The first person I "dropped" was a Mesmer in the Pre-Searing Academy fight.
Because in this early stages of level <10 and low HP, Conjure Phantasm was something you better avoided by killing the source, with mighty sword blows and Sever Arterty! :>
My first item drop was probably some crap from the skales, dunno remember what.

Not my first drop ever.....but the first drop on one of my chars was a black dye - forunately I had been playing for a while so knew the value.

I can't remember my first ever drop but I believe it was either a Skale Fin or an Aloe Seed in pre.
I do remember my first drop in post-searing which was a Sapphire from a devourer outside of Ascalon City (heading to Ambassador Zain.) This was in June 2005 and it was worth 14k at the time - I thought I'd won the lottery. I was then able to craft armour in Ascalon City and dye it silver and have change left over.

i can't remember my FIRST.. but i will always remember one particular drop cuz I got so excited over it. It was a purple Spatha 11-18 req 5 sword with dmg+11 while enchanted on it. dropped by a Charr in pre in Northlands. As soon as I got back to Ascalon, I customized it and pure ownage soon followed! lol.. I still have a love for the Spatha today and yet still have never got a gold max req9 15^50 version.

I also remember that I was probably the very first "chest runner" back when I thought pre WAS the game. I would leave ascalon run over to the barrel by the river, then get the one in the cave then get the other one top of the hill, rinse & repeat. lol, I earned my guild and cape doing that.
