You hit the nail right on the head.
FoW and UW are exciting locations because of this. The fact that they are exclusive due to Favor also adds to the mystery of these place, even though they are in reality far easier and more accessible than DoA.
Oh and reetkever, love your name. Gives a whole new dimension to beetlejuice.

My hopes are indeed very, very low, which is why I started this topic in the first place.
Not to ask
when they will happen, but
why they didn't happen.
To put things into perspective, I started playing this great game in May 2005 and ventured to FoW and UW for the very first time in June of that year. Back then they were the only high-end places and considered to be excruciatingly hard. It's also around that time (and the following months) that I met most of the Geedub friends that I still play with today.
Back then everyone was pugging and PvE was really multiplayer. It was the time when we woke each other up in the middle of the night because we Euros had finally snatched favor for a couple of hours and we could get our butts thoroughly kicked in UW.
- When the first free expansion was announced, we all assumed we were going to get one or more of the remaining Realms. We got Sorrow's Furnace instead, which wasn't bad, but we knew they were holding back on the Realms for the first real expansion.
- When Factions was released, the first thing I did before taking the boat to Kaineng was kneel down at every statue in ToA. I wasn't the only one to do so. Even after finding out about The Deep and Urgoz, we felt that something was missing from high-end. After this disappointment, many of my old-time friends gave up on Guild Wars altogether.
- With the release of Nightfall, I didn't even bother kneeling down at the statues anymore. Then when an elite expansion was announced, we were all ecstatic. Finally it was going to happen! A new Realm! A ne-- Who the "go red engine go" is Mallyx? /sigh
- Then GWEN was announced. Okay ArenaNet. Last chance to save the day. What? Dunge-- oh, nevermind.
And for the record: I don't own a single Obsidian Armor. I just really love UW and FoW.
