Bah, after it working this morning, ( thanks Rah ) the game is not responding again, it would point to this being an exclusive problem to BT customers.

I'm with BT, same problem, can't go past character select screen, hope BT sort this out quickly.
Reset homehub twice, doesn't help at all, BT have the worst costumer support ever so not even going to bother trying.

I'm still having this problem. <- Another BT victim.

I tired GW this morning, and it looked fine - so I was quite excited about actually being able to play tonight. Imagine my disappointment when I came back to see the problem had returned. I opened a support ticket with BT yesterday, and I have heard jack off them about it.

Sort it out, BT.

BT sem to be having a problem at telehouse. It could possibly be a peering issue with whoever they connect to to make the hop across the channel.

I have raised asupport call with BT and if anyone else wants to do the same try to link your call to BT call ref vol011-6811799277. Showing this isnt just a single user issue may stir them into motion.

my network traces show my last hop to the guild wars web server at:

62.6.201.118 40ms 38ms 39ms TTL:245 (core1-pos9-0.telehouse.ukcore.bt.net ok)

and after this there is no response which to me suggests that an ACL in in pace on the next upstream router, the routing table or arp entries on the BT router are screwed and packets are not being passed to the next router in the link or that BT have a peering issue if the next router is not owned by BT.

hope this helps and looking forward to seeing some of you ingame

if i was a betting man I would bet that its a corrupted routing table on a BT router or on the next router after the one I mention in my previous post.

easily sorted out but getting BT to admit its a problem with their kit is the tricksey bit

even harder is getting an upstream provider to admit its a problem if its not BTs router...

Hi there

Having come home today after an arduous day at work, was looking forward to adventuring around my favourite world when I couldn't login. Error code 58 and 05. So i came straight to here to see if anyone else was experiencing problems. I'm with BT as well.

After reading through the posts, decided to reset my router. Also, a few months ago, BT sent me another router (they were upgrading all the customer routers) but I only replaced the filter. Tried logging on to www.guildwars.com and came up right away, then logged in ok after that.

I don't know if this was just luck or the more up-to-date filter worked. Only time will tell I guess.

So if any of you were sent updated equipment from BT, try the filter first.

Hope this helps and God save us all lol

I think it's time to kick BT down the stairs and go with another provider.

Same problem here. I'm on BT and using Netgear router. Been having this problem for about 3 days now. Not been able to access guild wars main site, guild wars wiki or the game ( can get to character selection screen). I would give BT a call but they have a real bad customer service, they persist on telling me the problem is a fault with me. I suppose that what happens when you have a uk company but host their call centres in Bombay.

I've reported my problem here, and just left a note to chase my other support ticket that I raised yesterday. I've even gone so far as to link to this thread emphasising that the problem is not at my end, but theirs. If enough peope raise tickets/call up about this, they'll have to admit that it's their problem. And hopefully get up off their arses and fix it.

If your connection is stillworking: hi could you do me a favour and post up the results of a traceroute from your machine so i can look at the routes teh various packets are taking?

remove the first 4 lines from the output so it doesnt show your IP address

if you are not sure how to do this:

go to a command prompt (start ---> run--->cmd <enter> or windows symbol ---->start search ---> cmd <enter>

type tracert www.guildwars.com > c:\trace.txt

open the results in notepad and then copy and paste.

then I can compare teh results you are getting to the other traces I have done.

it should look something like this:

Mine's timing out on Telehouse to - core1-pos1-0-0.telehouse.ukcore.bt.net 62.6.201.82 after the 10th hop.

I've tried resetting my router, and no joy.

Hey!

I have contacted BT, and I have been able to fix mine. Here is what all BT customers need to do:

Disconnect and then reconnect your internet connection, restart any modems and routers you may have and clear all of your private data on your PC (cache etc.).

Fixed it for me, it is something to do with an update a few days ago to all of the telephone lines in the UK (new software on the severs), restarting everything seems to put your PC into sync with it.

BT have appologized publicly for this problem (thats what they told me) however I cant seem to find it anywhere lol. Feel free to contact me if you need any more help

Guys, cut BT some slack here. This whole thread is full of "Oh god, how crap BT are - I wanna new IP" etc., etc.

When it comes down to it, when was the last time BT failed to connect you? How often does this happen?

Seldom to never is the answer. For all their failings, BT are one of the best internet providers in Britain. Thay're not the cheapest or the fastest but they are reliable.

For the record, I'm with BT too and I also lost all connections to the guildwars.com domain. It sucks, but it's temporary. Weather the storm, learn and move on.

(Also for the record - I don't work for BT! I work for a crappo train service provider. Feel free to rant about LUL )

Yeah, i am currently on hold as type this, to yet another department in Bombay,i have been passed down through 4 operators just trying to get hold of BT's internet support I have had enough of thier RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOed up bullshit excuse for customer support they are a RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing joke.
Will run a trace in a bit, i have just flagged the support website on this thanks to the link Lyger posted. I will let you guys know if i get any joy from this bunch of dickheads

Edit. Have just finished on the phone to 'technical support' which is a contradiction in terms, after trying twice to gain remote access to my machine the connection failed, thier answer to this problem is that , they know nothing about it as yet and cannot conduct further tests into it until they recieve official confirmation. So i guess we just have to wait and see.
I cant give BT anymore slack Snograt i have cut them so much slack in the last twelve months it is beyond belief, for me anyway this is the straw that broke the camels back.

Same problem here have contacted BT as well using the link above and have also quoted the same reference number. The incident reference I got is 071206-005171 if anyone wants to join the club. I have also contacted the support team via anet [from work, as I can't connect to that either at home]. So hopefully something will happen soon.

I've just had my line up and running today. I'm with sky as my ISP. Last i checked i think they were using BT lines for telephony and broadband connections.
Logged on to guildwars.com a couple times today without problems. Then I play GW for a bit hit a series of HUGE lag spikes (so big that I'm still in it after a reconnect). Then I get a 007. Ping and FPS are all over the place and now I can't get on to guildwars.com at all.

my tracert result isn't very long either:

I've tried restarting computer, router clearing cache etc and no luck.

I'm not even gonna try customer services. for one, because they're all at home now and for two because I don't want to end up shouting at some poor desk jockey with a britney mic just because I'm annoyed at something (s)he couldn't help with if (s)he tried.
