So I was doing Zen Daijun (I always die unless I'm not from Cantha) and I got to thinking, there are so many ways to die in this game and some are downright terrible. Here are the worst ways to die (by yourself or with a party) in my opinion:
AoE damage that wipes out the whole party in nearly one strike
AoE that spreads (disease and miasma)
Running for a res shrine or an exit portal and rubberbanding back into a mob
And probably more that I can't think of yet. hehe
The worst ways for you & party to die

yeah, those instadeath sliver deaths by shiroken elementalists is rough, though that's why you just dont sit near them
the most aggravating deaths are by noobs who don't understand pulling or patrols or bad aggro, though this generally can be eliminated by not pugging (which I'm pretty much at)
for me, the worst party wipe was when ToPK was new, and someone couldn't resist aggroing at the beginning of the last level and wiping the party, and this is when orders / bp wasn't being used, and it took 2.5 hours to get to that point

Worst wipe situation for me is getting his in the back by a group of monsters sneaking up from behind while the party's focusing on a group in front. That happened to me earlier this evening in Sephiroth's Garden (that burning area in Sacnoth Valley) when our point man decided to leroy from one group to the next in the most stunning kamikaze style possible.
I'll never get those burn marks out of my armor

On topic, as I mentioned on another thread it was quite shocking to be near wiped in one hit from Rocktail.
I was vanquishing Talmark Wilderness the other day as well- party of 7 inseparable HM imps with rodgort's invocation = epic fail. 240 aoe damage, each- in rapid succession.
Well, one of the most embarassing was in Random Arenas, our team was staying close to make sure "You're All Alone!" that a warrior was using didn't work. We scooted up against a wall, and their two melee's trapped the southern end. The other two (one being a spirit spammer, the other a fire elementalist) quickly came in from the north, spammed a spirit, and we were boxed. We then hit good old Savannah Heat, Searing Heat, and Tenai's Heat. GG.
