Since the BMP is being released for sale now
manitoba1073
Is anyone ever gonna ever bother with any other offers or bonuses from the online store since they are now selling the BMP seperate?
Just curious to how badly Anet just screwed over there own promotions from now on in the online store. I know Im relly gonna have to rethink everything from now on unless its in CLEAR FINE PRINT with no double speak before even considering any more purchases from there since they will just release it again it seems.
On another note so when are they gonna offer the divine auras in the store?

Well I'm kind of happy that they are offering the bonus mission pack separate now. I bought EOTN in store, so I didn't want to waste money unlocking skills for PvP and Heroes.
Elisa
Nope. I won't partake in any of the special promotions anymore. Way to treat a customer that has all of your Collector's Editions, Special Editions and actually wanted to support you as a company by buying through the online store, knowing I'd spend more, but that the money would go directly to you. Oh well, boohoo on me for putting my trust in a corporation, I guess.

No CC.
So this changes nothing.

I got the BMP free anyway from the store, didnt even know about the promo. I'll continue to play and buy as i want to.
It really really isnt a big deal imo. Definitly not worth all the crying threads.

I'll think twice about jumping on their promos the instant they're offered, but if it's something I want and comes packaged as a bonus with something I was gonna buy anyway, hey... whatever.
I still think the whole thing was handled poorly, but I'm not exactly ragequitting GW over it.

I used the BMP as an excuse to order GW:EN from the store. Zero regrets. It's nice that ANet is offering it once again.

I'll definitely think twice about any future Anet "promotions".
KamikazeChicken
What promotions are you all expecting Anet to have? GW is pretty much done for the next 2 years.

What's so surprising ?
Why the moans and groans?
"For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction" basic law of Physics.
Arenanet gave something away, not one forced anyone to buy.
My choice was to buy 3 character slots so I wouldnt miss out on the free ! remember that folks FREE ! bonus mission pack.
Now its for sale, was this a deep dark secret plan all along by arenanet ? or just a "reaction" to all the original moans and groans from those who "for various reasons" missed out.
We got it for free they have to pay and get it a month or so later, big deal.
What's not surprising are the ott comments from their customer base, and who knows what their reaction will be to that.
No more offers at all perhaps since in our eyes they can do no right.

all you people moaning... lame... grow up and deal with it, my god so many drama queens around.

I'm trying to get into the mindset of people who are resentful of this decision (and failing). Why the hell would you be angry that the BMP is for sale. You got it early, for free (technically).

I will also add that I will also ask questions and do so fairly often until answered. This whole thing could have been avoided if they answered one of the direct questions - and if they don't answer then I guess I will also point this out as often as I can as we can no longer trust what they usually mean by their press reports. We now have to make sure that we notice what they don't say instead of assuming that they told us all they could.
Of course, why ragequit? This is standard practice for game companies, just in the past Anet has not been a standard company. They now move into a lower slot and that is obviously what they want to have happen. Not a big deal, if I wanted to ragequit over this I would have quite playing games decades ago and they aren't the first to have changed in this way either.

Why are people behaving as if they lost something? Its not as if you can sell the weapons, and there's not much bragging rights.
Its cool that now everyone's friends can enjoy the BMP. Good patch, Anet.

I would take part in promotions that actually benefit me.
I just wont do "hey, pay a us whole lot more than you would in shop, loose out box and help us screw retailers." thing.

Strcpy you should have been smarter, as the rest of you (as that guy above put it soo nicely) "drama queens."
It's good for people who couldn't get it before, they're making others happy. So many damn elitists here I swear whether it be one thing or another/one side or another. Just deal with it, open your eyes they're making everything available to others. Too bad this game isn't good enough to supply that much fun if there aren't a large number of rare things to go after cause Anet makes everything easy for people who can only supply 3 hours to the game.
I won't get it though, because it's lame and not special at all and will add -5minutes of fun to GW.

I'll take part in anet promotions that i think are decent, so long as i'm happy with the purchase at the time i couldn't care what happens afterwards, because shit happens.

No, and I don't see why people are so confused about this. Collectors editions items, pre-order items, and whatever else are obviously going to remain exclusive. If you decide to avoid them in the future because of this, that's your loss.
Yes, you guys who bothered to enter this promotion can argue that you were tricked, or whatever, but despite popular belief they did not in any way, EVER say that this would be exclusive content that couldn't be re-released later, and I have to say I thought it was fairly obvious it would be. Or at least there was a good chance, good enough to not bother spending extra money on GW:EN, missing out on the box or buying un-needed character slots.
But anyway I'm fairly sure they won't even run any more promotions like this in the future, it was a bad idea to begin with and was going to leave a lot of people unhappy either way. If they do make more mission packs, I'm sure they'll just straight up release them in the store.

I'm happy enough to have it. I used to be against the idea of them selling the BMP seperate.. but now. Since my gf started the game too late to even have a chance at getting it, I've reversed that opinion. It did suck that there was a piece of the game that some players could NEVER get. We got it as a reward, for free. The rest will have to pay for it.
I think its actually better this way. Anet makes money of the BMP by selling it after a promo to get it free. This gets Anet profit for the project and makes them a little more willing to make such additions later, offering first as a promo then later for sale.
BTW: the BMP isn't worth all the fuss it has received. Just some cool background story and free weapons. with NO mods on them..

1) A lot of people got the BMP by buying stuff from the online store that they would not have bought were it not for the BMP. (In the case of GW:EN, they would have bought it in a retail store, quite often.)
2) They did the above because they did not know/expect there would be any other way to get the BMP.
3) They're miffed that they spent extra money on stuff they didn't otherwise want, or gave up the goodies that come with the GW:EN box (unless they spent even more money), when they didn't have to - they were simply led to think they did.
Whether point 2 was a reasonable assumption on their behalf is up for debate, but considering so many people fell for it I would say it was.

From this day on Im no longer gonna buy anything extra from the ingame store....I consider the online store to be no better than any online gold seller site...I'am actually thinking about reporting the store to support for scamming.

B, Why?
C, What can you ell from the ingame store to make ingame golds?
kthxbye
thig
A: By contacting support
B: for the so called "free bonus" offer that cost around $30. Since you can now get the same "free bonus" for only $10.
C: I don't say they sell the same things, but they are currently doing business just like the online gold sellers.

One of things that were real bad about BMP was lack of informed choice.
You got no info what reward will be like, so you could not really decide whether its worth it to you to take part in that promotion thingie. So if you didnt want to loose out you were pressured to get it anyway. Smart seller tactics, but distastefull from customer POW.
There was just to way to tell if you would get something you would like or if you would feel like you were screwed out of your money.

I'm lucky. I bought Factions in Online Store (turned out cheaper than from local retailer ), then bought box from some guy. I didn't lost anything, but I understand those who was fooled by anet's wording and lost GWEN box, not saying about money due to difference in prices..

the "Free offer" didn;t cost $30, the free offer was given to you when you spent $30, and not at the same time either, you could make that $30 up anyway over a 5 month period...
I personally chose to buy GW:EN as I had the unlcok packs and the GotY pack and i don;t need more character slots, nor do i want the box
And as i said in the other thread, on release, GW:EN cost £30 here in stores, it cost £30 in the in Game store too... so i got to make a choice of wether i got the BMP or a box with a usless DvD, a 16 Page maunual and a map... I chose the BMP and didn;t need to leave my flat

You mention that the ingame store price and the retailer prices were the same. Thats not true. I don't have the exact price but I could get it about 20-25% cheaper by getting it from a online retailer like www.play.com . Now if I had bought it from the online reailer instead I would have goten more value for my money. I would have gotten the box content and have gotten the "Free Bonus" offer for about the same price. Know Im not one of those who really got screwed in this. Many others bought 3 slots they basically did not need in order to get the "free bonus" pack, that they now can get at a cheaper price.

Play.com save money buy not charging VAT, but also save money by sending things Second Class delivery and you will never get a product from play.com on release day
