Pre-searing is mostly just the place where your Prophecies characters get some basic skills, maybe a decent weapon to start off the real game with, and some gold. It is not where your character is supposed to spend it's entire life in, it is a small area with a limited amount of content, I don't think it would be wise to encourage players to spend countless hours in Pre instead of experiencing the "real" game. Most people I know just get their secondary profession, 7 skills and a rez sig, maybe get to level 4... maybe, and do the mission and leave it.
I am guessing you have yet to see a "perma-pre" or LDoA. There are alot of players that keep one character in pre forever. The hunt there to relax. To work on that lvl 20 LDoA etc. Most of the people I know have a perma-pre. I think the idea of rewarding those people isnt such a bad idea. the armor is low lvl so its useless out of pre. the only way you can get it is to own proph. so maybe people would go and buy it if they didnt have it already. Which puts more money in anets hands and maybe they could make gw2 even better.

It is an interesting and fun idea for pre elite armour, but highly unlikely it will happen.

You must have misunderstood my post. I recognize the fact that people do sit in pre searing for they're characters entire existence, I'm just saying that's not what the area was designed for.

they have already given char bags, this armor would be a cool idea. and it should cost a pretty penny. I would like to see it in HoM. If someone ever decided to bring their char across.

Ok having thought about it, i'll sign this idea despite my previous dislike for the idea. But only if a condition is put on the armor.

For instance, the elite armor crafter is hidden behind a wall and inside a room (or something) which you can only access if you already own a lvl20 character who has completed prophercies.

Protected by an NPC who will say something like "You have yet to prove yourself as worthy to enter. Please come back as a new character when you have completed prophercies, and then you can access what is beind this gate".

That way newbies are forced to atleast take their first character out of pre-searing and play the actual game, and then can choose to go back, create a new character and explore whats behind the gate once they meet the conditions.

This should avoid any newbies being confused!

You could even put portals to new, higher content behind the gate too!

Not that it'd affect me, but I think it's a cool idea, especially having an elite dungeon in pre where you can craft such an armour set.

True, but the title is a bit of a joke atm. You don't really have to do anything good/remarkable to get it, you just die a good thousand times and kill the same monsters over and over.

Errr... there's a condition to obtaining pre armour for a pre character that's met by completing something outside of pre? Why does it matter if new players are level 20 when they leave pre? Not only will they have a nice title to start off, but the rest of the game will be a lot easier for them. When I first started I left pre at level 14 or so because I didn't know you could leave, it didn't really affect my gameplay at all.

That is the max armor Presearing could have.

Nothing above that. Maybe kamadan skins too, but nothing else.

You're arguing to have elite armor in a training zone and you want to talk about technicalities?

You also want to talk about time-lines when we have a BMP which lets you re-live events in the past? The co-herance of the time-line in Guild Wars doesn't appear to be top of the list for Anet, so I don't think this would bother them.

I'm suggesting the "condition" to try and maintain this idea of pre-searing being a training area for newbies and making them at least play the game.

While still satisfying those who have been playing for years and will have probably already completed prophercies at least once anyway and be able to get past the condition.

I assume you have already completed prophercies, so it wouldn't really impact you would it? And since the aim of the game is to actually complete it at least once... what's the hassle?

Its simple!

When you first play prophercies, its best to incourage newbies to move on into the full game and not linger in pre for too long otherwise the population level suffers in the main game with newbie players. They may notice the restricted area and think "hm ok.. ill complete the game first and come back with a new character".

But at least it keeps the flow of newbie players moving into the actual main game going, instead of keeping newbies in pre-searing.

Once they are no longer newbies they can just go back with a new character.

Simple.

A reward for being lvl 20 in pre?...I thought the title itself was the reward!

Also content exclusively for having a lot of patience and a stable internet connection? No thanks!
Theres nothing skillfull about deathlevelling anyway..It's much less work then actually having to farm xp (yes I tried deathlevelling)

/notsigned

This doesn't mean I wouldn't want somekind of exclusive armor in pre...even if it's a post reskin. I wouldn't want better stats or lvl 20 only content
Edit:Oh, and please no "If we do this then make Piken an outpost" things

Perhaps if they added an "elite" dungeon "Deep Catacombs" for example, accessible to players lvl 15 and up, at the end of which, you gain access to craftable 25AL completely unique armor. Then again, such a dungeon would only cheapen the LDoA title since the level of the foes would be greater than most of Pre-Searing to justify the level requirement. Hmm

How's that for brainstorming?

Or...just to brainstorm that little bit further...you could "meet up" with the armor crafter from Pre-Searing in Dragon's Lair after having Ascended...this would encourage people to complete the god-awful desert, and the crafter could then, for a fee, upgrade your armor to Max level.
Pretty damn good. This idea would compel me to make an LDoA/Perma-Pre character. It would be a lot of fun if you could get a level 15 warrior and a level 15 monk together to complete this.

The update for this kind of thing would be pretty big, and probably difficult to do, but I'm sure it'd attract a bit more attention to Pre-Searing (as if there isn't enough already).

like the idea, but don't see it happening anytime soon

maybe they should make a bonus mission pack thing where you pay real world money and buy a pre expansion pack, then it'd be a win win, noobs wont accidentally get in, and anet makes money, and players who want it can have it while others who dont can stay happy cuz they saved $5-10.

this idea should be implemented unless the AL is the same as all the other collectors items, just with unique skins

AL same as normal armour
only available to LDoA sounds good to me because these are the people that don't use pre as a Training Area anymore, they know how to play the game .. that's for sure.

And as 2nd option;
add Head/Hat gear with +1 attri. =]

*shrug* If they require you to be lvl 20 to craft it might as well make it max armor. Not like there's any challenge in Pre at lvl 20 regardless of the armor..

I didn't read the whole thread (most of the 1st page) but, I see no real downfalls to this request. Should probably leave at the same level as the collector armor (otherwise it would be similar to a request that elite armor post searing have a higher armor than regular max, which would be very bad idea). I don't really see much of a point to this request either, but I have never gotten into the whole perma-pre game and I could see those players who enjoy doing the perma-pre thing as wanting something else. No benefit or downfall to me and there is a benefit to others.

I haven't read the whole thread either, but I like the idea of having elite armor in pre. If I'm level 20 in pre, it would be nice to not look like everyone else in the noob armor.

Krytan already has that problem, since you can't put runes or inscriptions on it.

ONLY level 20 collector krytan does not allow insignia, and it only rejects insignia, runes can be added.
Maxed Krytan can be crafted in Kaineng, and it does allow insignia.

But it doesn't need to be a new skin, it could be one obtained later on, like the second set this NPC makes:
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Harlan
- Charr Hide
- Fur-Lined.
- Woven
- Cabal
- Rogue
- Flameforged

I would also go for making a 'copy' version player can go after talking to Simon the Scrybe, that has all monsters increased their levels by 20.
Player playing the 'copy' won't see the pre-Searin characters, and would be able to make parties of 4..8 there.
The Ascalon city won't be an outpost, but a Town, and would have the normal services. Everything else would be the same, just with creatures with more level and better builds.

The only way I'd want this implemented would be if an LDoA can get the armor in max AL after moving out of Pre-Searing (or anyone else could after a chain of quests). Seriously, it would be a waste to create new armor that is not max and is only accessible in a tiny space.

Plus, my LDoA has already left Pre-Searing, so I would want access to it for selfish reasons as well. =P

EDIT: Ah, it seems I was only looking at one implementation of this idea. I think it would be cool to offer an 'elite' outpost in Pre-Searing with Elite armor that already exists, but then again, I think that characters should move on, and not have as much of a reason to stay.

People already leave.

But people that choose to stay would have also that stuff.

It's like with GW2, if you choose to leave or you choose to stay in GW1.

Let people choose.
