The worst ways for you & party to die
Tender Wolf
So I was doing Zen Daijun (I always die unless I'm not from Cantha) and I got to thinking, there are so many ways to die in this game and some are downright terrible. Here are the worst ways to die (by yourself or with a party) in my opinion:
AoE damage that wipes out the whole party in nearly one strike
AoE that spreads (disease and miasma)
Running for a res shrine or an exit portal and rubberbanding back into a mob
And probably more that I can't think of yet. hehe

Failing a mission/quest/area because an NPC got killed that wasn't supposed to.
That is the BEST way to die

Skirting around a large mob or otherwise undesired conflict, and having everyone make it but one person.
And that one person
Runs back to the party
With all the aggro still behind him
Dooming you all due to his cowardice
It's like standing by helpless watching your death approach calmly.

He dashes infront of us...activates heart of shadow... and warps into the middle of the nearby mob... he does viper defense and it moves him into aggro range of the other mob triggering them both... then wtf doe he do? Activates his tanking shit and starts walking towards us >.>
Death my shadow steps >.>
1 up and 2 down
Worst way has to be when someone goes and leroys into a mob and then runs back to his party and gets everyone killed.

Worst way to die is when you and the others already dead have the only res's.
Total party wipe when a NPC dies is never a good thing.
Factions + Aflicted + Triple chop = instant death for a war.

yeah, those instadeath sliver deaths by shiroken elementalists is rough, though that's why you just dont sit near them
the most aggravating deaths are by noobs who don't understand pulling or patrols or bad aggro, though this generally can be eliminated by not pugging (which I'm pretty much at)
for me, the worst party wipe was when ToPK was new, and someone couldn't resist aggroing at the beginning of the last level and wiping the party, and this is when orders / bp wasn't being used, and it took 2.5 hours to get to that point

Worst wipe situation for me is getting his in the back by a group of monsters sneaking up from behind while the party's focusing on a group in front. That happened to me earlier this evening in Sephiroth's Garden (that burning area in Sacnoth Valley) when our point man decided to leroy from one group to the next in the most stunning kamikaze style possible.
I'll never get those burn marks out of my armor

When your party wipes... and resurrects at a shrine covered with enemies.
Thus starting a chain of deaths that ends up getting you booted out of the area.

On topic, as I mentioned on another thread it was quite shocking to be near wiped in one hit from Rocktail.
I was vanquishing Talmark Wilderness the other day as well- party of 7 inseparable HM imps with rodgort's invocation = epic fail. 240 aoe damage, each- in rapid succession.

Well, one of the most embarassing was in Random Arenas, our team was staying close to make sure "You're All Alone!" that a warrior was using didn't work. We scooted up against a wall, and their two melee's trapped the southern end. The other two (one being a spirit spammer, the other a fire elementalist) quickly came in from the north, spammed a spirit, and we were boxed. We then hit good old Savannah Heat, Searing Heat, and Tenai's Heat. GG.

An NPC that you have no control over leeroying everything in sight (gives Rurik a dirty stare). Talk about poor design.

Before an update which changed this, was doing bloodstone caves HM, on the 2nd level as soon as you passed a res shrine about 20-25 incubus would drop down all at once. 10ish touch necros with 20 blood magic, 10ish air eles with spammable knockdowns and blind, and a few wars left over. We got caught completely be surprise and died almost instantly, ontop of the shrine, and dp-ed out after ressing a few times.
An True Hero
when you're 10,000 exp points away from legendary survivor and lag from anet's server side causes the game to freeze while you run into a mob of roaring ethers is a pretty shitty way to die imo

The worst way to "die"
7 Party members die.
1 party member survives.
This party member does not have rez.
Honestly the worst way evar to "die".

I hate it when u sacrifice yourself so the monk can get away only to find out the monk only brought a sig and they used it on the ONE guy in in your party who doesn't have res.
another way that sux to die is when ur the monk and ur healing the "tank" and they just up and leave as soon as they start to take damage leaving the monsters to get you the vulnerable little monk

worst way to die in my experience is
someone in the team who can't keep their mouth shut starts a keyboard typing fest/fight with the monk regarding which way and what enemy to kill first, they both go back and forth typing insults at each other, while the rest of the team goes dead and the monk rage quit.... and the party took you half an hour to find...

But anyway, /seconded that catapult death in GvG is the WORST

I love scrimmaging on maps with catapults. Especially when my moron teammates sit right on top of their gate and yell at me when the catapult lands near the gate
I love dying by catapult for reasons like that

Wa/Mo anything anywhere - near assured party wipe. So... that's my worst way. When you saw it coming before you even left town, but you left with them anyway...

There's so many terrible ways... GWEN boulders, catapults, massive AoE damage, terrible NPC aggroing, you name it.
But my money's on one of two ways:
In NF, having a full NPC party and accidentally leaving your Junundu Wurm in the middle of a poisoned area, then watching your NPCs follow suit.
Outside of Gunther's, having the quest active that spawns a huge horde of low lvl Charr, then trying it on HM. Sooooo many meteor showers... Oh god...

I was doing Unwaking waters with a pug, two monks in the party, but I quickly realised the team was dying off pretty quickly, and I wasn't even getting healed. Upon inquiring, I learned that both of the monks were SMITING. Maybe I should have asked before hand, but it's been so long since I've seen a smiter, I assumed they were extinct.
It was pretty amusing watching every single member of the party leave once they said it though.

I once had to nip out to the shops and one thing led to another so as around 5 hours passed i came back to see my character surrounded by hundreds of minions. I had left my elementalist stood next to a portal /res shrine in Scoundrel's Rise and was killed over and over again for about 5 hours by some Grasping Ghoul /Mergoyle and Zombie Warlock's.
I was not amused, plus this was back when there was no limit on minions that was my first ever death leveling experience

i still go by "no respect, no protect"
an 11 year old called me about 2 different things in 100 different variations each (i counted because it was becoming entertaining after about the 60th). So I told the party "if this kid isn't going to leave/shut-up i'm just not going to heal. i shouldn't have to put up with this little pre-pubescent brat talking smack about me when i said nothing. So tell him to shut-up, and have him follow through with it, or i'm not doing anything from here on out."
good thing that mission was THK
Best way to die:
an Amo... A/Mo with the sin emo hair-style thinking he is oh-so-cool then pops mending and healing breeze and attempts to "tank" better than a wammo (which is not much better) AFTER he shadowsteps into a mob without making sure all the high-energy users are ready.
