Realms of the Gods instead of dungeons would have doubled the game's lifespan

Well, that's what writers and designers are for.

And if they can't think of something, they can always hire me.

There are 6 gods now by the way.

And no, im tired of all these areas that favor the Tank/Nuke/Heal game (also known as the goly trinity).
They would probably have ridiculously large mobs with massive damage (just as urgoz, the deep, doa, slavers), and more thiings to favor the holy trinity.

So please no... it would just make the non-monk-warrrior-ele players want to stop playing

I can go through UW and FoW just fine without tanking aka the Holy Trinity with 7 heroes.

As for the 6 gods, we already have Abaddon's, so he's taken off the list.

Lore question: What's the purpose of going into the Underworld again? I know that you go into the Fissure to prove your strength to Balthazar. Was the Underworld overrun or something?

I just want the other gods to have realms!
I dont need anymore armor
(I dont need any more armor mules either---and I still dont have fow armor and never will....which does bring up a point...both the uw and fow have parts for the fow armor, now if they make say 1 more armor that requires say 3 different rare items from each of the remaining gods realms.............. ..................... ............................. )

You go to FoW to help Balthazar in his eternal war with his half-brother Meinze.

You go to UW to stop the Dryders who serve Dhurum, the previous god of death who was overthrown by Grenth, who have taken control of the Reapers statues in the UW.

Hmm something cool that is actually REWARDING? Do want!

Guild Wars needs something like this in my opinion. UW and FoW are doing good after all these years. Adding 3 more area's like it will be very exciting for a loong while.

I believe what makes FoW and UW so popular, is the fact that playing in it is rewarding itself. Any monster can drop a great item there.

In stuff like The Deep, Doa, Urgoz etc, the reward comes only AFTER playing for like 5 hours. This makes the playing itself worthless and less fun.

If the new realm of the Gods are going to have new 'ecto's and shards', then I would love it

This is a fatal trend. People were playing GW1 because it was GW and the design philosophy behind. Now they try to cater to everyone, more people, and RE-INVENT the wheel, i.e. the standard grinder MMO.

This smells of total failure and pissing off the existing playerbase.

See some of the latest additions to gameplay: URSAN BLESSING (Norn grind rank based) + CONSUMABLES (attainable after some minor grind). These skills are a total contradiction to the original design of GW in my opinion.

Additions to the game are always welcome, but not turning the game into another game.
Well said, i started playing Guild Wars, because from the beginning, it was an open and fun game. Casual players could without problem keep up with gamers. Before heroes you actually had to spend time with other humans, interact on good and bad, this kept the community blooming.
The storyline was good aswell, how many didnt hope they would / could restore ascalon to its former glory more then one time (we will obviously see this in GW2 but that wont be the same)?

The more grinding Guild Wars has become the less fun i can have with it.

Prophecies was a fun and easily accessible game that felt worked through (allthough some things were obviously not completed in it), even the attitude of the game itself was encouraging and appealing - it had diversity. Prophecies wasnt just another MMO, it had focused itself on having fun - and that is why i play - not to achieve some certain skill for myself IRL or do a thing x amounts of times to be able to label myself, but to HAVE FUN.

It would be an awesome thing to add. But try to keep in mind people have been asking about this for over a year.

My guess is if it hasnt happened already its not gonna happen.

/signed I guess.

I haven't been to the GWEN dungeons though, but I always wanted to go into Melandru's, Dwayna's and Lyssa's realms.

After looking at the favourite mini thread, I think they should implement minis of the gods to be ultra rare drops in Fissure, UW, and the other realms of the gods. Each realm would maybe have a chest upon defeating all quests/vanquishing the whole place, and there'd be an ultra-rare chance to have a minigod in it.

Or if you don't like how the gods themselves look, we could have a mini of their avatars. Personally I prefer the avatars.. We could call it like, Talisman of Lyssa, etc. Face it, people LOVE minis and if it could bring people back to the realms as well to play all of it (instead of just smite farming) it could restore some of that life back into it, at least for awhile.

You hit the nail right on the head.

FoW and UW are exciting locations because of this. The fact that they are exclusive due to Favor also adds to the mystery of these place, even though they are in reality far easier and more accessible than DoA.

Oh and reetkever, love your name. Gives a whole new dimension to beetlejuice.

My hopes are indeed very, very low, which is why I started this topic in the first place.

Not to ask when they will happen, but why they didn't happen.

To put things into perspective, I started playing this great game in May 2005 and ventured to FoW and UW for the very first time in June of that year. Back then they were the only high-end places and considered to be excruciatingly hard. It's also around that time (and the following months) that I met most of the Geedub friends that I still play with today.

Back then everyone was pugging and PvE was really multiplayer. It was the time when we woke each other up in the middle of the night because we Euros had finally snatched favor for a couple of hours and we could get our butts thoroughly kicked in UW.
  • When the first free expansion was announced, we all assumed we were going to get one or more of the remaining Realms. We got Sorrow's Furnace instead, which wasn't bad, but we knew they were holding back on the Realms for the first real expansion.
  • When Factions was released, the first thing I did before taking the boat to Kaineng was kneel down at every statue in ToA. I wasn't the only one to do so. Even after finding out about The Deep and Urgoz, we felt that something was missing from high-end. After this disappointment, many of my old-time friends gave up on Guild Wars altogether.
  • With the release of Nightfall, I didn't even bother kneeling down at the statues anymore. Then when an elite expansion was announced, we were all ecstatic. Finally it was going to happen! A new Realm! A ne-- Who the "go red engine go" is Mallyx? /sigh
  • Then GWEN was announced. Okay ArenaNet. Last chance to save the day. What? Dunge-- oh, nevermind.

And for the record: I don't own a single Obsidian Armor. I just really love UW and FoW.

I think it would look rather cute, though incredibly girly. A floating shiny pink ball with a face. :x

There are enough scarymonster minis!
