I was curious what class in GW is considered the least played or least popular class in the game. Judging from the PvE class specific forums it would look like the Paragon followed by the Ritualist.

Which of course is funny since Paragon is the best PvE class and Ritualist have Splinter Weapon, arguably the best AoE skill in the game.

Well, gwonline's class forums jump all over the place.
Sometimes the mesmer class forum has the most people viewing it and posting in it.

As far as the WHOLE game, probably Paragon, without a doubt. For PvE, probably assassin. You don't see many running around other than to farm greens or do FFF runs.

PvE I would have to say mesmer

Like Racthoh said.....ritualists and paragons are two of the best support classes for a party.....

Specially male. When I see a male mesmer I have to run over and talk to them.
Cuz they are all rarely seen and mysterious.

For PvP, each class brings something desireable, but necromancers are clearly at the low end of the spectrum.

For PvE, mesmers and sins.

The sin forum is often an open warzone though.

I am a PvE player and my fave classes are: Para and Rit...go figure.

Edit: as a sidenote, my fave used to be Necro until SR was changed from too powerful to stupid.

Mesmer for pve, easier to just take an ele and nuke them.

For pvp i dunno, all classes get their metas and occisanal imba builds :P.

... Mesmer if i was to say one though, never really seen them to common at any point but they always pop up.

Mesmer. I regret sticking to one for PVE.

sin, paragon and mesmer are the least desired.
though rits dont get much love either---which is strange since they can do healing and damage.... (I have 2 of them, 3 mesmers, a paragon that I am beginning to like again (died on her survivor attempt) and one sin which I am still trying to master).

The order is:

1. Monk
2. Warrior
3. Elementalist

4. Ranger
5. Necro
6. Dervish
7. Assassin
8. Ritualist
9. Mesmer
10. Paragon

The Dervish seems to be very popular among German players.

That Assassins/Ritualists/Dervish/Paragon are a bit less played, maybe for these reasons:

1. Expansion Chars
Everyone can create one of the core classes. For one of the other 4, you need the specific chapter

2. Char slots
Not everyone is buying char slots, and people usually created one of the Core classes first.

3. Farming
Everyone seems to have a monk for that.

This list does not list "primary" chars, it just counts which chars people registered on this page. It does not mean that monks are the most played class, but at least many consider them worth a slot.

The state of Mesmers after so many years is IMO by far worse than that of the latest profession, Paragon. Still a pity, I think their style is underrated. I blame it on the gay male dance.

Least played in PvE, depends. In nightfall there are plenty of Dervs/Paras. In factions and proph, not so. The same applies to rits/sins - lots in factions (well ok, not "lots"), but hardly any elsewhere.

But i'd have to say mesmer, as there just isn't many no matter what campaign it is.

you are spot on. once i saw a male mesmer with a mix of vabbian and primeval armour coloured black in grenditch courtyard. Quietly he goes to the merchant, then to the xunlai agent, and departs out the portal.

that type is very hard to come by

Well, it's between Paragons and Necros for that title, they're both fairly absurd.

The two I've noticed least of are Paragons and Mesmers. Male Mesmers in particular, I find, are even harder to come by. I always stop short when I see one and it's funny...because they do the same to me. We just stare at each other in awe, kind of funny really.

Most run at least one, we personally use 2 para's often. Though not always, most guests don't want to play para
