Are Zaishen Keys Worth it

Do you think that zaishen keys are worth buying, when you can waste a lot of balthzar faction or money on a waste of items coming from the chest. Many people have used 20 or more keys and came up with half way decent items. Should a-net increase the chance of better items coming from the chest, somewhat like hoh drops, would it also boost the economy of guild wars?

My best drop so far is a req. 9 Air Staff. I think I've opened it approximately 100 times.

They are worth it to the same extent that any other chest is worth it. Which is, not at all worth it. But for some bizarre reason many people use lockpicks etc. anyhow even though they are not worth it. So I don't see why Zaishen chests not being worth it would change that trend.

No. Spent over 200k on keys. Best item = r9 mursaat hornbow. All the rest was nice merchant food.

I'm at UAX. The only PvP I enjoy is AB, meaning the tournament tokens are useless to me. So I don't have anything else to spend my Balth on.
It only takes about 30 seconds to grab a key and open the chest.

afaik, Zaizhen keys are FREE!, I just play PvP as normal, and sometimes go and get some free drops.

Not worth it imo, even at uax, since there's basically a 5k opportunity cost every time you open it. From the reward points I had I opened it 40 times (200k I could have had from selling keys), got one shield worth about 15k. Chances are I will keep opening the damn thing, but no I don't think it's a good idea. Not unless the price drops a lot per key that is.

Well, if they improved the frequency of ultra-rare drops, then it wouldn't be such a clear cut decision for me to sell all my keys for 4k a pop.

Right now, I think that most sample sets are suspect because no one is accurately tracking their Zaishen drops. Once anyone presents a compelling sample set, and for me, that would be in the realm of a thousand used keys without any excluded chest openings, then you could make a stronger judgment of an appropriate market value for the Zaishen key. If it helps, I'm trying to develop this data right now, but I don't earn many reward points from ATs or Xunlai, and I do a lot of screwing around in PvP, so I'm only earning anywhere from 3 to 10 keys a day off balt faction. I'll post again for every sample of 50 keys that I have.

Increasing the chances for rare drops would have opposite effect - stop rares from being rare and further crapify their value. The key prices would stay unchanged.

I'd say it is worth it if you understand it is a gamble. If you are buying keys from players, hoping for the chance to get that uber rare item and sell for gobs of cash, probably you will be disappointed. If you are spending faction you have gained, or if you are like me and ab is the extent of your pvp, well, it might be worth it.
I like the Xunlai tournament house. However I don't pvp, so the points go into keys. I AB, mostly to get alliance faction. The Balthazar faction is incidental. So then it becomes if I want to waste time trying to sell the key, or if I want to open a chest.

Well in real life a lottery ticket is a $1... these are like $50 lottery tickets for the same bad odds. So worth it, no, it can't be quantified... you'll probably simply lose money, but some people will make out like bandits.
