I think. Though I am glaring at my sin as a candidate for deletion...

Only if they fail Survivor. Or if I really hate the name.
Crom The Pale
I've tried monking twice, first one completed all of Prophicies and most of Factions, second made it about half way through factions then did half of nightfall then I got really really bored of it and made a Sin, my 3rd attempt at that and the first one to actually reach lvl 20.
I replaced my ele that had completed all of proph with a ranger that completed all of proph and factions then got replaced with an ele that beat nightfall.
I replaced my first war with another, but not right away, I was actually playing 2 wars for the longest time, both completed all of prophicies and only when I finally got up the nerve to change my secondary(fearing the loss of my lvl 20 elder wolf) did I realize I only needed one war...and then I dumped the wolf one and kept Crom, just because I like the name better

Aerial Assault
Remade my Necro, because I misspelled part of her name wrong. Yes, it bothered me that much.
Currently contemplating on remaking my War , Mes, and Monk just because the Factions' choices for faces is THAT much better than Prophecies (wtb GW hairstylist-plastic surgeon plz plz). Only problem is, do I really want to salvage their FoW armors?

Never.
I even made sure to get Legendary Survivor on my first try on my newly made Ranger. Four days of very repetitive farming, but I never died once.

Had a KoaBD mesmer named Nomad Telyan (3 prots and 2 gmc's), which i had before the title updates, when it was still awesome to have.
When the title updates came out, and there was no value in the KoaBD title anymore, i rage-deleted him...
So later i decided to start my own storyline with my chars. So i remade my mesmer with same face and hair, but grey hair to make him look a bit older and named him 'Emperor Telyan'
Dont use him that much anymore though

I've remade a LOT of characters. Usually to get that perfect face/hair. But if I do, they're usually under level 10.
Not to mention that when I got the game originally, I made and deleted a lot of characters, in order to test most of the classes, to see what appealed to me the most.

I don't understand all this nonsense about KoaBD not being "worth squat." Almost every town I go into, I'll mouse-over players to see who has what title, simply because I am curious (might as well put that pointer to use, seeing as I use auto-run 99% of the time). You know what titles I see the most on average? Stuff like: Rank 1 Norn, Rank 3 Kurzick, Sunspear General (7), or my all-time favorite: Canthan/Tyrian/Elona Explorer (60%). Over half of players either don't have a title, or don't even bother to show one. KoaBD is just that; it's still sort of a big deal, its just not the end-all title it shouldn't have been in the first place. I still get a tad surprised to see KoaBD players. |
But ye, i do still think its nice when someone has the title. And as the game is now it doesnt really matter whether you can get in a group or not, since groups arent really needed for much anymore. But hopefully you understand my point about the difference a koabd title had then, to having it now.

I dropped the warrior I started before leaving presearing because I was bored with the class.
Since it takes me around 15 min to decide what the character looks like and anything up to a couple of hours to decide on a name I seldom delete for those reasons.
I have deleted and changed the sex of a character because I hated the dance emote though.

Eles are fortunate I like them as much as I do. Or else they'd never exist for more than five minutes, due to the horrible dance emote for female eles.
Aera Lure
I've remade some characters. Like some others, it was mostly to tweak hair and/or face, but only within the first day or two.
As it stands I have grown tired of a couple hair choices over time and would even consider looking at different face options for another character from one of the new chapters, but they are too far developed and established now to do so. *cough*Stylist*cough*

I've wanted to re-do my ranger because I made my ranger a female (with a crumby hairdo to boot) and wished I'd made a male ranger. I just...can't....seem....to....delete....her. My style of gameplay is probably slower than most people so it would take more time than I care to at this point to redo a ranger. Perhaps in time I will become bored enough to do this, but that probably won't happen.
Konrow
I used to remake a lot but then i saw i wasn't getting anywhere so now i make sure i stick to a character and set certain goals for everyone. Of course i'd happily remake a few of my characters to make them look better and whatnot, but i feel as if i've put too much work in them and 90% of my characters are over a year old now.
chowmein69
ive done it alot of times
Vinraith
Prior to the introduction of birthday minis I was a remake addict, no question. These days I limit myself to remaking characters that are less than level 20 (of which I usually only have one).
Snow Bunny
I've remade my monk, warrior, ranger, necro, mesmer.
All so that they had r3 survivor.
All so that they had r3 survivor.

For the "looks" aspect, I may remake new chars several times at the very beginning - make the char, start the tutorial, examine the char closely to see if there's something about him/her that doesn't look right, then delete and remake if that's the case until I'm staisfied. Usually it's only merely a matter of hair color or sometimes the hairstyle itself. (The ambient lighting in the char creation screens isn't always indicative of the general lighting in the game itself - what might look good there doesn't always look the same in-game; I've always found that kind of annoying.) I might also try various spellings of a name to see what's more easily readable.
Once I've got the char set then, no, I won't remake it past that point.

Then with Nightfall everyone had Sunspear General or Lightbringer.
Now, it's Delver, Slayer, etc.
Having max is still kind of a big deal.
