I was thinking to myself how much money i threw away in my playing years of gw, and this is what i came up with, and im emberased :S
5x full 15K armors on deleted characters = 300K
accidently deleted req 8 15^50 tyrian longsword back in the days they were 100K+ = 125K
deleted edgar the crosseyed with legendary skillhunter = 281K
total 706K
well thats money that i absolutely got nothing for in return
im sure i wasted a lot more but cant remember more atm..

If you mean wasted as in spent money that you didn't get any value for (as opposed to, say, something like minis which have no utilitarian purpose but have value in terms of pleasure of ownership), I'd have to say not too terribly much.
I've bought several sets of 1.5k armor which I ended up not liking how they looked on my chars and so deleted, maybe 1 set of 15k that suffered the same fate.
I paid 55k for a req 8 +15%/-10AL Golden Pheonix that I ended up never really using, same for a Tarnok's Recurve I blew 18k on; I still have both of them, though. Prob a few more similar instances, but heroes have gotten a lot of that type of stuff, so no real loss there.

OMG, I can't remember this without wanting to cry, but putting a rune in a piece of armor that had a superior rune of Vigor. All for being on a damn rush.... thrice in all my 2 and a half years of playing GW.

I'd say about 1.5 million. Mainly because I wasted ton of gold on money sinks like keys and crafting materials for the first 9-10 months I played GW. I spent about 50k on my GH and over 100k on Vabbian armor(dyed black of course) for my Derv. My main, Vala, has had at least 10 different armor sets and only one was crafted after last April's update so I paid the original price for most of it. In more recent times I've spent money to give my less used toons farming builds. *lol*

Id say well over 2 million counting...guilds/halls/npcs that Ive done. 15ks deleted due to lack of storage. And random weapons that i ended up customizing that I never used...

Millions. Had my account hacked a few months ago and had all of my characters deleted. 6 characters with FoW and atleast 3 pairs of 15k armors on each character. And this was back when ectos were 6.5-7k and shards were like 3-4 :/

2+ million for me as well. I've got 2 sets of FoW that I probably bought have of the materials for because farming gets tedious, an assortment of 15k, Ancient, and Vabbian Armors, a few hundred thousand blown on (un)lucky titles, hundreds of thousands spent for tomes, weapons, runs, and other miscellaneous things.
I'm pleased with most, though. Some I come to regret, but, that's how it goes.

I probably am hitting around 10 million, 900 ecto, 1k lockpicks, a few rare minis, sweettooth, lucky unlucky title, weapons....etc. and it is really easy to spend a lot. Not regretting a thing, bought the items because I wanted to, and because I could afford it.

Im quite stingy actually. I'd say about 500-750K...Don't know if that has happened to anyone, but have you ever unconciously delete the wrong character that you wanted to delete? It happened to my warrior who was highly specialised with celestials and Primeval :'(. So now my mule of a character sits there, reminding me of what i have done

well over a million. every warrior armor (and 15k duplicates for certain insigs), over half of the sin and mesmer, rit and ranger 15ks, all black dyed (i love being mysterious :P), every mini except the hyper rares (many duplicates over time), tons of high end weapons, and general play money..
i wouldnt doubt if i've spent a good 100 million gold over 2 years tbh.

have 2 fow sets..many 15k armor since that was kool when only proph was out ^^ hmm maybe wasted more since only proph was out alot of the greenies were rare and i wanted to buy one..i remeber i bought one for...350k+ or less.. it was the razorstone

so without the excess armor my total is, 5k.

I always buy high / sell low (and i usually resell alot) so lose a ton of money there. No exact number, but things like:
Bought asura from an american before euro mags had it for 90k. Us europeans then get the mag, i resell for 20k.
Numerous dye combo's on the same armour with 5 blacks and/or whites.
