giving up everything you worked on for gw2?
Your Lucky I Heal
so my friends were talking and it said that in gw2 you cant proceed with your character from the series (prophicies, factions, nightfall). so im just wondering for people who had there characters from the very begining give them up for gw 2?
Zinger314
I know one thing I can't give up: beating the dead horse!
You can't continue your GW1 characters because the servers between GW1 and GW2 would be incompatable. That's what the Hall of Monuments is for (which failed miserably).

Lady Raenef
Well, Hall of Monuments is supposed to preserve them, but since Arenanet simply won't give us a way to change facial features whenever we please, I don't mind, because I tried to make my character seem realistic. Ponytails on women just didn't work back in the day, unless pinned up, like mine is. I'd kill a margonite to get long hair on her, but that simply won't happen. Hair grows, Anet! I hope you know that! Let me give her long hair!
Jumping Is Uselss
I would not care, to me GW2 feels like a new game. Starting off fresh would be nice.
pamelf
I'll probably keep playing both.
CyberNigma
I don't plan on moving to GW2 so I'l definitely still be playing my GW characters as an alternative to whatever else I'm playing a that time.
chowmein69
i want to play gw 2 to try a different game since all i play is GW :P
shoyon456
Personally, considering GW2 is such a long ways off, its impossible to tell.
Quite honestly, I probably will be so far off GW that I won't even care that GW2 comes out whenever it does.
And yeah, I woulda been interested in GW2 if anet hadnt made the HoM such a mess. I could go on in my ranting, but this isn't supposed to be that kind of thread :P

What a fresh, new concern! Here, you've earned it:
NoPantsRepublic
your name should be "you're," not "your"
With that established, I advise you to recreate your character in GW2 regardless of your previous accomplishments in GW1 so that I won't have to endure your grammatically incorrect name every again, assuming that you will be able to carry over your GW1 characters from GW2, which you won't.

I'd gladly give it all up for a fresh start. If there was one thing I'd like to carry over it would be titles, but I could care less about gold, items and armor. Hall of Monuments doesn't interest me at all, so if their idea of title carryovers is HoM only, even titles won't concern me.

Did Guild Wars feel like work to you? Personally, I thought it was a video game.

Some people have to remind themselves that this is just a game, and a game is meant to be entertainment; fun.

Fresher start the better. I never wanted any carry-over and wish they hadn't even done the HoM thing - I imagine it's just going to lead to loads of people running around with a "Yep, they've had my soul for some time" emote.
Shadowspawn X
I hope they start GW2 very soon, I have 3 characters and one has 27 maxed titles and the secondaries have only 10 maxed titles, there is not much for me to do in the game so I don't play very much anymore. However I tried to break into pvp and the people are mean and way too much time LFG in HA so I dont think I can get a tiger so I gave up at r7. A new start will be good.

Guild Wars 2 is set 250 years into the future of the world... No res shrine or healing skill can keep a person youthful, let alone alive for TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY BLOODY YEARS!!!

The only thing I love from GW1 enough to want to take to GW2 is Thunderfist Brass Knuckles. Not because they're special, but because I had so much fun running through that cave with Kilroy knocking dudes out.

I didn't "work on" anything, I played (and quite enjoyed) a game, and will continue to do so for as long as it's fun. Games aren't about accumulating virtual "stuff," they're about having a good time. If you want to take it all with you, you're doing it wrong.
All that said, when I get tired of GW1 I'll probably be done with the Guild Wars franchise. Everything I've heard about GW2 just sounds too MMO to me.

Characters have no value to me besides the time I put into them while playing. If I don't play the game, they're worthless, and I won't care. It's only when I played the game a lot that I actually thought titles and such mattered.
It's not like anything you grind in Guild Wars really matters - to the game or to anyone else.

In GW2 I expect to be playing a Charr and taking every chance I can get to eat humans.
-tasty- [pass the hoisin sauce please, Gwen's descendants could use a little seasoning]
So...
Not sure there will be much I'll need to carry over anyway.
Everyone else will be playing those hentai-looking pod people and doing naked line dancing, so... it'll be a fresh start all around.

I am looking for a different Game experience,(I love G.W. and will continue to play it) but it's time to play some thing new. As for my Characters , 250 years later they must be dust at this point. Hey there are always there decedents to play with.
AuraofMana
I probably won't be getting into GW2. By the time it comes out, SC 2 will already have been out a year (and you know how long ppl played SC for). Plus, I smell D3 in the air.
The obnoxious title grinding in GW is about the only thing you can do after beating the game for the 10th time. It feels like playing Everquest, except you don't get to see your integer raised, which is even WORSE.

As soon as anyone starts seeing their achievements in GW als 'working' for it, you seriously have to wonder what it is you really want in this game.

I love fresh starts. It will feel like being reborn with all the knowledge from the previous life still intact, and I've been guaranteed to keep the most valuable asset of my character which is her name, everything else can burn to ashes
And hey, green hentai pixies, what is there not to love

as long as i can keep the name, i dont care what u can bring in gw2 and what u cannot. if it's as fun as gw2 i'll be there

Me, I'm really looking forward to a fresh start. I get to keep the names and that's enough for me.

Question:
Why does all of our characters have to have babies?

Giving up an old account is a hard thing to do lol! I still access my old diablo 2 LOD accounts every month just to make sure they don't get deleted. Somehow it feels like the guy pressing the button in the hatch in the first season of Lost... Is it reall necessary? Would I regret it that much when the accounts seize to exist? Letting go is a soo hard...

But like some people are saying, I don't really care if anything carries over. New game, new characters, new fun. Personally I can't wait

Obviously your point is slightly lost as your speeling is a tad shut.
On topic - would like my main chars to carry over - if not then no biggy - two games to play!!!
