Good question. hehe Hmm...well shades are okay but preferably within the light/dark range, like not teal for blue or green, etc. I hope that makes sense.

There have been lots of contests and I have been following since the first TNTM1. I normally can understand the judges' decisions, but I guess not this cycle.... Maybe I need new glasses?

Wow, I am so sad to see who went home this time. I was expecting myself top be in the bottom two, but I did not expect the person who went home to go. I didn't exactly put my all into the shot this week, and therefore I apologize to everyone! This assignment I will most definitely kick myself into gear! Thank you so much judges for the wake up call.

At least I'm not the only one who is slightly confused then! ^^ Go get them Scarlet! (them being awesome screenshots )

I would definately have struggled with this next assignment as I've had NO money this whole competition to buy anything let along dyes lol. And I was seriously running out of new locations! - Gracie only has propohecies, and at level 15 she's only just made it to the desert >.< with the three cheapest, most common armours... :s

Hey everyone! So sorry that I wasn't able to make it to the meeting yesterday. I got to feeling worse with this flu and passed out on the couch. Slept right through it. But maybe we can have another one this coming weekend if anyone is interested. hehe and Deus made a good suggestion - since TMW2 is going on now, perhaps we can even make it a double get-together. I'll contact Lokii and find out.

Edit: Also, there has been quite a bit of confusion about judging, so I'm going to post the way we do it just so everyone knows.

I'll use last week as an example. There were 7 contestants left, therefore 7 is the highest score we can give someone. We rate from 7 - 1 (7 being the highest) for who should get immunity and then those scores are all added together for the total. For example (I'll use my character names-by the way, this was Stalker's suggestion and he said this is how he did it for TNTS lol):

Each week, since there are less contestants, less points are available and displayed. The two highest scores are up for immunity, while the two lowest are up for elimination. The judges then review the assignment and past performances of these four people to determine who stays and who leaves.

I hope that makes sense. However, for this assignment ONLY, our judging will be slightly different. Instead of using that ranking system, we'll do it like this:

Each person will have 10 points possible for the assignment. Each judge will rate the picture between 1 and 10, 10 being the highest. Those scores will then be added together, and of course the two highest are up for immunity while the two lowest are up for elimination. That might be easier for the viewers and contestants to understand. If not, we'll go back to our old system.

This will be brief and rushed since I'm in school. haha Here are submissions for assignment #5! Expect results as soon as I get home!

Deus Toutatis (Purple):

Judge 1: Looking at your picture by itself I could see that purple was your color. Seeing the mystery in it alone perhaps was a bit difficult, but with your explanation it was proven clear and everything made sense. The two shades of purple (the background and your armor color) complement each other well, although purple kinda hard to make look spooky, you won't get points docked off for that since the theme you chose was mystery after all.
Judge 2: First off, I applaud you for taking a different approach than royalty, as, like you said, that would have been too easy considering a male mesmer's wardrobe. Outstanding shot! I see plenty of purple here, and you do look very mysterious. The plant in the background matches with the smaller details of your attire, so that helps to bring you out even more, and though your armor blends in a little bit with the background, you still pulled this shot off very nicely. Great job! I had no idea the Echovald Forest had purple in it. lol
Judge 3: I love the approach you took to this. Very clever, and your centaur in the headlights comment was hilarious. Even though your armor blends in with the background, your face is the first thing that catches my attention which is great. The whole "mystery" theme for your photo works very well with your color and your background is excellent.

Render Me Useless (Green):

Judge 1: This I personally think its a very great shot. You look as if you belong with nature, and are showing us more of its loveliness (the vine bridges). There is definitely green all around, but not too much to as where you'd be sick of it (green and sick, get it? Haha...alright nevermind). Your cropping was excellent, I love the use of natural framing with the branches, I'm glad you decided to keep a part of the upper right hand corner branches still in the shot.
Judge 2: Excellent shot! I see green here as well as the meaning of nature. I find it creative how you're pushing back the branches, and I do like that you chose an outfit that wouldn't be all green if you dyed it. So you stand out from your background great, and you are the first thing I notice. Great job!
Judge 3: I LOVE the armor you chose to use for this assignment, and I love the effect you got from your photo. The picture is well done. The only thing I would change is the cropping. I feel that the bottom right of the photo has too much negative space and that if you had cropped the right side closer to where the animals were in the distance that it would have lessened this feel.

Nymphalis Antiopa (Yellow):

Judge 1: Lovely shot you have here Nymphalis. I can definitely see the overall yellow coloring of the area, and nymph's pose of pondering also implies that she is thinking intellectually. The location is very beautiful and not too distracting, very pleasing on the eyes. Simple is best may not work sometimes, but it has certainly worked for you.
Judge 2: Great shot! I do see the wisdom in here, as Nymph is pondering her thoughts in the shot, and that also shows me intellect. Great job with the background, you're not drowning in it and the yellow stands out from the green. I don't know if it was intentional, but I see yellow even in the waterfall too. So I see your color right away along with its meaning, and you are still foremost in the shot.
Judge 3: Lovely shot and a great representation of your color. I LOVE the yellow in the waterfalls behind you, too. I find that the darkness of the hills is a little distracting, but the yellow is still strong enough that it does not take away too much from the overall feel of the photo.

Scarlet Renoux (Red):

Judge 1: Red definitely looks very good on your mesmer! And of course, when I think of red, I think of angry volcanoes. Although with your explanation I gave it a second thought, especially with you explaining how red can mean much more then one thing. Visually though, the background just doesn't seem to have much of a 'courage'-y feel to it, since thats the mood you were going for. Your pose also looks a bit awkward, because your proportions glitch the armor at your shoulder and at your thigh, enough to make it noticeable. Although it might have worked if you were straight on facing the audience, but I can't be sure on that.
Judge 2: I really like this shot! I like how you took two meanings of the same color and combined the two to come up with a fantastic shot. I do see confidence here as Scarlet reaches out, and also courage as she braves the lava. You are wearing red, but I see more yellow and orange in the background than your color. But, the fire does go with the meaning so I do see what you were trying to portray. Overall, great shot!
Judge 3: I like what you did with this assignment as you definitely took a different approach. Scarlet's pose and outfit definitely fit the story well. I'm sorry to say though that I do find the lava to be more orange than red, especially compared to your attire... but I still think the overall effect of your photo is good.

Ao Kanashimi (Orange):

Judge 1: The way you organized your shot was very well done, to me it was cropped quite nicely and your pose also works well with it! I believe you could have chosen a better location to propose endurance however, because even though the magma was orangy, I still think of it as something more destructive then enduring. Very close there though, and I'm not sure how well other ranger armor dyes but perhaps you could have shown one that makes the orange on you more obvious.
Judge 2: One word: WOW! I love this shot! As you said, vitality/orange means strength and I see that in you and the lava behind you. You did a great job standing out from your background, even though it's a little bright. I see the strength and endurance here as well as the warmth, so I think you really nailed this assignment. Awesome job!
Judge 3: I love the way you chose to express your color. I really like the theme you chose to accompany orange, but I think that your photo would have been a little bit better if you had stood a little further away from the lava just because of how bright it is. Still, I think you did a good job!

Ember Coals (Blue):

Hey guys! I'm back *is sooo sneaky, even though they can log this lol*!

I just got a PM from Ember and she explained to me what happened. She's had a bad case of insomnia and it's started to affect her. As a result, she's resigned from the competition.

So that means when I get home the only result will be this week's winner. There will be no elimination, so the rest of you are safe and have made it to the final 5! The halfway mark! lol I have to make the poster before I can post the winner. hehe Stay tuned! *gets back to boring work*

Deus Toutatis: We felt you did a very good job this week. You showed us purple in a new way, and we applaud you for taking the "non-safe" approach, which would have been royalty. Your post clearly shows mystery as does your location, and everything just fits together so well. Great job once again!
Render Me Useless: Another great shot! We're glad you chose the armor you did, as it goes well with your environment and keeps us drowning in green. Very creative how you pushed the branch back and displayed nature.

This was a tough one, as you both did incredible this week. But of course, only one can win each week. Also, you have both won once before, so that means your bounty on the poster has gone up! That's just in fun of course, but...yeah. lol Anyway...

Ao Kanashimi (Hear)

Judge 1: I love what you did with this assignment. The whisper looks wonderful, and you stand out from your partner perfectly. I think the Koss/Melonni portion of your assignment should have been left out, though, as although I understand where you were getting at with it... it just isn't necessary. If you had cropped them out of the photo, I definitely would have given you full marks.
Judge 2: I love your take on the sense of hearing! Your poses are absolutely wonderful and creative, but when I see it I think of gossip first rather then the sense to hear. Also I know that it probably would have been difficult, but it would have been nicer if Koss and Melonni were closer together perhaps, or not in the shot at all. Even though I know you are in this competition (thus the main star) I get distracted by the heroes in the background. Overall though I love your creativity in the posing, I hope to see more shots with that in the future!
Judge 3: I really like your shot! I do see hearing in here, and I applaud you for taking a different approach than the "safe" music one and having someone whisper in your ear. I do see your sense here, but I have to say that even with your explanation I don't understand why Koss and Melonni have anything to do with this assignment. Yes you wonder throughout Nightfall if they are in a relationship or not but I really think this shot would have been better had they been left out. But because I do see your sense right away and I see you first, you still did a good job.

Deus Toutatis (See)
This was our favorite/your best picture of the 3 you sent in:

Judge 1: What a great portrayal of sight! You definitely look like you are examining the markings. You stand out well from the background, but the brightness of the 'glyphs is a bit distracting. Still, overall, I think you did wonderfully. Your mistranslation made me LOL!!!
Judge 2: The fact that we see both of your eyes (instead of half your face) deffinetly brings an inch into a mile because the sense you received was sight. The text on the wall stand out, but we know you are looking at them, and to me it only enhances the fact that you are using sight even more. I think you did a good job on this assignment! Just brush up on your translations a bit...
Judge 3: I really like this picture! There are so many different ways to portray sight, and I was looking forward to what you would show us. I clearly see sight here as you are trying to read those ancient markings. The only ordeal is that the markings are bright so they stole my attention first, but then I quickly see you.

Nymphalis Antiopa (Smell)

Judge 1: Phew! It really looks like it stinks! It certainly looks the part, and Nymph definitely appears to smell something awful. I think the cropping could have been closer though as there is a lot of space to either side. Still, I think you did a great job with this.
Judge 2: Your little story made me lol, simple, yet funny to me. The fact that your in the slums and that your ranger even LOOKS like she's smelling something foul, adds to the uniqueness to remind people that you can't always smell roses and daisies all the time. Your cropper could have been closer I think, although I still know that the main focus is you.
Judge 3: lol Yes I bet it does stink down there! Ewww. I totally see smell here and I think it's creative how you took the approach that you did. I wasn't sure how one could represent smell, as it is probably one of the morr tricky ones, but you did great! And you are still the main focus thanks to your white armor. Awesome work this week!

Render Me Useless (Taste)

Judge 1: I honestly had no idea how you were going to do this. Your photo is definitely taste, thats forsure! You did pretty well on this, Render looks really cute about to sample that food, but I do think that a closer zoom and perhaps even a bit different of an angle would have helped make it so the food wasn't the first thing I saw.
Judge 2: Heh, I can almost imagine Render with saliva on this picture...a difficult sense to portray. Because it is difficult, your general idea (looking at the food tray wistfully) is a good one, but the lighting on your face just bothers me! I know that its difficult to plan exactly where the servers will walk to, but perhaps you could have experiment with the other ones, as I believe the background would have looked more interesting as well.
Judge 3: Mmm tasty. That's making me hungry! lol I do see taste here, but I did see the food tray first so it's a little distracting. Other than that, I think you did very well this week. Taste to me would be a hard sense to portray but you pulled it off nicely. Well done!

Scarlet Renoux (Touch)

Judge 1: Very well done this week Scarlet! Your photo is very well composed. You stand out well from such a dark background and the place you are in matches very well with your outfit which is a nice touch. (No pun intended!)
Judge 2: Normally I would have thought it strange that of all the things chosen to touch, you chose a candle, but I'm glad that your story explained that aspect. I think your shot is simply great, and the armor you chose is perfect, and matches the theme and the background wonderfully! Even if I didn't know what sense you got, I would have been able to tell just by looking at your picture.
Judge 3: Great job this week! Big turnaround from recent assignments! Before even reading your story, I could tell that your sense was touch. Great job portraying Scarlet reaching out to touch the candle. The story was a nice touch as well, clearly goes with your photo. Of course, that's not part of the assignment so it won't affect the score, but you still did fabulous! The picture is dark but you are still the first thing I notice. I think you nailed it this week!

This was a very tough choice, and it's only going to get tougher as we get closer to the end of Guild Wars' Most Wanted. We've looked at past performances and such, and we have made a decision. It's hard to see anyone go but unfortunately someone has to.

Well, well, well. We're down to only four contestants left.

Things are getting close to the end. The final 3 are approaching. As you know, this contest was designed for any and all professions. So what we want to see this week is you showing us why your profession is so great! But we don't want you to just go out and stand next to a bunch of dead monsters you killed. We want you to actually battle it out with a fellow contestant! But you have to stick with your primary profession. We don't want to see an elementalist waving a sword around. We want to see an actual battle scene showing us how your primary profession owns! You've been paired up based on your time zones to make it easier for you.

Show us a battle scene with both of you portraying why your profession is the best. In addition, tell us why you think your profession is the best. But be sure that you and your partner are shown in the picture (with you being the most prominent)!

You will be judged on how well you showed us you battling your partner, and 1/3 of your score will come from the written portion. There is no length limit for that. Also, each one of you is to submit YOUR OWN picture and answer! If one of you does poorly, your partner will not be affected. You will not be judged as a team, but you will be judged on how well you showed us that your profession is better than your partner's.
