Mission Pack open access for ALL. NO WEAPONS

Don't want people to think you're 13? Capital letters and not using abbreviations like "smth" could help. My points about everything else still stands. If anyone seriously wasn't able to scratch together the cash for BMP in the time ANet gave, maybe they should think about cheaper forms of recreation.
And yeah, for my argument the tengu mask and mission pack pretty much are the same. They're limited time optional bonuses that are no longer available, and threads still pop up with people asking for them to be reissued, which isn't going to happen.

i would send you my autobiography but you are not really interested right
you only want to nag like most of the people here
bdw i have never said it should be given for free
and i think the op qualified for the bmp
most of those who didn't actually want to buy it

They should just have promoted the BMP also through the local resellers and such. That I could have lived with. But now it's like they just want you to only use their ingame shop to download the digital versions of the game with some bonus included.
The thing is that they want to do this because they make more money of their digital downloads instead of all the things that come around the corner when shipping and reselling their games. Digital download delivers them more money then the physical versions, thats just the way it is. They likely get more money off the digital GWEN + BMP then the whole physical version alltogether. Else they could've also included the BMP with the physical version of GWEN.
I bet this was a test for things to come when GW2 arrives. Society is also more and more going towards digital downloads also, so be prepared. It's either a physical version or a digital download with (not likely) extra ingame stuff from here on.

It took a lot of effort to make the BMP.
Sorrow's Furnace and the Real of Anguish were 'delayed' parts, not 'extras for free'. We paid them by paying Prophecies and Nightfall.
Even the events are available only for those who own certain campaigns.

I don't see this as a leap of the mind, but may be a bit far-fetched. But I don't care if they bend the rules (people don't mind in general if it's beneficial to a lot of people) to make the BMP available, as long as it's not free and possibly with some sort of limitation (no or limited access to weapons).

ArenaNet spent time developing this extra content and you expect them to give it away for free?
I believe there would not be another "Sorrow's Furnace" in Guild Wars.
One does not deserve access to any new content if one is not willing to fork out the moolah for it.

I've seen many people mentioning various reasons why the BMP is good (great historical moments of GW, play legends, exclusive uber skills, great scenarios, gold weapons, etc.). But overall I've got the impression that the only reason people mention for justifying the BMP not being "opened" (for a lack of a better word) is "It would hurt my feelings/pride" (no offense, I'm trying to capture what I read and I may have read some things wrong, apologies if it's the case!).

But if they reopen that, then people are going to start demanding re-issued Collector's Editions. Or festival hat packs. Or any of a number of things ANet's repeatedly told us we can't get if we don't already have. And honestly? I'd be among them.

This is not a friendly petition. Denigrating a company for a marketing promotion, accusing them of failing to live up to their principles, and presenting a grasp for freebies in the guise of a "friendly petition" is nonsense. Pretending there are no option for purchase is disingenuous and untruthful. We are not a charity. On a dollar-per-dollar basis, we give more to our players than any other company I can think of. But asking us to spend months in production on a project like the BMP and then give it away as some kind of good will gesture is unrealistic. Your picking selective anecdotes to back up a "the sky is falling" scenario, as if to imply--even state--that we must start giving handouts to retain a diminished community is morally and philosophically wrong. (It is also factually wrong, for the community is not diminished at all, as game concurrency proves.) You state ArenaNet is adored by gamers, and suggest that this is because we offer fee-free gaming. You're right, that is a major factor. But we won't be able to offer fee-free gaming, or any sort of gaming at all, if we don't continue to sell games. We intend to sustain our games by doing what we can to encourage people to purchase our products, just as any other company does, from General Motors to Betty Crocker to Geico. Promotions, like the BMP promotion, are part of the effort to sell games. And "sell" here--while it has four letters--is not a nasty word! There were many options to make the qualifying purchase. Some did not choose to make a purchase; that's perfectly ok. But this is a "I want to have my cake and eat it too" situation. For what this says is, "I don't support you, but I demand you support me in two ways: With normal game support through free servers, website content, contests, community relations, support and more, plus I want whatever else you do as a freebie, too." Marketing and sales are the lifeblood of our continued health. They pay for our ability to continue to support Guild Wars as well as to develop future products. Don't for a minute suggest there is something wrong in our presenting such a promotion. Don't for a minute suggest that someone's failure to acquire the pack is in some way our shortcoming, or a failure of our company to uphold some sort of heart-set company mission statement. |

Can we please get rid of this thread? Tough luck, I wanted to kick Hitler in the nuts, but I can't, and you don't see me complaining about it.
You get a case, we get bonus missions. Anet didn't just pop out randomly and said "okay you guys that preordered get this!" They told everyone that they can get it if they preordered the game, but you chose not to. Your fault.
And like I said before, it's NOT about the weapons, I could care less about them. I enjoyed the bonus pack, and for people like you to think it's all about the silly weapons, well... makes me sick.
You chose a worthless case, you fault. Why should you receive it because you made the wrong decision

Thanks for posting that Mineria. It put it perfectly. It was unfortunate for the people who couldn't source credit cards, however for the people who chose a box over the BMP, but from the beginning it was known that for many it would be a choice. I personally bought my GWEN box retail, and bought 2 character slots and the GOTY upgrade to qualify for the BMP. Extra character slots can always be used, and even if I don't use them immediately at least I didn't expect Anet to just hand me free content without me meeting the demands of their promotion.
I would not be averse to Anet running the promotion again now that there is more content to purchase from the online store (i.e. skill packs). Maybe they can think about doing that since they would still be getting online revenue, but quite simply, those that couldn't be bothered or chose not to fulfill the terms of the promotion in the alotted time frame have only themselves to blame, and have absolutely no rights to demand the content now.

Interesting read. Far more forceful that her replies on the wiki.

The thing is that it's just not possible for people to choose between an extra (physical content) and an extra (BMP). It's a win-win-situation which you will always lose.
Lots of people's comments actually make perfect sence and some BMP owners that hang out here on the forums are getting a little towards the Gollum syndrome.

To all positng in these various threads that you are loyal/Devoted/playing since beta, this promotion wasn't about that. It was about spending 29$ in the on-line store during the months the promotion was running-period.
To all posting that it wouldn't hurt Anet as a company to realease these missions for sale, I say, yes it would. Then all of us who believed them when they said that this was a LIMITED promotion would feel cheated and be less likely to participate in the next promotion that they offer.
To all posting that you are being prevented from accessing essential lore, you really aren't. These missions don't really reveal anything that we didn't already know from playing the games. It's more about HOW those things happened. Example- Master Togo ended the Tengu Wars. We already knew that from playing Factions. The BMP just lets us see how it happened.
To all of you who have legitimate reasons that you couldn't access the BMP, I'm sorry. I honestly hope things will work out better for you on the next promotion.
To all of you who are whining now that you regret that you CHOSE not to participate- think twice next time.

Again ill say it- like every other QQ Thread regarding the BMP,
boohoo, you had your chance, tough luck. i really feel sorry for A-net, they announced for ages, seriously how much more advertising do you need? they want people to use the online store...they didn't want to "reward loyal customers" - for those who say they are loyal - why did you buy the boxed version then if you knew this was on offer?, for those who had legitimate reasons for not being able to qualify - truly sorry, better luck next time...as for the others, do your business studies, and then come back.

Wow, are you stupid? Like honesitly ARE YOU A RETARD?
Arena Net has developed an amazing product with some of the best animations, graphics, skins, audio and lore in the game and you expect them not to sell it? You expect them to screw over everyone who purchased it and give it to you for free? Do you lack basic buisness skills?
Arena Net has a hot product that is in high demand. They are the only ones who can sell it. Of course they are going it sell it, and make a crapload of money. I'm sure Arena Net is going to say no we don't want to make thousands of dollars off our product, let's give it away for free thanks to this guys thread on gwguru.
EPIC FAIL!

Sell it in the ONLINE store at some point in time YES, but just open it, NO WAY.
It was developed to promote the ONLINE store, so the only way to get it should be through the ONLINE store.

I disagree wholeheartedly with this. And no. I didn't get the BMP. I didn't spend the 29.99. Didn't want anything from the online store.
Why can't people get it through their skulls that it was a SALES PROMOTION. Like all the other examples given. "Buy a large pizza on Monday and get free breadsticks!" "Okay, it's Wednesday, I WANT MY BREADSTICKS. For free! Okay, you can leave out the dipping sauce. GIMME MY BREADSTICKS." "...." (Pizza=29.99 purchase; Breadsticks=BMP; Dipping sauce=weapons)
Ugh. Seriously guys! It was a LIMITED TIME OFFER. "But...but...I want it after the time ran out!" Tough luck, like others have said, you had THREE MONTHS WARNING. >_< Jeez.

Like so many before me...
You have had your chance to get it from the online store.
Temporary Promotions means just that.
No need to come back afterwards and nag your ass off just so you could get it as well.
Alwyas the same with the ones who didn't get it or didn't need to get it in the first place (OK there are exceptions) but for the bigger crowd this is a fact.

The point of the BMP was to earn it by spending so much on the online store. Then you get access to the missions and the weapons. The people who earned it will be very angry if Anet suddenly gave it to everyone for free even without the weapons.

What's so special about the weapons so others can't have them in a lot of people's eyes? They're just a bunch of random weapons with nice skins.
Anet should just do the special offer again with some other items in the ingame shop. They happy, we happy.

I would pay for it, if they offered the thing as a stand alone item in store for around £2.99 - £5.00. But I down-right refused to pay £29.99 in the store just to get access to the BMP for free.
I want my copy of GWEN in a nice box and I didnt want to pay more online just get 4 extra missions and some weapons. Offer it as a stand alone item instore and ill buy it for a cheap price.

Option A - Never offer the BMP again
Pros:
(Anet) - The next time a promo like this is offered, participation will be much higher.
(Players) - Players who got the BMP have access to great content, and permanently exclusive, great looking weapons.
Cons:
(Anet) - No further revenue is possible from BMP.
(Players) - Players who didn't get BMP for legit reasons permanently sealed off from fantastic (albeit brief) content and great looking weapon skins.
Option B - Offer the game for $5-$20 from in game store in several months.
Pros:
(Anet) - Extracts more revenue from BMP.
(Players) - Players who missed out first time get access to content and weapons.
Cons:
(Anet) - More players will take a "wait and see" approach to future promotions.
(Players) - The rarity and coolness of BMP weapons will be significantly reduced for those who qualified for the original promotion. The weapons market will take a further hit, and the incentive to quest and do high-end dungeons will be reduced.
Option C - Mission Pack at No cost to all players, but no weapons for those who missed 1st offer.
Pros:
(Anet) - ?
(Players) - Players who didn't qualify for BMP get missions and great content. Players who did qualify for BMP get continued exclusivity of rare weapons. Weapon trading market not further hurt.
Cons:
(Anet) - No further revenue from BMP. Reduced incentive for people to participate in future promotions as main content will be assumed to become eventually available for free.
(Players) - Cool skins still unavailable for those who didn't participate in initial offering.
First off, I have the BMP, so the greedy part of me wants to keep the rarity of my acquisition. I tried to be objective about the pros and cons of this suggestion versus the other main options out there.
My conclusion is that although I think the OP's suggestion (option C) is the best overall idea for the most number of players, there is really no benefit in it for Anet. A moderately less-agitated player base only does Anet so much good.
On balance, I still think option B makes the most sense - although it is far from perfect.

I'm all for Option B.
The promo was for a free BMP, provided conditions were met.
In a few months they can sell a non-promotional BMP in the store for, get this: not free.
Heehee.
I'd buy that for a dollar. Or twelve. Twelve ninety-nine. $12.99, yeah.

Anything and everything you do will have people crying and whining.
Rerelease it with no Weapons: People will complain about not getting a reward. Besides, these missions aren't very fun at all, but thats just me.Imho, If theres no reward, theres no point in wasting time on the mission.
Rerelease it for a fee: People will just end up complaining that the people who buy the BMP later end up paying for it, and the people who bought it first got it for free. Thus, the late-buyers have the arguement that they had to pay for something that should be free. (And for the people who argue that buying 29.99 worth of character slots doesnt make it "free," you got 3 character slots, the BMP just came with them.)
Never Rerelease it: People complain that they didnt get it. Simple as that. It was a PROMOTION. It's like saying "Hey! I missed a sale on this car! The person who bought it during the sale got $2000 off, give me $2000!" It's not how businesses run. Anet wants to make money, not give it away.
Just my opinion, just don't respond with YOU STUPID NUB...etc.etc.
