Never, in my entire history of being a mesmer, has "dshot" ever meant anything except "Distracting Shot". And I'm mainly a domination mesmer when I play one.

D-Shot = DISTRACTING Shot.
Diversion = Diversion
I see no "Shot" in Diversion.
mr_groovy
/agree D-shot = Distracting shot. Never seen it related to diversion. People call it diversion.

I would say if this were done players would go back to something else.there has to a counter of some kind [skill]Deflect Arrows[/skill] possibly.I don't see how different this would be if using Dshot with good recurve bow sure Iwould hate being interrupted all the time as a Monk but that is what some of your other team mates are for to go after the ranger.

You can still dodge the damn thing. Which, if they are far at all, shouldn't be a problem. Any caster starts watching for that type of stuff after awhile. Granted, you cannot always dodge it, but what the hell would be the point of a skill that can be countered really easily?

OT: Magebane might not be as imbalanced as some other stuff, but until it's toned down TA is going to stay shit.
PS: whoru holy? noone ook sry

Not every team carries a magebane ranger though in TA and you can hardly say every team without a magebane ranger is gimping themselves. The issues with TA can't be summed up with "lol magebane." There's plenty of gimmicks that go through TA and a rather absurd amount of people that just mess around for a supposed higher level play arena. At some intervals, I wonder if I was somehow transported to RA rather than RA teams coming to TA due to wins.
Disregarding this weekend, TA is kinda slow and "dead" to most players. Though honestly, I'm not sure if that's a terribly unappealing issue in itself as you start to get to recognize a few names and opponents which would be much harder in a far more active arena. Yeah, there is still plenty of people who you won't recognize but you do start to see a few names that pop up regularly and you can reasonably guess what they are playing. Most of the time. Unless they lose and decide to build against you to screw you over since it's not prime time hours and you are about the only teams playing (or vice versa). Granted, it's always been like this to some degree as far as I can remember.
Edit: After reflecting, this post was rather OT. My thoughts on Magebane: I think it's somewhat fine as it is though it probably wouldn't hurt or change much if the recharge was set to 8 second recharge. I have to say, interrupt spam has always been an issue with "bad" rangers but it was just never popular before Magebane buff for obvious reasons. I'm sure anyone who has monked has cursed a random dshot to dismiss or RoF. Sure, the magebane buff just compounded the issue since the stakes are higher but the same tactics pretty much apply. I don't know about you, but I still timed my spells if I was behind guardian when the ranger was an interrupt spammer in the past... 50% block be damned. A disabled skill on my bar is far too detrimental.
